Been coming to this joint since they first opened decades ago and it's always been pretty good. Great food, nice ambiance and fun for the kids too. It had been a few weeks since we last showed up but last night - yikes! Good thing for Joe's it wasn't our first time or it would certainly be our last... Call me crazy but I am not much of a fan of BBQ'd FAT which, sadly, was what most of our meal consisted of. While the baked potato was good as were the mashed cheesy potatoes and corn bread...but the meat? Yikes - the worst I've ever had quite frankly. All in all - we ordered 1Lb of chopped brisket (and at approx $30/lb I would have expected WAY better quality instead of it being mostly BBQ FAT)! First time to Joes BBQ. I had the chopped brisket and pulled pork with the citrusy slaw. My husband had ribs and sliced brisket. He said the ribs were dry. I tried his cheesy potatoes. OK - not impressed. . It is cafeteria style service. Large farm tables that everyone sits at. Not my style but we went early, mid-week so it was fine. The other meats were kind of lackluster. The coleslaw wasn't anything to write home about, either. However, the cornbread was delicious and I generally don't like cornbread. We took our 6mo old for the first time to an indoor restaurant and as first time parents we were so anxious that she's going to lose it! I say you have to try for yourself... I'm going to start with positives.. The meat was really good. I purchased the 4 meat plate: all the meat was really good. The chicken was a really good size. The ribs fall off the bone good. The bbq sauces: mustard, regular, and spicy all good and I'm not a Bbq mustard fan. I didn't try all the sides just a few of them. The corn was good, basic nothing special. The potato salad was good. I saw a lot of people with backed beans, but I didn't try them. The location was very clean and the service was spot on. We took my dad here for his 75th bday bcuz my brother highly recommended it. Never been before. Drove an hour to get there. We got there before the rest of my family members. Was super confused what to do exactly. I told the girl behind the counter that it was our first time. She didnt explain anything at all. Just kept looking at me like I was supposed to know what I was doing. I ordered 2 of the 4 person feasts. Was still not sure what to do. I think i was interrupting her doing something way more important than dealing with a customer. I Finally picked some sides and grabbed everything and brought to the table. I had to keep asking am I supposed to take the trays or do you dish them up? I Didn't know there was an outside patio we Could have enjoyed or that the bbq sauces were all on the side by the drinks. Food was ok but bland without the sauces. Realized there was an outdoor area after we ate. Not a single Person offered an explanation of anything or asked how was the food or service. nothing. We showed up. We ate. We left. Was pretty expensive and nobody barely even ate the food. Food and staff are great..Today a Sunday no booth and so ate at a long table I dined alone. I got the 1/2 slab & citrus slaw and beans and corn bread....awesome great...In my trips a weekday for supper you may have 5-8 people in line to order...today the wait time in line was 1/2 hour....They also have seating outside under a top and a room mostly for groups that is cooled but less than the main room...They were packed today...all the staff is kind...the ribs are great...And you get a BD deal---during the year and a weekday and just after or before lunchtime no lines too much...good place delish food.. read more

I honestly thought the BBQ here was all hype until I tried it out myself. I actually went to Topo before coming here which I found out is also owned by the same owner as Joe's Real BBQ and thought, wow, if their ice cream and elote in a bowl is that good, how can Joe's Real BBQ disappoint? Well, it didn't and it was by far, the tastiest BBQ I've had in a while. I came here with my bf and his sister while we were in town visiting. This place is also cafeteria style where you can choose which sides or toppings that you want to include (like on one of their tasty looking salads). I decided to order the BBQ Brisket sandwich with sliced meat and a side of Mac N' Cheese. The meat was so tender, and juicy but has a bit of fat on it so if you're not into that, this might not be the meat for you. The Mac N' Cheese was also quite solid I might add so I definitely encourage trying that out as your side dish. The food service was fast and efficient and you can choose anywhere you want to sit (either indoors or outdoors). You also get your own drinks, utensils, and for folks wanting more BBQ sauce, there is a sauce station you can hit up. I'll definitely be back here on my next trip. Sorry for no pics my 1 year old son was being cranky. So went to Joe's Real BBQ for my birthday because I love BBQ so going to Joe's just made sense. Cons- I love brisket and order when ever it available at a BBQ spot but Joe's brisket did not hit the spot. It was both sliced and chopped was chewy and tasteless and is something I suggest not to order. Pro- Chicken on the bone or breast was really good very tasty and juicy. The side was ok nothing to write home about but the cheesy potatoes is the best side. Now let me tell you the star of the show at Joe's Real BBQ and that was their cornbread. I love cornbread so I know what I'm talking about and their cornbread it top 5 I have ever had. So all and all the brisket was the biggest disappointment. We tried Joe's on DoorDash the other day and we were super disappointed. We ordered three meat plates and a jumbo baker. The meat plates were all disappointing. All 3 of us got the pork, which was slightly dry and not very flavorful. 2 of us also got ribs, which were horrible. The meat was straight fat and there was hardly any edible parts to them. We got one order of brisket, which was a greasy mess. All you could taste was rancid oil. The sides weren't much better. We also got baked beans, which were sadly also very dry and had no sauce to them. The cornbread was also very dry. The Mac N' Cheese and Cheesy Potatoes were gross as well, nothing had a good flavor and tasted old. The baked potato was nothing special either. For almost $100, you would expect better quality food from a place constantly hyped up by Gilbert locals. In my opinion, this is overrated and some of the worst BBQ I've had. read more

I was searching online for a place to eat at and Joe's Real Bbq came up quite a lot on the Facebook forum groups. I convinced my husband to stop by so that we could enjoy early dinner on a Sunday night. Parking was easy to find and free nearby. Walking in a young man greeted us and asked if we had dined there before. He instructed us to choose a seat and when we were ready to proceed to the front to order and pick up food. The line was short and service was great. Lovely young ladies working - all courteous and friendly. We purchased the full rack of ribs, 1/2 pound of premium beef brisket, Mac and cheese, coleslaw and cornbread. Everything was delicious.
