We purchased the Ork Poster and we will definitely be back for more home stuff. The space they are in is awesome. It's like an old warehouse/loft that they converted into a really great show room for all of their furniture and homey knickknacks. You've got to check this place out.

Rosita did exactly what I needed: provided the guidance to get me past the paralysis of being overwhelmed by too many choices, plus pointing me to some good floor and countertop retailers. He then cut off communication as soon as he received the items, opened a chargeback with his bank, and refused any communication about what the issue could possibly be. As a small business, a chargeback for a large order is devastating, and his refusal to communicate and his execution of what is clearly a scheme to get expensive pieces for free is disgusting and fraudulent. We fired them…read more As a couple, we found the process to be awkward: the architects, with Treff LaFleche as the main contact person, didn't listen to many of our wishes and instead kept pushing certain features that we repeatedly said we didn't want. We also found the billing rates and hours to be very high. We even had almost comical arguments about the size of the project with many discussions about gross vs. livable space, even though all that was stipulated in the contract, and we had thoroughly scoped the anticipated cost of the project. After my wife became frustrated and then sketched out on her own what she wanted, we realized that we had the wrong architect. He was designing a house that he wanted vs. what we wanted. So, just after we fired Treff, we both felt incredibly relieved. He was imperious and didn't want to listen to us. Later, we learned that a friend of ours decided not to work with LDa; she said that Treff seemed very distracted. We later found a new architect, who proved to be amazing: very responsive, an open and positive attitude, listened carefully to us, and billed us at very "fair" rates and hours. We got the design we wanted, almost zero heartburn, and at a fraction of the cost of LDa. His name is Tim Blanchard. If you call him, feel free to mention my name. Edit, April 2017: 1. A few Yelpers contacted me, also lodging negative experiences with LDa. Here is a DM from one: "I can't remember whom we talked to, we kept being pushed around." Yup, they're pushy. 2. They also sell basic Mac accessories. Can't say much about their repairs, but the staff that I've interacted with are pleasant college kids who play non-offensive music, so work can be done. By the time you reach this end of Newbury it's a nice respite from the heat and weariness and an easy alternative to my couch-cum-office.

The men are so highly skilled. We continue to be happy with our beautiful deck. Therefore, we asked Ruy to install a Timberteck stair rail at our front doors, which also has withstood the test of time. We'd been concerned that installments like this would compromise the brick, whereby requiring a total rebuild, but a rebuild wasn't necessary. He also advise us on an easy and effective fix to divert water from flowing from the gutter and freezing to ice on those brick steps in winter. Based on the outcome of these projects, and our experience in their progression, we highly recommend this company.

They were supposed to build a new rubber roof. It started leaking on 3 separate occasions (which btw was never fully fixed -- we moved on to different contractors who did address the issues). And like I said, it would take months for them to actually come back and attempt to fix anything. Often they'd come by, look at the damage, then I wouldn't hear from them for multiple weeks. Meanwhile, more damage continues to accrue to the walls and ceilings. The internal fixes they applied for the water damage were just patch jobs. They just plastered and painted over. Meanwhile, the insulation behind the wall was soaked and accrued black mold that we had to address later. Also worth pointing out a major blunder at the beginning of the project (see attached videos and pics). They opened up the roof, and left it open for multiple days without doing any work. Well of course a major rainstorm came by (which was on the weather forecast well in advance). Alll that water poured into the house in the middle of the night setting off fire alarms. It was a nightmare to deal with on my end.

Serge and his team came in, replaced all of them, and the workmanship was outstanding. Our project involved replacing 13 interior doors (including 3 double door closets), and because our home has non-standard door sizes, it required extensive measuring and planning. Serge took the time to carefully measure everything multiple times and even researched the best sources to find the right doors rather than taking shortcuts. He also replaced a bathroom threshold and completed a few other projects, all with the same attention to detail. Throughout the project, Serge was exceptionally communicative, professional, and reliable. His crew was hardworking, respectful, quiet, and left the house clean at the end of each day. Most importantly, the quality of the workmanship was exceptional. Serge is a true perfectionist, and it shows in every detail. The doors fit perfectly, operate smoothly, and the finished product exceeded my expectations. I cannot recommend working with Joanne Modica Interior Design LLC based on our experience. Over the course of a year long project, the decorator consistently demonstrated unprofessional behavior, poor follow-through, and a lack of competence. - Project Oversight: Dozens--if not hundreds--of aspects of the project were handled negligently. Incorrect rugs and sizes were ordered, deliveries were left unsupervised (resulting in damage to the home, including a sleeper sofa damaging doors), and tile measurements and cuts were mishandled, causing tens of thousands of dollars in errors and significant delays. - Lack of Follow-Through: Multiple corrections and additions were promised but never completed. Insets for end tables never materialized, incorrect or misordered lampshades were left unresolved, and items she was slated to handle were left cluttering the home and collecting dust. - Vendor Practices: Instead of engaging reputable vendors, the decorator relied on friends posing as legitimate providers. Every order placed through these channels was incorrect and excessively costly, raising serious concerns about potential kickbacks. She also used a painter who charged double the market rate and applied latex paint over oil, requiring the entire project to be redone. - Cost and Communication: There was no regard for transparency or budget. For example, she ordered a multi-thousand-dollar desk without disclosing that it was used. When a cost breakdown was requested, she abruptly quit the project without the courtesy of a phone call, refusing to discuss matters further. Instead, she sent an email stating: "There are no circumstances under which I would ask any of my vendors or Trades for their proprietary or business information." - Accountability: Issues were met with emotional appeals rather than professional responsibility. Ultimately, when the mounting errors became too significant to ignore, the decorator abandoned the project, leaving us with incomplete work and substantial fallout to manage ourselves. She creates disorder and leaves others to clean it up. For these reasons, I strongly advise against engaging her services. I highly regret my decision to work with Decoraid and would urge friends or strangers against…read moreworking with them, and I feel personally taken advantage of. The final outcome took over 9 months and left 40% of the proposal unfilled with no payment back to me for missing services. My main feedback is that the process the firm runs is *incredibly* inefficient and leaves almost no opportunity for collaboration. The other is that the designers are basically just internet shoppers, with no connection to the things they're actually buying. With two in person meetings followed by a single proposal, there's basically no chance to actually get a good outcome. No one knows exactly what they want in the first meeting, and if they did they wouldn't need Decoraid. It takes working through options and figuring out what works well together. Neither designer I worked with (I was given a new designer after 4+ months of nothing happening with the first) used a pinterest board (something that seems super weird for an interior designer) that we could have collaborated through. Instead, they sent over single rug options without any context on other pieces that would fit with it. The reason I would pay someone $2,000 to help design a studio apartment would be for their creative spirit and perspective, and neither were proactive at all - basically just taking the things I wanted and googling them to find options. If you see a couch without pillows or a blanket, shouldn't she be calling out that I need that? Shouldn't she be architecting what to do with a blank 2 floor wall that's 20 feet wide? This seems to be a foundational expectation hearing about friends' experiences with other designers. The other missing aspect is that the designers used entirely cookie cutter options - only limited to West Elm, Crate and Barrel, and All Modern. Interior Designers are supposed to know more than you and do things you can't do in your own free time. They're supposed to have a good eye and be tuned in to off the beaten track options, visiting markets and fairs and hunting for good options. To be honest, they weren't even been good at the cookie cutter options - suggesting terribly uncomfortable itchy thin rugs, and couldn't find a Brass Mirror that was available to order which I found for myself within 10 minutes of looking. Of the first three items to arrive, I returned two of them because they didn't fit. With the amount of effort this took on my side and the time it's taken and the bad results it's yielded, along with no recourse for missing items from the initial proposal, I feel taken advantage of.

Decor Aid allowed me to get the help I wanted for a very affordable price. My living room pieces are now arriving and I love the result. Because I live out in the suburbs in Boston, they did not have a person that could come to my home. However, they still helped me my putting me in contact with their NYC office (Meredith Cook was my designer, she's amazing) and we did all the work through skype/phone/email. It was very convenient. Meredith was very professional, responsive and patient (with the couple of times I changed my mind) and really tried to work with me in understanding my style before proposing a plan. I plan on using them again for the other rooms in my house.

We particularly appreciated the fact that she was sensitive to our budget, offering suggestions that could be implemented now as well introducing possible ideas for the future. While she has lovely taste and excellent instincts, Kathryn took care never to impose her ideas; instead, she offered guidance, then encouraged us to embrace the choices that spoke to us. She helped us with paint colors, furniture dimensions, traffic flow, lighting options, and all sorts of additional things -- from the small to the structural -- that we never would have known about. To top it all off, she was professional in every way, as well as a personal delight to work with. Paola met with us for about 2 hours at our house, two months before we were going to sell. She gave us a run down of what she thought should be done. This included changing a carpet, painting a small room a neutral color, chopping down a small bush, getting rid of various pieces of furniture, moving some art work. We decided to go with it as we liked Paola's style. She is very direct and businesslike and we felt that she knew what she was doing. We did what she said and then about 5 days before the first open house she came back and she dressed each room with vases, throws, paintings, decorations. She moved furniture from one room to another, making me wonder why I hadn't thought of doing that while we lived there! In the end, our 36 year old house looked like a new house. We were delighted. I am pleased to say that our house looked so good that it sold the day after the open house for the asking price. It was a nice house anyway, but Paola made it really shine.

Our house went under agreement the first Open House weekend. Paola was easy to communicate with even answering last minute decor questions. She was mindful of all the costs of selling the house and accepted her payment when we finally closed. We really appreciated her help!

For us, Linda's services were indispensable. If you aren't very familiar with the whole building and renovation field, or don't have a great eye for design, I would strongly recommend her.

The…read morefurniture, decor , and accessories were not only stylish and well placed, but perfectly to scale and really showed buyers how they could make the most of every room. Coupled with being certain the property was not priced too high, having this level of staging made the photos come out amazing, drawing lots of action to open houses... 10 offers, went well over asking, all cash, and a quick close. Numerous factors at play to make all of this happen, but the staging was most certainly a critical one. The cost to have Santina work her magic paid for itself many times over and really boosted the sale to another level. Cannot recommend her highly enough!

They have made my apartment look so warm and inviting - it looks like it could be in a catalogue. Their selection of furniture and accessories was spot on - perfectly sized for my home. I second one of the other reviewers - they picked items that I would never have sought out on my own and their use of color and texture makes the whole space pop. My apartment finally feels like a home and it's been wonderful to walk into this lovely space every day! They were very communicative and highly responsive during the entire design process, gently persuaded me to trust them during my periods of nervousness, and stayed within the planned budget and completed the work in a timely manner. They were wonderful to work with. I would highly recommend this team!

Shawn understood our style wasn't conventional and that our home had some challenges with the layout. Versus working off photos and verbal description, he offered to come to our home in order to help recommend the best option for our wall coverings in a main bedroom, and en-suite, along with 3 floors of stairwells. They didn't try to push their tastes on me, but listened to what I liked and had great ideas to help guide me with choices. They put in space saving glass doors from Italy and installed a gas fireplace in my living room that I'm extremely satisfied with. They handled everything (permit/electrician/contractor). Overall a great experience and I'm contemplating using them again for other projects in my condo in Boston.
