She handled our nearly bi-annual slipcovering (two cats!), and re-did the hardwood floors (I use a wheelchair, had done a number on them, and never really liked the original finish). What's next may not matter to you, but it did to me. I gave her my keys, we went to our little Cape Cod getaway, she emptied our joint, got the work done, got the joint cleaned, everything back in place -- and we returned. You know what that is for me? Trust. Trust is a thing, just like excellent taste.

I highly regret my decision to work with Decoraid and would urge friends or strangers against…read moreworking with them, and I feel personally taken advantage of. The final outcome took over 9 months and left 40% of the proposal unfilled with no payment back to me for missing services. My main feedback is that the process the firm runs is *incredibly* inefficient and leaves almost no opportunity for collaboration. The other is that the designers are basically just internet shoppers, with no connection to the things they're actually buying. With two in person meetings followed by a single proposal, there's basically no chance to actually get a good outcome. No one knows exactly what they want in the first meeting, and if they did they wouldn't need Decoraid. It takes working through options and figuring out what works well together. Neither designer I worked with (I was given a new designer after 4+ months of nothing happening with the first) used a pinterest board (something that seems super weird for an interior designer) that we could have collaborated through. Instead, they sent over single rug options without any context on other pieces that would fit with it. The reason I would pay someone $2,000 to help design a studio apartment would be for their creative spirit and perspective, and neither were proactive at all - basically just taking the things I wanted and googling them to find options. If you see a couch without pillows or a blanket, shouldn't she be calling out that I need that? Shouldn't she be architecting what to do with a blank 2 floor wall that's 20 feet wide? This seems to be a foundational expectation hearing about friends' experiences with other designers. The other missing aspect is that the designers used entirely cookie cutter options - only limited to West Elm, Crate and Barrel, and All Modern. Interior Designers are supposed to know more than you and do things you can't do in your own free time. They're supposed to have a good eye and be tuned in to off the beaten track options, visiting markets and fairs and hunting for good options. To be honest, they weren't even been good at the cookie cutter options - suggesting terribly uncomfortable itchy thin rugs, and couldn't find a Brass Mirror that was available to order which I found for myself within 10 minutes of looking. Of the first three items to arrive, I returned two of them because they didn't fit. With the amount of effort this took on my side and the time it's taken and the bad results it's yielded, along with no recourse for missing items from the initial proposal, I feel taken advantage of.

Decor Aid allowed me to get the help I wanted for a very affordable price. My living room pieces are now arriving and I love the result. Because I live out in the suburbs in Boston, they did not have a person that could come to my home. However, they still helped me my putting me in contact with their NYC office (Meredith Cook was my designer, she's amazing) and we did all the work through skype/phone/email. It was very convenient. Meredith was very professional, responsive and patient (with the couple of times I changed my mind) and really tried to work with me in understanding my style before proposing a plan. I plan on using them again for the other rooms in my house.

We turned to Kathryn for…read moreadvice when blending households and she was exceptionally helpful, taking the time to get a sense of our tastes as individuals, then using our input to help us create a harmonious, welcoming home together. Kathryn was generous with her knowledge, such that we came away not only with recommendations, but with an understanding of the principles behind them. She answered our questions intelligently, then expanded into possibilities we hadn't even considered. We particularly appreciated the fact that she was sensitive to our budget, offering suggestions that could be implemented now as well introducing possible ideas for the future. While she has lovely taste and excellent instincts, Kathryn took care never to impose her ideas; instead, she offered guidance, then encouraged us to embrace the choices that spoke to us. She helped us with paint colors, furniture dimensions, traffic flow, lighting options, and all sorts of additional things -- from the small to the structural -- that we never would have known about. To top it all off, she was professional in every way, as well as a personal delight to work with. When it's time for our next interior design project, Spring Green Interior Design will be our first call.

For my wife, it was picture 4, and the subtle design choices that made the office, a place she would work, feel like home. Intellectually we understood that a listing is not a home. We knew that paint color could be changed and furniture is not a fixture, but after months of house hunting there were many times when we went back and forth between the floor plan and the pictures of empty rooms trying to make sense of the space. There was more than one house that had the right square footage and bathrooms, in the right location, that we never visited because the mismatched pictures didn't connect with us in the way we "knew" our home would. It was a little irrational, certainly, but purchasing a home is about what feels right, not just what is right. We are deeply appreciative of Mark's work, for enrapturing us, and pulling us in, and making sure that we felt an instantaneous connection with the home we so deeply love. In fact, we loved the staging work of the Mark Luther Design team so much, we purchased more than half of the pieces. Mark has been a delight to work with, and I couldn't recommend him more highly.

I was…read moreskeptical about retaining a stager because my place is fairly small and I wasn't sure it was worth the cost. The issue with staging is that you have to have faith. You will never know how much of an impact it had, if any. I think Maureen did a great job though! She told me what items to put into storage to make my place look bigger and she reorganized my things in a way that made the condo more inviting. She also brought in some of her own things to complete the picture. I would highly recommend DaVinci if you are going to use a stager. My realtors use her themselves when they sell their own homes too. She is definitely an expert at what she does! The only reason I am giving 4 instead of 5 stars is because of the cost. My condo is only 700 square feet and the cost was $2,500. Maureen came for an initial consult and then spent one full day staging. Again, I have no way of knowing how much added benefit the staging had with the sale price and while I'd like to think it increased the sale by at least $2,500 I just don't know. In any case, I would still highly recommend DaVinci, especially if you have a larger home or you are selling in a less desirable area as I think the added benefit will be more noticeable.

First project: After a few failed attempts to work with decorators, I received a very strong referance from a dear friend that Davinci Designer Gallery - Maureen Reddy - was the way to go.... She was right! My first work with Maureen was to help with the selection of colors for all of the first floor rooms. We have a home that is full of art that we have collected from around the world. We also have an eclectic collection of antiques and other objects. Maureen took everything in, in additon to our unique sensibilities and in a very short time recommended colors for each room. To this day we still receive compliments on the lovely colors and how beautifully they work with our art. Second Project: Now we are really ready for big changes and called Maureen Reddy once again. She helped me think through and design everything - from the choices of new furnature - to the selection of fabrics for three antique wing chairs an antique couch and much more. She has an amazing eye for detail and design -- I still am amazed at how well she is able to understnad what we like and at the same time help us move in new directions - from rugs to lampts to other objects from her personal collection - the result was breathtaking! She (Maureen) is professional, honest and fair in her pricing and an amazing artist. She's also a lot of fun to work with! We recommend Davinci and Maureen 1000% and can't want for the next project - the re-do of the entire upstairs of our home.
