Just two days before my daughter's birthday party, the owner told me her family had norovirus and offered to either make the cake or cancel with a full refund. I appreciated her honesty and chose to cancel since the cake would be served to many children. Having to find a replacement cake only two days before the party caused me a great deal of stress, a parent planning a large birthday celebration, this added unnecessary pressure during an already busy time. Despite that, I remained understanding because I knew her family's illness was beyond her control. The owner asked for other ways to refund me, I sent her my Venmo information and she promised my refund would be sent "in the next couple of days." More than a week later, I still have not received my $117 refund despite multiple polite follow-up messages. I also contacted my bank, but they explained they couldn't dispute the payment because it was successfully sent to her Zelle account. Since the recipient banks with a different financial institution, they couldn't investigate what happened after the funds were received. What frustrated me the most throughout this experience was the lack of communication. I never knew if or when I would receive a response. Sometimes I had to follow up just to get an update, and now my messages have gone unanswered altogether. A simple update would have gone a long way. I understand emergencies happen, and I genuinely appreciated the owner's honesty about her family's illness. However, promising a refund, acknowledging the payment issue was their responsibility and then failing to communicate or issue the refund has been very disappointing. As of today, more than a week after she promised to send my refund, I am still waiting to receive it and have not received any communication from her. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this bakery at all.

Rarely have I had a dessert that I can say has changed my life....before I tried Joe's cupcakes. I'm ruined now - I can't ever have another cupcake unless I travel to Rocklin to order from Joe's. The cupcakes are just that good. I have to admit that when it comes to cakes, and cupcakes in particular, I tend to be a dessert snob. It's really hard to find those moist yet flavorful cupcakes with icing that isn't too sweet or overpowering. Joe has such a knack for getting the perfect mix of consistency and flavor, all with an artistic flair. The cupcakes look like small baked pieces of art...they almost look too pretty to eat! But oh man, one bite and you'll be hooked. The cupcakes are rich in flavor, stay fresh for days, and are super moist. You can tell that Joe uses fresh ingredients and his cupcakes are made to order. I've tried practically all of his desserts, and he makes everything well. Pricing-wise, they're also much more reasonable in price than those chintzy cupcake places that cost you half your mortgage for a couple of lousy cupcakes. It really feels like Joe's goal is to bring smiles to his customers through his food. So here's the summary: Food: 5/5. These cupcakes are the bomb. Cracktastic. Epic. Insert whatever adjective that means amazing and delicious. Service: 5/5. Joe is so friendly, and really seems to care about his customers. Price: 5/5. These cupcakes are very reasonably priced. My mom found Just Joe's Desserts while trying to plan for my wedding. Let me just say, I was so happy that she did! Joe was very helpful and the cupcakes were amazing! All of our guests were raving about them! We had funfetti, chocolate, Oreo, Reese's peanut butter cups, blueberry and strawberry flavored cupcakes! All decorated very lovely! For mine and my new husband's cupcake, Joe made us a very large cupcake, that was decorated to match the theme of our wedding! All the cupcakes were cooked perfectly and very fresh! What I loved most about Just Joe's Desserts was that he came the day before the wedding and checked out our venue, met with me to see where everything was going so that I did not have to stress about it the day of. Joe's cupcakes are seriously "to die for". I have been fortunate to try many different delicacies created by Joe and I truly can't pick a favorite. The Reeses cupcakes, the cookies and cream cupcakes, are just fabulous, but the first time I had his chocolate with chocolate buttercream frosting, the skies opened up to rays of sunshine, and angels sang.
