Jocelyn's was well known in Salem as a good Mediterranean restaurant. Due to family issues, she went out on her own and now has a restaurant in Methuen. I went there for lunch today and to say I was highly impressed would be an understatement. I am of Lebanese descent. I grew up with grandparents that came from Lebanon. I know my Lebanese food. And to tell you the truth, I had the best tabouli I have ever had in my life. Sorry Sithoo) it had a flavor that I had never experienced before. I also had a lamb wrap which was excellent. The french fries were excellent. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was modern yet cozy. If you want authentic Lebanese food go there. My wife and I love this restaurant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere gives chic and intimate cocktail bar[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], and servers are friendly and accommodating. Their kofta plate and Greek salad with chicken are our favorite meals. Last night we also ordered the fresh kousa as an app off the specials board. i've been seeing pictures of this place forever now, so i had to try it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]small place, but very cute inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] service was great, everyone was extremely friendly (host, bartender, waitress, etc). the only annoyance i had was that they posted pictures on their instagram of valentines themed drinks & that's kind of why we all went there- i showed the bartender and asked her if i could have one, she said they don't have the ingredients for it. ok... why post it on your social media then? just weird but not a dealbreaker. so anyways, we got a minty martini and then got biscoff ones, that was a 10/10 drink. their martinis are stronger than i expected! we got the spinach and artichoke dip, was okay, we had to salt it & it was super oily. my cousin got the chicken tenders lol, she liked them. my other cousin got the greek salad with steak tips, cooked medium rare. the salad was good but a few of her steak tips were cooked super raw, like purple. i got the Caesar salad with steak tips cooked medium, and i loved it i thought it was really good, my steak was cooked perfect. i'm not super familiar with mediterranean food, but i would definitely like to explore their menu a little more! read more

I've been to Sevmar in Salem and loved it! Figured I should try the other location. I came here as part of a group of five at 6:15 on a Friday night. We were the only people there for a while (it started to fill in by 7). The staff was extremely friendly, but there was no excuse for how long it took us to put our order in. That was really the only negative part of our experience. Aside from that, the food is phenomenal. Some of the best spanakopita around. The drinks are so creative and made so well. The food portions are huge! Despite the slow service, I will return to either location. read more

Uh-oh been a big fan of Jocelyn's endeavors in the past so I hope this is a one off fluke. They used to have the best kibbe and falafel. However what I ordered last night were absolutely rock hard and tasteless. I must say everything on the sample platter lacked seasoning. I really mean this to be a wake up call. Naya was a great warm welcome when we came in and offered us a choice of places to sit, we chose the bar. Haley immediately greeted us and was a fantastic bartender, making us drinks that's weren't even on the menu! The service was 10/10, the food was a 10/10, and I will be a return customer!! read more

As for the main courses - rice was hard and didn't have a lot of flavor. Veggies were super crunchy - baby carrots tasted raw rather than steamed. Went to Jocelyns by Sevmar in Methuen last week. This is a fairly new restaurant and wanted to try it out. I have been to Jocelyns in Salem NH years ago and was not that trilled with it, but it has been years, so decided we'd try it out. Let me first say, I am not really big on Mediterranean, but there were several options like chicken kabobs I knew I could order. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is very small. Only one area with tables, so seats are very close together. There is a very long bar, if you like eating at the bar[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. We were seated. It took quite sometime for out waitress to come over and quickly realized there was only one waitress for all of the tables. We ordered our drinks, one being a Passionfruit Mojito. When the mojito came, it had "BLACK" pieces of mint in it. My daughter asked for some fresh pieces of mint. The waitress never came with them so she went up to the bar and asked for it....The bartender told her they didn't have any. How cam you be a Mediterranean restaurant and not have fresh mint" They can't possibly cook or serve drinks with mint that has GONE BAD and all black...can they? So, she ordered the same Watermelon Sangria that I got. I wasn't paying attention as I would have told her it wasn't very good. Not to mention the two drinks were a completely different color. A warm basket of pita bread was brought to the table was very good I ordered the Chicken Kabobs, with rice (which comes with fresh mixed vegetables or sauteed peppers and onions) and salad. My husband ordered fried fish, mashed potatoes and fries. Daughter ordered the steak kabobs done medium, rice and salad. The dinners came and my chicken was very good. Two skewers, very juicy. I could have taken or left the fresh vegetable though. They had literally nothing on them (no oil, butter or seasoning), and they use those tiny baby carrots that never seem to soften no matter how long you cook them. Chicken kabob dinner $ 24.00. My husbands fish was no doubt FROZEN! and horrible tasting.....We should have asked if it was fresh or frozen but NEVER dreamed, they would ever serve frozen fish.His mashed potatoes were instant and not good, The fries were typical frozen, nothing special. The entrée was $24.00... $24.00 for a FROZEN piece fish is unacceptable!...If you can't serve fresh fish, take it off the menu. Either that or disclose to your customers you serve previously frozen and already pre-battered fish. Daughters steak kabobs were not medium they were rare and were tough. Some were cooked a little more than others so she just ate the ones that were more cocked. Steak kabob dinner $29.00! The entire experience took forever for a weeknight. Have no problem at all with their prices which are in line with other restaurants... But way too much money for what you receive, and for the quality and preparation of some of the entrees ....This was a let down. read more

What a great place. I'll certainly be back. My friend, Harry, recommended it since we had a boys night out and ate here prior to seeing a movie. The hummus, salads and kebab dinners were amazing. So juicy and tender. Large portions so I have dinner for tomorrow night too. Excellent service. I look forward to coming back and going to that awesome bar in the restaurant. First time at this location and we're not disappointed. They took a reservation which was very convenient (and recommended for Friday and Saturday night). We were greeted at the door by a friendly face and shown to our table. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor is the first thing that strikes you, modern, contemporary but with an inviting warm from the employment of foliage accents.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is compact but well planned with bar seating and individual tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parties from two to eight were accommodated during our visit. The flatbread was super fresh, so too were the accompanying salads. I ordered a very satisfying smoked old fashioned ( Pic) and the Kofta. These were the best tasting in the valley. We also had the lamb kebabs which were flavorful and tender. The fries served are fantastic, crisp and perfectly cooked through. We will be back. I hosted my son's First Communion lunch here and the team was SUPERB. Everything from the communication from the event team (thank you Joanne!!) from my initial email to phone calls to additional emails with countless questions- all of these were fielded with the utmost professionalism. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we got to the day of the event, everything went great- I received a lot of praise for how great the space was an how much food there was - my only regret was not getting a box of french fries and hommus to go! :)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The wait staff was absolutely incredible and paid attention to every detail- they made sure to check with me before bringing out food and dessert and made sure all of my guests were well taken care of. The place looks nice! And they had a lot of customers around 4:30. When it was the Sahtine or the Pho place, et. I don't recall many customers when I'd pick up food there. The place being full of customers is a good sign it will do well! Babaganoush...excellent! Pretty much any place makes this right and usually all taste the same! Baked stuffed shrimp... excellent! Falafel...excellent. With these at restaurants it could be too dry or just right...they were just right. The center was moist and not dry and that was good! The outside was crunchy. Went to Jocelyn's by Sevmar on Friday and it did not disappoint!! My friend and I had dinner at the bar. Our bartender Christina was superb! She was super helpful when we were trying to decide what to drink. I got the Monarch martini and my friend got the Pear martini. The food was out of this world. My friend and I are big foodies so we love good food. She got the kabob trio and I got the Mediterranean pasta. Everything was cooked to perfection. A lot of times kabobs are over cooked. These were not. We ended our meal with the pistachio ricotta cake. It was so light and full of flavor. We definitely will be back! read more

My husband and I have eaten at Jocelyn's by Sevmar in Methuen about four times. We sit at the bar and go early, around 4:30-5:00 to avoid the rush. The food has been excellent each time. The chicken kabob dinner is very moist and flavorful and comes with two skewers. My husband loves the hummus. Once the french fries were small and burnt so I order a baked potato instead. House dressing is very good on salads, but they charge $1.00 for an extra dressing. Service at the bar is A+. I ate my entire entree with an empty glass in front of me while being completely ignored by bartender as she cleaned and continued to walk past me without checking in once. Sorry to have to write this as my friends seem to think that there's no problem here however I was here for the first time on Sunday. I ordered a simple Greek salad with a lamb skewer of kebab without doubt I waited almost 40 minutes for our meal. Upon receiving the meal it became evidently clear that the vegetables were not ripened. The lettuce was almost white tomatoes, pink Cumbres were okay, the lamb kebab which I was served I could tell was from the night before the lamb was dried out tough and a few pieces grizzled, A pretty hefty price for a Greek salad with a chunk of meat. All total almost $30 for the salad total came to 200. Not a problem we paid and after our long wait we were rushed out for the next reservation m. I just will not return. I don't wish to be served old food. Wait for it and then be charged a heavy fair. I don't know how it stays in business, but I don't think it'll be for long. read more

My husband and I frequent both restaurants on occasion. On March 6 2025 we were met with hostility from some of the staff, as well as a patron. Our server Delaney was professional, and pleasant. The bartender who was working wasn't so friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The patron who was seated at the bar obviously had a problem with the hat that I was wearing which was political.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The bartender obviously agreed with her, as well as the other waitress who was working. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The dirty looks, cold stares, and downright rudeness was enough for my husband and I to decide that this restaurant is no longer for us.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I've experienced the same attitude at this particular location in the past. Words of advice to jocelyn, train your staff to not allow their political views to interfere with their professionalism, you will lose alot of patrons like us. read more

The worst service. Sat at the bar on a Tuesday night. The bartender had to research how to make an old fashioned- it wasn't good, loaded with simple syrup. We ordered meals , and a potato on my date's plate was rotten. They replaced it - after my date was done eating the rest of his dinner. Then we were pretty much ignored. Nobody ever asked us if we wanted a second drink. No water refills. Saw the staff on cell phones while we sat there. Very poor service. Told an owner. He didn't have much to say. I have to say, I was rather impressed by our excellent meal at Jocelyn's new restaurant in Methuen. We would go to the former Salem NH restaurant 4-5x a year, and with trial and error we figured out what they did well and what was worth avoiding. Across the board, the food is better in this new incarnation of Jocelyn's than at the old Jocelyn's in Salem. The hummous is better, the lamb shish kebab is better, and even the salads are better. It seems there is a different cook and different recipes in the new restaurant because things do not taste as they did before - and it's all an improvement. We also ordered the raw kibbee as an appetizer, and to all of our taste it was a bit too salty. Perhaps that's not the norm for their raw kibbee and that evening's dish was an exception, but I'd be more careful about ordering that next time. The only criticism I would offer is the rice pilaf could use a little more flavor - it tasted bland and washed out. But the more important story is the lamb shish kebab. I'd be straining to remember a better version of that dish that I've had in any restaurant - ever. It was cooked perfectly (medium rare - exactly as ordered), the spicing was wonderful, and there was a tremendous balance of flavors between the lamb and the marinade. 10 stars if I could for lamb shish kebab! The vegetables were flavorful, fresh, and nicely cooked - and not overcooked as they often can be. We are very much looking forward to our next visit to Jocelyn's in Methuen. read more

This is my third visit. My previous experiences have been great. I came in on a Friday evening without a reservation and the hostess accommodated me with a commitment to clear my table in an hour. I ordered and when my food didn't show up after a 35 minute wait, the manager stepped in and addressed the issue. Twenty minutes later my food finally arrived but in a to-go container and my bill. My server couldn't have been more apologetic. I asked to follow up with the manager but was told she left the building. Staff were kind, but a very disappointing experience with a place that I previously enjoyed. read more

We came for an early dinner around 5 pm, and despite not having a reservation and there being a ton of open tables, the hostess had to ask the manager if a table was open. The manager told us we would need to be quick because they needed us out by 6:15 pm. There were a few mistakes with our order and they were installing fixtures during dinner service. I understand with a new restaurant that these things need to be done, but they could have waited. It wasn't a good first impression. read more
