I'm sorry I don't agree with all the rave reviews of this store. I agree that it is very large and there is a selection of crafting supplies which you will pay full retail for if you do not have a coupon. But my review is for "fabrics" which this store has in its name. Several times I have come to this store seeking upholstery fabric for chair seats but I have to leave empty handed because the vast majority of the fabrics are all marked that they could bleed onto other fabrics if used for seating. HELLO. I checked into this with the sales staff and they confirmed that you could walk away with the fabric stained onto your skirt or trousers after sitting on the fabric. Well the positive is that you are at least warned - IF you take the time to inquire into the markings on the labels. But if you are seeking fabric to actually use, this is not the place. I have to let you at least know that the Ramsey Discount Fabric Warehouse is everything this store is not if you are purchasing fabrics. That warehouse has my highest recommendation for selection and price. read more

I tried to pay with a gift card last night and I was told by the cashier her manager said "we aren't accepting gift cards today." Funny, the card reader didn't have any trouble reading the magnetic strip on my debit card! Unacceptable. read more

It's a chain so it pains my soul a bit that I like it so much. They're not scary uber Christian like some other chain craft stores, bonus points for that. They have a most excellent coupon policy (they take competitors as well) and their employees, for the most part, aren't dicks about implementing it. No one has ever coupon shamed me or rushed me in like Bc I dared to ask them to do their job ( I am so much nicer in person, at least less facetious). In fact every employee I have encountered has been most friendly and helpful. They have a great fabric and pattern selection, Doctor who, Star Trek, a dalek costume! Need I say more?! They also have every fleece or flannel you can imagine for those of you who like to make blankets, or have given up on life and wear the modern day sweatshirt outside your home or gym. They have a great selection in most things, paper goods, kids crafts, beading and the like. Their prices are on par or better than competing chains, and there's coupons on the app, website and circular, so you are aces. I signed up for a class when they had some open house half off deal. I am glad I did not pay full price Bc even though it was beginning sewing, we made nothing. They gave you a fat quarter... I could think of at least ten things you could do in under an hour with one of those. That is of no fault or reflection upon the instructor who was very kind and helpful. OH MY GOD this store is huge! They sell everything you need for all sorts of crafting including fabric, sewing supplies, sewing machines, scrapbook stuff, painting/art supplies, household decor, frames etc. Checkout is quick. Overall this is a good resource for crafting needs. read more

It's a nice store with a good fabric selection. However, the check out process is horrible. I usually go on my lunch hour and there's always a very long line winding through the maze. They really need to concentrate on busy hours and plan accordingly. If there's a glitch at one of the registers, it's a disaster because then the other cashier tries to help, rendering her line useless. The only reason I give it 4 stars and not 5 is because there are times I've shlepped up to the store only to find they are out of stock on the thing I traveled there for. This happened once when I went shopping for patterns, another time for buttons, and another time for fabric. The best thing about Jo-Ann is the coupons. This place used to be awesome. Maybe two years ago I would have NEVER written a poor review of this JoAnns. But after my experiences the last four times I will never shop at this location again. Each time I have gone recently if I've needed help with someone no one is around to help, I have to spend 10 minutes just trying to find someone, and then when I ask them a question about where something is located they either don't know, or they direct me to the wrong part of the store. I spent nearly 45 minutes trying to track down an sewing machine oil that I had checked online and known that it was in stock. After being told three different places to look by three different people, I was directed to a display for a separate partner company who is not part of JoAnns proper they just come and advertise their products occasionally and even they didn't have what i was looking for. After all of that I ended up leaving the store empty handed, after being told they "never carry it." (which makes no sense to me to have it listed in your inventory online then...but hey, what do I know?) The last straw was when I went there yesterday. After finding an item and wanting to check the color (it was Offray ribbon and it doesn't show the color unless it's scanned) I went to ask for assistance at the customer service desk. I stood there for ten minutes minimum, not a soul in sight. One or two eventually walked past me but didn't stop to ask if I needed help. There was one lone cashier standing at the check out counter staring at me and she didn't try to call anyone after she saw me waiting there for a while. Then "help" arrived. A JoAnn's employee showed up, scowling at me like I was a waste of her time, VERY slowly walked over to the computer behind the guest services desk and stood there. Typing on the computer...I was standing right in front of her, she didn't say, "can i help you?" Or, "is there anything you need?" finally she lets out a BIG SIGH and goes, "need something?" (Well, gosh golly no! I've been standing here for almost 15 minutes now, surely I DON'T need any help. Don't you think that if I could have avoided dealing with your lousy attitude I would have done so?) I simply replied and asked her to scan the ribbon, it was the wrong color, I left, and I'm not going back. Waste of my time and patience. Save yourself a headache. If you need to go to JoAnns, go to the smaller one Ramsey's Interstate Shopping Mall, they are much more accommodating, nice and knowledgeable. I went there after work and they had me in and out in 5 minutes no problem AND they found me the sewing machine oil that I had been looking for on my previous trip. read more

I like JoAnn Fabrics. The staff is friendly and the place is clean. You can't beat the array of cotton fabrics that JoAnn offers. In fact, their selection of cotton fabrics is better than many expensive store (read Mood) in the city. JoAnn does not have designer or high end fabrics but their selection of fabrics, besides cotton, is very good. They also have a variety of sewing products. Michael's now has a store in the city. Let's hope that Jo Ann can make an entrance. read more

I wish I could give less than 1 star! First, I will say that when I walked in it was nice and clean. As I walked through the store with my 76 y/o mom, I saw at least 3 friendly faces asking could they help. Everyone was knowledgeable and knew exactly what direction to point me. That ALL went out the window when we got to the register. First of all, the lady at the end called for the next customer. As I walked with my mother, who is on a cane, she saw us walking and she continued to say next as if to say hurry up. So we get to the register and she doesn't make eye contact or greet us. She kind of looked angry. She rings my mother up first and my mother pays. As she gives my mother her receipt, my mom says thank you and she looks at my mother as if she was from another planet and said nothing. Then we get to my transaction. I was purchasing over 200 sheets of card stock. At Michael's, when you buy that much paper, they count them by colors and then scan one and put in the amount; however, at Joann's they have to scan them one-by-one. So in order to move the process along and help the cashier out I had them neatly stacked in different colors. I also counted each set for her to make it easier on her. So I tell her how many it is of one of the sets and she looks at me for the first time ever, and says nothing. She then takes other paper and starts counting. So at that point I realized she didn't want my help so I put the papers down. After ringing for a while, she called the manager over and told him that the register is frozen. He looks at her and says to her how many did you scan? She says to him 138. He then says to her why would you do that when you know you can only scan 100 at a time. He then tells her you just have to wait until it becomes unfrozen because I can't do anything about it. So we wait for a while and nothing. Eventually, she opens the register next to her and starts scanning the other paper. She then has me paying for 30 to 50 sheets per transaction. After the first transaction she stares at me. I don't understand and then she says to me where is your coupon you want your coupon don't you with an attitude. At this point I am so annoyed; however, I just keep smiling. She finally got finished but we're still waiting for the other register with the 138 because it's still frozen. The manager comes back and says I'm going to void this transaction. So she had to scan them all over again. All the while she's taking her time scanning each one slowly. No rush. If she was upset when I got to the register, she was down right angry when she realized how much paper I had. So she finally finished after myself and my mother are standing at the register for around 40 minutes. She never apologized. So the whole time she was ringing she was putting the paper in plastic bags. You woul have thought that the card stock had done something to her because she was shoving the paper in the bag. So I'm watching her but I don't want to engage with her because she looks so upset. For each bag that she shoved a paper in the bag was ripped. If anyone has shopped at a craft store and purchased cardstock then you know you can easily rip the bag. And for some reason Joannes has the cheapest bags I have ever seen for such an expensive store. It doesn't even say Joannes on it. It has thank you on it. Like the bags yo see in Chinatown or with other street vendors throughout manhattan. She also double some of the bags but because she was so rough with them she ripped the first and the second bag. So when the transaction is finally finished in its entirety, I ask her if she could give me a few more bags. She says for what I've doubled your bags. I said to her some of the bags are ripped. She then says again but I've doubled your bags. I say they are both ripped and she says show me. So for each ripped bag I had to show her where the rip was. She then tells me that Joannes doesn't have a lot of bags she can't be giving me that many bags. I'm like is she serious or what. I'm not trying to take your precious bags. I need to be able to carry this paper out to my car and I brought over 200 sheets and she put like 50 sheets in each bag making them extremely heavy. She begrudgingly triples the bags that she had ripped while shoving the paper into the bag. WORST EXPERIENCE AT JOANN'S EVER! I was literally in stunned silence at how this woman was acting. Caught me completely off guard. All I could do was look and smile. She negated the pleasant experience I had prior to meeting her. She should not have to deal with the public. They need to put her in the stock room away from the public. read more

Store is immaculate as you walk in. Been going there for years and all I can say is that this stores staff members are so helpful and are not shy to offer you help and when you ask they go out of their way to assist in whatever you are looking for. When the line gets long. Assistance is there within seconds and the line moves along. End result no waiting. Coupons are available on line with your smart phone so the savings are there if the timing is right. Good luck and enjoy this store as I have for many years. read more

I like Joann's. I really do. But this particular store frustrates me. This store is fairly large with a very large fabric selection, which is key for me in a craft store. The traffic on the way is generally terrible - I don't go to this store unless I'm heading over in the early morning. We usually take the back roads to get here. I wanted to relay a quick incident from the last time I visited. It was during a sale, and I was attempting to buy something that required me to bring a ticket to the front of the store. The cashier couldn't find the item behind the counter, so she left without giving us an explanation. When she came back five minutes later, she explained that she hadn't found the item anywhere in the store - which should have been obvious since we needed to bring up the ticket in the first place. I asked her if she spoke to a manager about it and was ignored. She asked the other cashier who didn't understand what she meant at first until WE explained it to him. He called someone to check the stock in back. No one responded, and we waited. Finally, our cashier asked a different cashier to check the stock she called a DIFFERENT person to check (waited another five minutes for an answer) -- and there WAS NOTHING in stock. It was on the system as having 10 "in stock" but not in store - they explained to us that it was probably on the truck. So you mark an item in stock but it isn't in the store? My partner has worked in retail, and remarked later that this is terrible inventory organization. The other cashier (not our cashier) told us that we could buy it online for the sale price. It was useful but frustrating information. To their credit, I asked if I could get the sale price in the store if the item was out of stock online, and they marked up a flyer for me just in case. We wound up being able to purchase the item online for the sale price. However, while all of this was happening, the store was closing and there were constant announcements. I was able to tell how long we had been standing WAITING at the cashier by the constant, every-five-minute updates we got until store closing. We had been standing - waiting for a simple answer for 20 minutes. 20 minutes!! And we were still waiting for information after the store had officially closed. I have generally avoided Joann's brick-and-mortar store simply for the traffic, but this incident had me thinking twice about visiting Joann's in the future. I usually go here for sewing items, but there are other places for those items in my area. read more
