Just a really great place. I joined last August and it's been a life changer. Jody's is a very different gym than your typical franchise fitness center. The staff is incredibly friendly and down-to-earth. They genuinely seem to care about you and your health, and they're always happy to offer suggestions and support. When Jody himself is in the gym, he's constantly walking around and encouraging everyone. His assistant trainers, Court and Charles, will spot for you for a few moments if you need it (both of them have really helped me improve my bench press over the last few months). If you need more personal and lengthy one-on-one time, they're available to work with you for a reasonable fee--and they know their stuff! Both are really good guys.
There are all ages and body types here; you won't feel intimidated at all. While there's a steady stream of clients, it's never very crowded. I've never had any trouble getting time on the equipment I need, and it's top-of-the-line equipment too.
You really get a sense of community at Jody's, especially if you go regularly. Sure, it's a business, and Jody wants to make a decent living, but it seems to me that he wants to do so by giving something truly worthy to the local neighborhood. In other words, it's not about the money. I've never gotten a hard sell, no contract shenanigans, nothing of the sort. All the pricing is up front and easy to understand. When I think "small American business," Jody's Gym is the ideal. It's run by good, kind, honest people who clearly care about their clients and about the local neighborhood. You can tell that's what motivates them.
Obviously, I love this gym, and it's become my happy little sanctuary where I go to get away from all the stresses of life. If you're looking to get back on track with your health, I can't recommend Jody's enough. read more
