We consulted with several contractors and ultimately settled on BBC due to the competitive price, references, and availability. We worked with Eduardo and his team throughout the duration of the project. We are very happy with the outcome. The Quote & Final Price. Of those we contacted, BBC took the least amount of time to get us a quote. The quote was also the most detailed of the ones we received. Eduardo included renderings of the island remodel and surrounding space as well as a detailed breakdown of materials and labor. The quoted price was very competitive -- it was among the lowest. BBC completed the project for the quoted price in spite of a few unexpected complications we encountered along the way. Quality of work. We are extremely happy with the quality of the work performed. We were very up front about certain key requirements going into the project and Eduardo did a very good job making sure to adhere to them. For example, we wanted to make sure the island cabinetry matched our older, discontinued, cabinetry. Eduardo was able to match our own cabinets very closely without impacting the price. We also had a number of other very specific requirements regarding cabinetry arrangement and Eduardo stuck to it perfectly. We got what we asked for. Communication and experience. Eduardo and his crew kept the dialogue going throughout the project. We spoke regularly via telephone, email, and text message. They listened to our questions and concerns along the way and made adjustments based on our input. They were very good at explaining when certain things made sense and when they didn't. Eduardo and his team were not afraid to speak up when they thought their input would lead to a better result. For example, Eduardo and one of his team members (Daniel) had some suggestions about how to cut the granite to wrap around some steam pipes adjacent to the island. This resulted in a much better finished appearance and the additional cost was negligible. We are glad we listened to their suggestions as the final result is better than we had expected. We had a great experience with BBC and would use them again. We recommend them for anyone considering any type of project for their home. read more

This was one of the most frustrating and stressful experiences I've had with a contractor. Boston Best Construction started off responsive and convincing, but once they received payment, everything changed. The work was poorly executed, left incomplete, and my home was left in a disrupted and unacceptable condition for an extended period of time. I paid in advance expecting a professional job, but instead had to deal with delays, lack of accountability, and eventually a project that was simply abandoned. When I tried to address the issue and request a fair adjustment for the unfinished work, they refused to refund any portion of the payment. Even more concerning, instead of working toward a resolution, I was met with threats of legal action. As a homeowner, that felt extremely intimidating and inappropriate -- especially given that the work was not completed. What's especially concerning is that this does not appear to be an isolated incident. Multiple customers -- including Lisa, Sean Kelly, Simba, and others -- have reported very similar issues, such as the absence of a general contractor on-site, repeated delays, and projects left unfinished or unresolved. I strongly encourage anyone considering this company to carefully review those experiences before making a decision. There are also publicly available legal records involving this company, including a case with the Massachusetts Fair Labor Division (you can search for "Boston Best Construction LLC v. Fair Labor Division LB-24-0016" for more information). This entire situation caused unnecessary financial loss, disruption, and stress. Boston Best Construction is currently working on a 3600 sq foot 2 family gut rehab that is nearing completion and I am very satisfied with the quality of the communication, attention to detail, quality of craftsmanship, meeting milestones, and even issues resolution identified over the course of the job. BBC has been able to withstand any supply chain bottlenecks by staying on the pre-determined schedule too. It's hard to find an honest team in this industry and Eduardo is one of the few I have met that breathes honesty and professionalism. Might be the two most important qualities I look for. Best Boston Construction should be given a zero star rating if allowed. The company's owner Eduardo Muniz is the only person in the company who has a Construction Supervisor License (CSL# CS-108151). Eduardo's CSL license got suspended by the MA state license regulator for a year until March 2022 because he did not follow the engineering plans, caused our foundation walls to collapse, and created many safety violations. The city also issued "stop work order" to him. As the only building supervisor on the project, he barely go to the job site and had poor construction knowledge. He wasted 9m time when the project was expected to be completed in 6m. After giving him several months to make corrections but got little progress, we eventually replaced his company with another general contractor and spent another 6m to painfully correct his mistakes. Best Boston Construction appears to have a history of fraudulent practice. All the portraits of experienced construction professionals displayed on his company's web site turn out to be fictitious. Most photos on the web site are for Eduardo's own home and it was unclear that Boston Best Construction actually constructed it. Eduardo's work references are almost all for small scale projects such as kitchen renovation or bathroom addition. He signs contract for large scale projects, which he is incapable to develop, likely to get large amount of deposit paid in and then hold customers hostage with poor quality of work and no refund. For our multifamily renovation project, even in this perilous state, Eduardo aggressively hired lawyer to coerce us to pay for work that was not completed. read more

This past fall I hired Boston Best Construction to replace my existing deck with composite materials. I was tired of putting money into the existing deck every spring due to rotting wood. I am extremely pleased with how the deck turned out. I also asked for a gate at the top of the stairs for safety purposes and they delivered beyond my expectations. I need to start out by saying that we ultimately did not end up going with Eduardo and Boston Best for our home renovations as we were consulting with several different construction companies to get their input and estimates for the sizable project we were undertaking. However it was a tough decision for us and we have little doubt that Boston Best would have done an excellent job. During our consultation process Eduardo was very responsive, communicative, and understanding of our unique situation and needs. He was very detailed and prompt in providing us his estimate for the work we were considering and did not blink an eye when we changed our minds about what we wanted and asked him if he could rework his numbers to reflect the changes. He met with us several times and took us to one of his in-process construction projects. He also eagerly offered to take us to see some of his finished jobs, though we never got that far. If we had not decided on another general contractor who was recommended to us, I believe we probably would have been quite happy with Eduardo's work. read more

After sending our project drawings and scope sheets to 17 general contractors and meeting with several, we were happy to finally meet Eduardo with Boston's Best who responded to our request for a proposal within a few days for a walk thru that followed with a detailed estimate within a week. Our project consisted of a full gut and remodel of our existing 2,000 sf 100 year old post and beam home, we also demoed our existing 1 story garage, poured a new foundation with expanded footprint at the garage area and added a new 2 story garage addition with 700 sf in-law apartment above the garage that has a kitchenette, full bath, and 2nd story deck. Boston's Best did a great job with working thru existing conditions and design challenges with insightful recommendations and showed great competence in working with permitting agencies and local officials to give us a successful project. Throughout the project, Boston's Best was available to meet regularly to review project status and asked questions about what we wanted to do to finish the project to the highest standards. Eduardo was very responsive from the beginning. I posted my job on Thumbtack just to get an idea what my costs would be. I hadn't even decided if I would build it yet. Several vendors responded but in addition to responding, Eduardo wanted to come over, see the place, and make sure he was helping me through the initial decision making.. This was very helpful to me and helped me sort through the various quotes I got. Any questions I had he responded. And just talking too him, he exuded an air of confidence that inspired trust. I was not disappointed.. After successful HOA approval, city design review and permit approval (no easy feat.. took over a month for city to schedule us in), Eduardo showed up with his carpenter, Claudio, who would be the expert carpenter he found to execute. Claudio was amazing. He immediately attacked the job with a professionalism and passion I have never seen in construction. The pergola is in Ipe wood.. The hardest wood there is. Claudio loves to work with wood and although Ipe can be difficult to work with he is able to handle it with no problems. Eduardo was in communication every step of the way. In fact I went on vacation and got weekly updates with pictures. During the process Claudio had many ideas how to make it better than the original. Eduardo supported this process and allowed Claudio to do his very best. The end result speaks for itself. I've had several friends come over and admire their work and some of them will most likely hire Eduardo for their next project. Finally, once final inspection was done, Eduardo explained to me that due to his desire to do the job right, he didn't make as much as he anticipated but he wanted to be clear that even so he stood by his original estimate.
