Right when you walk in, the sweet aroma of fresh baked sweets welcomed you in. There was a good crowd inside which we thought were waiting to order but found out they were waiting for the fresh baked sweet bread. A must if you ever try any. Just looking through the case of all the amazing creation. Basically fancy donuts. One after the other. They also had a few savory items included. Didn't get any but they looked amazing. We ended up going with the bad bundles. Half dozen donuts and 20 piece staxx. Found out that's what people were waiting for when we walked in. Everyone was waiting for them to come fresh out of the oven hence the long wait. It did take a while for us but we were offered a cookie to try while waiting. It was delicious, I do recommend the ube cookies. After what did take a long while, we tried our fresh HOT box of staxx. Let me say, wow they were amazing and of course hot. Straight from the oven. Nice moist bread with a nice sweet glaze. I can see what the hype was about with them. Everyone in line for them. We didn't get a chance to try the donuts right away. By the time we had them, it had been sitting for a while. Still good but better if they were fresh from the start. It was good regardless and this place was great. Chef Metin is super nice!…read more We needed a cake for my husband's birthday and I wanted to get something a little more unique than a Costco cake. Looked on Yelp and saw Northstar's 5 star reviews and figured this would be a good opportunity to check it out. Great communication--Chef is fast at replying and he's super friendly in his emails. You can tell he is a happy and caring guy just based on his written responses. He also offers delivery for a small charge. I think we paid $20 which was worth it so I didn't have to worry about picking up a cake amidst a very busy schedule. Our cake was priced at $4-5/slice. Not cheap but it was reasonable. We got one mango and one strawberry. I sent photos of the theme we were going for, which was a Hawaiian theme. I wanted the cakes to look like a Hawaiian shirt. On the day of the event, Chef Metin delivered the cakes with a smile. I learned he used to be in the tech industry (I think he was a software engineer?) but now he does baking full time, which started out as a hobby. How fun! The cakes tasted great. We even had a few guests asking where we got them, to which we told them about Northstar Baking. My only area of improvement would be the look of the cakes. They didn't look like Hawaiian shirts and the color was a strange purplish-gray, which looked a little odd (though it doesn't look too bad in my photo). But I probably should have communicated a theme color or discussed the look better. But other than that, it was a unique cake and the guests were happy. Would definitely recommend Northstar and Chef Metin to friends and family!

The Cakes Nest truly exceeded my expectations with the amazing and delectable cake they created for my daughter's first birthday! The theme was bunny, and they flawlessly executed the design I had in mind. I cannot praise them enough for their exceptional work. We ordered the chocolate cake with mango buttercream, and it was moist and absolutely delicious. The cake pops, in red velvet flavor, were equally scrumptious. I am beyond satisfied with their service and will definitely be ordering from The Cakes Nest for our next event! read more

I sent her a picture of a beach cake from the Internet but she said she didn't get it (huh?). My cake has a very faint blue hue that barely can be noticed and the sea shells she decorated the cake weren't realistic looking- they were pastel colored- the cake looked to me like a kids decor for Easter. I was expecting a grown up looking decor- I fixed it up though with more sea shells (real ones) to make it more adult and serious looking decor. She was kind enough to come back to see if she could help fix it which I appreciate it.
