Completely average in every way. My parents seem to like it, which is why I'm bothering to review it in the first place.

After seeing a video review from an Edmonton foodie that we follow, we decided to give Lawson's…read morefish and chips a try. We were pleasantly surprised as the haddock was tender and flaky, and the batter was crispy and flavorful. The thick cut fries were definitely a wonderful pairing. Lots of lemon wedges and tartar sauce were provided as well as different types of vinegar, including my favourite malt vinegar. Service was great, as soon as we walked in, we were greeted with a smile and asked if it was our first time there. Special attention was given, even though it was extremely busy. This place was bustling as we went on a Saturday around 6:30 PM and had to wait for a table. People seemed happy and the fish and chips just kept flying out the kitchen. The atmosphere was interesting to look at while waiting for your food. There were British style telephone booths everywhere and lots of UK/London style pictures and decor that added to the experience. I would definitely recommend this place!

Fish was pretty greasy. Batter was crispy but gets soggy quickly. Fish itself was good. Fries were more like potato wedges, very fat fries. Would have like them more cooked and more salt. Sooooo many fries. I would highly recommend get the code combo for 2 people and just order additional fish. I tried the side of beans - was good. Side of coleslaw was also good, very crisp. Side of 1 bun was soft and good. Overall not my favorite fish and chips place but that's just my preference.

Wow, what a sweet little place this is! We had intended to do something more elaborate (like…read moretravel) for our 35th anniversary, but we have a sick pet and then my husband was ill for a few days, so we ended up staying close to home. I had read some reviews about this place and wanted to check it out. Husband had the steak sandwich and a root beer as the DD; I had some buffalo wings and one of their smoked Old Fashioneds, the one with the moonshine called the Sherlock. This was one of the best Old Fashioneds I've ever had. Super smooth and delicate flavour; the smoke part was interesting but really not the critical piece for me. The wings were excellent and came with a not very flavourful ranch dressing and a few carrot sticks. Still, I would definitely go back for these wings. Husband had added=cost gravy for his fries and mushrooms for the steak. He remarked that he liked the fried onion strings on top. I had a couple of the fries and they were the coated type that I think should be banned forever, but he was fine with them. The gravy was reasonable without being memorable. We had the sticky toffee dessert to share and the server was kind enough to take a photo for us to remember the special day. The decor overall is pleasant resto pub style with seating arranged to allow for private conversation. The staff all seem focused and professional in their work. Overall, agree with all the positive reviews and I think it might be worthwhile to return and explore more of the menu.

The interior of the restaurant is trendy, and the outdoor patio is spacious. The servers were all friendly and quick. I ordered the Bourbon Chicken Club. If you want to pretend it is the late 80's this is for you. However, it was very nice out and the patio was lovely. Menu is pretty standard pub food. We each chose a burger. Me with lamb, my hubby with bacon and kiddo with fries. Service was excellent. We told them that we were in a bit of rush because of a ball game and we recieved prompt help. Our glasses were full. Our server although busy was great at attending to us. Our child has special needs and she was extra kind and helpful to her. Food was good. Flavours were there. Fries were crispy. We were pleased with our meal. Except my soup. That was not great at all and I love soup. Liquidy and greasy. That is why it lost a star. It is good if you need a quick bite without the fast food scene. Just don't order the souop.
