They gut renovated both of our bathrooms, which was no easy task considering the overall age of our house, size of our bathroom, and required customization. The quality of work in our bathrooms is top notch. Their ability to proceed with care, efficiency, problem-solve, communicate, and their attention to detail is outstanding. We feel like we had so many tall requests for this project and they delivered on all of them.

The on-site manager, Jonathan, was great, and they gracefully and quickly responded to additional requests and changes of plans we requested, including entirely changing one of the windows. Even our neighbor reached out to tell us how nice and respectful they were and asked us how we found them. The answer is that I just saw that they were well-reviewed on Yelp, so I'm adding my review here too. Their pricing was very reasonable, and their work was exceptional. They replaced a shower system, which involved breaking existing tile and seamlessly re-tiling the affected section after the new shower was installed. During the process, they covered the opening with plastic so we could continue using the shower (even though it only took a couple of days). The re-tiled area blends perfectly with the rest of the shower (see attached pic). You'd never know it was repaired. They also repaired significant water damage from burst pipes, replacing and adding insulation and drywall, installed recessed lighting with dimmers, replaced a window and glass shower doors, swapped out an awkward set of swinging bathroom doors for a proper door, and took care of several long-overdue household repairs. Everything was completed quickly, quietly, and efficiently. If we ever need renovations in the future, we'll definitely be using them again.

They were supposed to build a new rubber roof. It started leaking on 3 separate occasions (which btw was never fully fixed -- we moved on to different contractors who did address the issues). And like I said, it would take months for them to actually come back and attempt to fix anything. Often they'd come by, look at the damage, then I wouldn't hear from them for multiple weeks. Meanwhile, more damage continues to accrue to the walls and ceilings. The internal fixes they applied for the water damage were just patch jobs. They just plastered and painted over. Meanwhile, the insulation behind the wall was soaked and accrued black mold that we had to address later. Also worth pointing out a major blunder at the beginning of the project (see attached videos and pics). They opened up the roof, and left it open for multiple days without doing any work. Well of course a major rainstorm came by (which was on the weather forecast well in advance). Alll that water poured into the house in the middle of the night setting off fire alarms. It was a nightmare to deal with on my end.

The crew always showed up on time, was pleasant, worked hard, and left the work areas clean at the end of each day. One of the things that Beroli excels at is communication. Each day we always knew who would be there, what time they were arriving, and what they were going to work on. Anything unexpected or needing a decision was always brought to our attention immediately. Beroli's entire staff always gave a sense of urgency to make sure that we were happy with the results of every aspect of the project; no detail was too small. Designworks gave us a sparkling new hardwood floor and cushiony top-of-the line carpeting on the 2nd floor for the first job. Paul came highly recommended by friends and quite frankly when you see his work it sells itself. We went with them even though the estimate was higher than another contractor because this company bases their estimates off the costs of the highest priced supplies. The real cost depends on the quality of product you choose to have installed. So these estimates are truely accurate if you want the best product in your property investment. Given the amount of stress I was under due to planning our wedding in 3 months, moving and changing employers, working with Designworks was a stress relief. When the work was complete my house was sparkling. They vacuumed the entire house, no foot prints, saw dust or any trace of their presence was left behind! They handled demolition, moving heavy appliances out of the kitchen and recommended tiling for the entryways to preserve the life of the wood. Being a new homeowner I was so thankful for Paul's knowledge. He clearly communicated all costs and any decisions we had to make. We just hired Designworks to update our bathroom venthilation system and toilets this past April,2012. Again, so happy with the work. The job included a full kitchen remodel, demolition of an un-permitted upstairs addition, new roof & gutters, new floor and subfloor throughout entire house, conversion of garage into a useable studio / workspace, extensive outdoor decking and stairs, new windows, water heater, electrical panel, various small fixes that arose during the process, and one giant unexpected detour when some demolition uncovered a leaning foundation and deteriorating slab that needed repair. Victors communication, attention to detail, and creativity were outstanding He kept us informed at every step of the way. And was always available to answer questions and address concerns. We were first time home-buyers and renovators, and needed a little hand-holding at times. His design suggestions were great, too. And he was full of creative solutions for the various issues, big and small, we uncovered with the house during the process. And most importantly, when the discovery of the foundation damage threw us way over our initial budget and threatened to derail our plans, Victor worked closely with us to figure out a way to make it all work. He went above and beyond in so many ways, big and small. Always striving to make sure that we were 100% satisfied. Victor is very patient, cooperative and kind. I'm kind of a lot, and he did a great job of putting up with me. We experienced a number of setbacks and delays because I insisted on very specific materials for certain things, and he was right there with me the whole way, even when we ended up special-ordering shingles from halfway across the country. Victor's team are all highly skilled and take pride in their work. They demolished the old porch, removed all debris, and built us a brand new one. They fixed the siding the old one had messed up. They replaced the gutters with new ones. They patched up the newly-exposed part of the chimney. Every last detail. I also didn't have to hassle Victor to get a permit; he just did it. Which is such a baseline expectation it shouldn't make him stand out amongst his competition. Sadly, it very much does. Whenever you take on a home remodeling project like this, you have a picture in your mind of what you want. For this project, we had really specific ideas, a mix of old and new, materials and techniques. Which is normal. And it never turns out that way. Not once in all the renovation and rebuilding projects I've done over the years. Reality just doesn't live up to imagination. So I don't know how to put this in terms that will communicate how rare and remarkable it is. Our porch is exactly right. It is exactly what we wanted, and looks exactly how we imagined it. I don't think there's any possible stronger recommendation I can give than that. We couldn't be happier. And I am pretty sure that in another 125 years, whoever is living in this house is going to say, "Well, the place is showing some real wear, but at least the front porch is still in great shape."

The conversation quickly turned unpleasant for me. I felt like I was being interrogated rather than learning more about this company. This woman fired at me with a barrage of questions some of which I felt were too personal, too irrelevant and too premature at this early stage of the proposed project. I had really hoped to find out more about what services they offered. However, I didn't get much of a chance to ask any questions myself because she took over the entire conversation and had a long list of questions for me! What bothered me the most was her superior attitude and her speaking down to me; it was demeaning. She made me feel as though they would be doing me a favor by taking on my project, maybe it wasn't big enough for them, who knows. She said it would take 3 to 4 months just to come up with a design, never mind implementation. Overall, the sense I got was that they only wanted to deal with big lucrative projects and they were qualifying me to see if it was worth their time. She did not listen to me or seem to care about my concerns. Based on my poor initial contact with them I hired another company to do my project.
