Just to walk around and explore the store is a joyful experience in itself. It was so fun to walk through aisles of coloring tubes, color pencils, water colors, and clay/modeling materials. Prices were decent. They were having Spring sales and discounts on a lot of items. Over the years I have been to this store few times. Once to buy most of the materials for an art class. Past week we went to buy some colors and crayons for our daughter. The checkout process was quick and easy. The associate helped us to sign up for a free rewards account. Wide variety of art materials . First timer and I was astonished with the selections. Canvas , oil paints , etc etc and they have lots of colors and selections. Nicely located . they don't have everything like a michael's or a joann's craft store. they specialize in all types of drawing mediums which wasn't what i was looking for. although, if that's what i was interested in, i'd get supplies like those from blick. their pricing seemed pretty reasonable and their employees seemed pretty nice. it was my first time there and since they didn't even have what i was looking for, i was walking pretty aimlessly with curiosity. i saw lots of canvases, sketchbooks, all kinds of pencils, paint, and some books towards the front of the store. so, if you're looking for beads like i was, you won't find them. read more

I love this store. Almost everything artists could want is here. If you're a student, they also give you a pretty good discount. The prices can be a little high on some things, but for paints, pencils, canvases, and brushes, they're pretty competitive with their prices. They always have a friendly staff who will help you with anything you need, I will answer any questions about stuff you don't know. read more

I was happy to find this store. I was unhappy to find the staff so useless. Wanted to place a large order and purchase some studio furniture. The bored hipster girl I got stuck dealing with couldn't be bothered. Her answer to my questions were a sigh, roll of the eyes, "No". I've been going to Pearl since I was a little girl. (I've dealt with two store moves in my lifetime. That's how you know it's been awhile!) After they moved to their newest location (which I guess is not so new anymore) I just wasn't happy with the selection or the store in general. It was kind of a drag driving all the way to Jerry's in West Orange but then Blick's opened! And...Yay! I'm a fan. The store is well organized, spacious, and clean. The staff isn't the best, that's why I'm knocking off a star. Sometimes I get looks if I want to pay for something and the cashiers are chatting. But the staff on the floor is always helpful and polite, so I like them. So they aren't all bad. Overall pretty great store with a great selection. Best in the area. read more

Don't buy into their "Web Match" marketing scam. They match the online price but they add shipping as if you ordered the items online and this isn't clearly stated on the receipt (It would only show the overall discount you received.) Why should I pay for the shipping if I'm at the store? Plus, you get free shipping online if you spend over $59. I find their business dishonest. read more

After struggling with some awful colored pencils on my flight to Jersey we stopped in here to get some quality markers for my adult coloring book. This store isn't as large as Michael's but, their selection is of good quality and streamlined so, you don't have as many choices. Personally, this helps me make decisions quicker and I feel that they stores who do this only carry the best products. They had everything from gifts, paints, crafting kits, books, canvases, paint brushes, coloring books to jewelry making supplies. The line was a bit long but, it moved quickly and the lady at the register was pleasant. They also have plenty of parking in a private lot. read more

If you are into art you'll love Blick's. They have a variety of materials from student grade to professional and now that they also carry Utrect products that's a bit plus. The staff is also really helpful if you're looking for a product and cant find it in the aisles. The BEST part??? Sign up for their card and you get an automatic 10% discounts. That's all you ahve to do. You dont even have to bring thecard with you (don't we have enough cards in our wallets already???). Boy, was I excited to know that I have not one, but now TWO major art supply stores within 10 minutes of my house. I've been a Pearl customer for many, many years. It was an okay place. But now, Blick (where I've ordered online from) moved into Paramus. And I am very happy to have options to where I purchase supplies. The store is in a strip mall on Rt. 4 West. It's very clean, well stocked, and *gasp* employees who cheerfully ask if you need assistance (not used to that!). The prices were good, I think a bit cheaper than Pearl. You can also get a Blick Customer Card where I believe you get like 10% off your purchase. The only issue I had (and it's not even Blick's fault) was getting back out onto Rt. 4. On a Friday evening, it wasn't easy so try to avoid going during rush hour. Other than that, I'm a fan and will definitely be going back. read more

They have everything you can possibly want, with the exception of high quality papers (like Rives BFK). The prices are fairly typical, but if you are a student you get a 10% discount. I'm pretty sure the staff is composed of artists, so they are very helpful and generally know what you are talking about if you need something. It is in a very convenient location. This review is based on our (Me & Boyfriend) most recent visit to the store. Mind you, I adore this store. I used to shop at Michael's for art supplies but immediately switched over to Blick once I knew there was a location near my home. It was a fairly busy day since kids were going back to school the coming week. So, my beef is with the cashier. Talk about rude.. I was baffled at how rude and inconsiderate this a**hole was. Not only did he rush us, but not once did he look us in the eye. Actually, the only time he said anything to us was when he gave us the total. The rest of the time, he was shouting back and forth with his coworker. In addition to that hot mess of an employee, he handled our stuff roughly. When a person is buying delicate products like art stixs and colored pencils, they should be handled with care. If the graphite in the middle of those expensive colored pencils break, it's difficult to sharpen the pencil. Basically rendering the pencils useless. I also don't think he scanned our membership card. When I got home, I checked the receipt since I had a feeling the guy didn't scan our card due to the fact that he was so engrossed in the conversation he was having with his coworker, he may have missed scanning it. Everything on the receipt was regular price. When I checked online to see the prices since they match prices from their website with a membership card, I paid $8 more than I should have. I don't think I will go to that store anymore unless I absolutely need something. I'd rather wait some days to receive my merchandise than to deal with douchebags like him. read more

One star for being in the Jersey and one star for being blick with the standard fair prices ...and that's where happiness ends for this store ...I only venture into this store when I can't make it across the bridge to the beloved store on Bond street in NYC ...I never buy my large scale paper here cause I always get the cashier who has over done it with the foundation she shellacked on in the morning and is now on everything she touches including my just purchased 15 dollar hot pressed paper !!!! I needed some art supplies for an art class and my instructor mentioned this store. Well, the experience was just great. Everyone was very helpful, but Allie was wonderful. She helped me choose appropriate supplies and was very knowledgeable. Her suggestions were just great too. I have returned to shop there a few more times, and Julie was very helpful and shared the same enthusiasm as Allie. I am so happy to have found out about Blick Art Materials that is local to me. I went to the store last week on Wednesday and was overwhelmed with how many choices there were. I was in a paint aisle when an employee named Phillip approached me and asked if I needed help. I told him that I was looking for a Bob Ross paint set and that I am not an artist by any means but I wanted to start learning. Phillip informed me that they do not sell Bob Ross products in this store but he was great because he continued to help me by showing me other brands that are good for beginners like me, and also taught me that it is easy to make your own Bob Ross product, like liquid white, using materials in the store. He was very patient with me and helped me find everything I needed to get started. I took a long time walking up and down every aisle looking at all the interesting products. The whole store was very clean and stocked full. When I went to the register later on another employee Allie who might have been the manager asked me if I had a customer rewards card. I did not at the time, but I am so happy I signed up for one because of the huge discount I got. Allie explained to me that it is not a credit card but it was free to sign up. I was not sure what the web match meant at first but allie was very patient and kind in explaining it to me and showing me step by step how it worked. All of the employees in the store were very pleasant to talk to and knowledgeable. I was nervous to ask stupid questions because of my inexperience but I turned out to have a great experience. Morgan is a phenomenally talented custom framer! What a treasure. I had an antique silver embellished glass plate to frame and he pondered over the details of how to display this family heirloom in a safe and beautiful fashion. I had brought this same job to every other custom frame shop in Bergen County only to be offered fairly ridiculous jerry-rigged ideas. Not only did they have the right frame for the depth needed, but the custom work to properly set the plate on a velvet background was decided only after a very generous and thoughtful "brainstorming" session with me. He takes uncommon pride in his work - it shows in the final product and it shows on his face as he beamed with satisfaction at my delight in his work.
