12/09/2033- Stopped by on the way home from a picking up prescriptions af Kaiser. I was looking for Mandala yarn, which they have a good variety of colors. My only complaint is that there was only 1 employee at the registers. However. she was calm and speedy even though some customers were making comments about how long the line was. If you've never worked in a customer service job, especially retail, then you wouldn't understand how tough it can be to stay smiling, welcoming, and efficient. She did a great job read more

Had the most laughable experience in this store a few days ago while yarn shopping. JOANN is likely going bankrupt and closing very soon (they've got a few days left as a corp to find a buyer). The entire yarn department was a huge mess. An employee saw me putting yarn down on a shelf and told it "that doesn't go there!" And picked it up- I just respond, "nothing in this section is in its place," and walked away. Why care so much about something that's already a giant mess, and is likely to be gone in a few weeks anyway? Put that energy into organizing if it bothers you when things are out of place. It's no surprise that this dump is going out of business, especially because they're still doing the same nonsense that caused them to go out of business in the first place. I would mark the downfall of Joann as the moment that they disabled and removed all of their price checker machines. As a result of that, obviously there is no way to price check any items, but Joann should have compensated for that by making certain that every item in the store had a price tag on it. They don't even make sure 1 item has a price tag. Now you can't find ANY information in this store. What is the price of a product? Who knows? Are there more in stock? Good luck. When is the store closing for good? They didn't even tell the employees that. These people will be thrown out on the street with no job and they won't even tell them what month they'll be unemployed. This store is an absolute s*it hole and sadly the only craft store in Manteca. First of all, don't ever place an online pickup order. It's advertised to be ready in 2 hours but it's 3 weeks later and it's still not ready lol. Had to end up going in and buying the item. The employees could care less. They wouldn't even cancel the online order and basically said it's too bad for you we are 3 weeks behind. Second, if it says online they have something in store in stock you will get there just to not find it because the store is such an unorganized mess. And good luck finding anyone to help you. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY WITH THIS COMPANY I see that JoAnn is keeping up the tradition of being a complete shithole of an excuse for a retail store in the new year. The store is a complete mess, with flattened shipping boxes everywhere. There is no price tags on any product in the entire damn store. Of course, there are also no price scanner machines in the store, because that might actually be convenient for their customers. There are also no employees to ask. Who the hell knows how the queue line is supposed to work? Instead of just a simple straight line, you have to do some weird twisty bullshit to get to the register. They should just move the registers and the line to be a straight line to the register. Or at least have a damn sign. The music in this store is absolutely awful as well. The Manteca store has hit its all time low. They never have anything anymore, there's boxes stacked all along the back aisle, it's dirty, the "2" people working are rude, have zero time for any questions, customer service is out of the question and online orders aren't filled in a timely manner. Corporate needs a clean up crew to go in stock shelves, get inventory on track, fulfill online orders and have a job fair to hire people asap. And it's definitely not handicapped friendly. People with walkers, wheelchairs or buggies can't get down or out of an aisle without taking the whole aisle down with them. read more

There's no employees to help with anything. The seemingly only employee in the whole store is the cashier, who has to guard the register. But none of the products are labeled. There's hardly a selection of products on the shelves anyway, how difficult would it be to price tag them? The employees in this store look completely depressed. Maybe some positive encouragement from management would make them happier and more motivated. Currently, it's obvious that one of the many problems at this store is communication between employees and between employees and management. Many times I've called this store and asked for something to be put on hold or asked about a certain product only to go to the store and find that none of the employees know what I'm talking about, because the person I spoke to didn't communicate to the other employees and that person's shift has ended for the day. TL;DR- This store is severely disorganized and managed very, very poorly. Stay away from this location. read more

I haven't received a text, email or anything about my order. I've called several times, only to be given the complete run around!!!! The customer service is so horrid as of lately. I often come to this location quite a bit and the workers can be kind of stand off-ish. But the old lady with the pixie cut and glasses has become so rude and straight up spiteful!! She treats all customers like shit and if you do manage to ask her a question it's like it physically pains her to answer your question. God forbid if you have to use the bathroom too, you have to go to the same lady I talked about before to ask for the code to use it. And then she starts to interrogate you like you're some criminal. I just called the store about an online-pickup in store order. The person who answered was extremely rude and condescending. I completely understand the system is unreliable so I always have to call before they make my order which is fine with me. However, she didn't even let me finish my sentence before she told me that my order will not be finished at all today. It is 8 in the morning and the website says it is meant to be fulfilled within 2 hours. I work retail and understand the weight of having over 100 online orders needing to be fulfilled within two hours but this was just straight up rude and unnecessary. read more

I have never experienced such rude service in my life...like the girl at the register had to have been trained at the DMV because that is the only other organization in existence that requires "dour" and "disdainful" to be listed under "experience". Horrible customer service from two young girls one with "pink" hair and one with "blue" hair. My first experience was on 2/3 as I was checking out I asked for another bag she didn't even try to bag my stuff . I had so much o needed an extra bag she just ignored me and the phone and turned around! The second with blue hair I went to return a few items that I found cheaper on Amazon. Well I can tell she's already in a bad mood.. makes the return gives me the return receipt. I asked if I could get my old receipt she then throws it at me!!! I'm like wow!! I also want to add the store is messy I'm sure due to half staff. So if you want to avoid rude service and want to shop at a clean fully stocked store shop elsewhere. read more

If I could give Joann negative stars I would. I have been a customer for some time I have bought hundreds of dollars in fabric and two sewing Machines. Recently I bought a Singer HD6800c and it doesn't work! Even though their website says "hassle-free returns" 3 days after trying to get it to work I contacted them and to my shock, they will NOT return it. They want me to ship to LA to have it fixed. While I understand it's Christmas and busy there should have been more than TWO people in the entire store. One was at the cash register and one in fabric cutting. The store was a total mess. I would have given 1 star but the cashier was very nice and had a smile on her face. When I said "it looks like you need help" she smiled and said "If only"! Even if they had wanted to open another cash register, it would've been a long time because there was so much crap piled by the machines that it would've been near impossible. I wish I could rate this disaster zone of a store 0 stars. This store is a mess! If there's a single product that's actually in its correct spot, that would be surprising. What would be even more surprising is if they actually had products in stock at all! The majority of the shelves are empty. The store looks like it's on the last few days before going out of business 24/7 and with that kind of quality, I wouldn't be surprised if they FO go out of business! Who knows where the items that are supposed to go on them are! Online it says they have 5 red hart yarns, yet not a single one in store. And IF you can actually FIND an employee to ask, they don't know anything that's going on in the store. I go here multiple times a week for project materials and this place must be a neverending revolving door of employees, because I don't think I've seen the same employee twice. There are absolutely no price tags on any of the products in this store, and no employees around to ask what the heck the price of an item is. The store itself is very messy and disorganized and at any point, you can walk in and see dozens of shipment boxes stacked throughput the store that never move and the shelves stay empty and unstocked. The management at this store is clearly sitting around with their thumbs up their butt doing nothing and getting paid for it. Sounds like a sweet job. So why are they always hiring? Jeez, what ISN'T wrong with this store? As soon as you enter this sore, you're immediately met with difficulties. Good luck and godspeed to anyone who would like to use a shopping cart in this store. Joann only has 6 carts, 5 of which are broken and do not roll at all. The carts need to be serviced or thrown out. Why keep broken unusable carts in the store? There's no employees in the entire store except for the cashier, and they're pretty useless if you need assistance in another part of the store, since they can't leave the register. Don't bother asking them any questions either. The manager clearly doesn't teach/train any of her staff, because every question is met with a blank stare and "umm...let me ask" This is irritating enough, but it's not even the worst part. 99% of my need to ask questions would be instantly eliminated if the management would just put some damn prices on the products. I know they have the ability to! I have been foolishly shopping at JoAnns for years and up until this new manager (the one who always wears a mask) showed up, I regularly saw the cutting counter employees print out price tags for fabric, remnants, and whatever products were missing tags. They just scanned the item on their device and it printed out in seconds. I know for sure that getting everything in this store price tagged would not take very long at all. But the manager is too lazy to actually do work. Or just simply reinstall the price scanners. Years ago, this store had price scanners on the middle aisle poles and you could quickly and easily walk up to them and scan a product to find the price. It was quick, easy, and convenient. So obviously, JoAnn HAD to remove them. Can't have things being easy or pleasant for their customers! read more

I used to love this place, they stopped processing my orders because I didn't pick up 2 orders. The app doesn't let you cancel and they took so long with the dye I preordered the first time I went in and bought it myself which is why I never showed up. Second time was for glue I no longer needed. Lastly for vinyl they canceled my pick up the very next day when I was going to get it saying it was "out of stock" after they already picked it. Now they're not filling my current order at all. They very obviously have poor management even to the point where a cashier had said she wasn't trained on the register AT ALL and they just threw her up there expecting her to just figure it out. This store needs to reevaluate who they have in management because it's obvious with them being short staffed why no one stays long there or why no one wants to work there. read more

Every time I placed an order for T-shirts the order gets canceled. I spoke with a manager Alena and she said that they're all in boxes in the back but nobody can grab stuff from them. One time in early December they said I would have to wait approximately two hours for someone to get back and let me know if the shirts were actually in the back. This is ridiculous. I placed a pickup order 2 days ago with a promise of 2 hours until it's ready for pickup. Yesterday I called to see what was going on, someone named Katelyn answered the phone and was extremely rude. Instead of just answering my question she said "well you can come in and speak to a manager then." Fine, so I drive over to the store to talk to someone about why my 2hr pickup order isn't ready 24 hours later. I walk in the store and it looks like a freaking tornado touched down. There's boxes of product everywhere, there's products laying on the floor as if someone took it off the shelf and threw it on the floor. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE/TRIPPING HAZARD!!! Don't even bother trying to go back to the fabric area....there's bolts upon bolts of fabric laying across the aisles, some of them the fabric rolled out like a runway. It's a matter of time before someone slips on it. You can't even walk through there because they have so many items and boxes stacked there. The poor girl (she was very nice; you could tell she was burnt out) that ended up helping me had no room to cut fabric. You could see maybe half a yard worth of counter space for her to cut. She said her and the Katelyn girl I spoke to were the only ones working the WHOLE store. The registers are next to impossible to access because of how much stuff is stacked up behind them and in front of them. One of the items I bought in the pickup order was a fairly expensive Cricut machine....I honestly did not inspect the box while I was there, because the store was so terrible and crazy I just wanted to leave. When I got home, I went to wrap the box because it was a Christmas gift...and I notice the security tape that they place over the opening of the lid is cut...so I opened the box, and pulled the product out. The whole product itself is COVERED in sticky, nasty finger prints, it's scratched up and is very obviously used! The power cord falls out of the box and it's just mangled up and been thrown back in the box. There's no booklets in there such as instructions or anything. If I wanted a USED nasty product, I would've paid far less for a used nasty product....but when I'm paying full price for a very expensive product, I do not want used. I want brand new as I expected when I paid for it. Save yourself the headache (and the injury!!!!!) and just drive to Tracy or Modesto. I've never in my life seen a corporate retail store in such bad shape! I think even the Dollar Tree is more organized and put together than the Manteca JoAnn! read more

This store is a place to stay away from. First off, the store is a dump. It looks like a hoarders house and the people working there look like the hoarders you see on TV. I went to purchase some artificial olive branches for a tall vase I have. I should have just left when I saw how tore up the floral section was. I bought 3 branches and a piece of styrafoam and they charged me $52. I was surprised at the price but chalked it up to how everything now is being jacked up in price just because these companies want to gouge as much as they can. The stems didn't work with the vase so I went to return them but couldn't find my receipt so I took a picture of the debit charge on my bank statement. When they put it in the computer, my refund was only going to be $30. I told them they just need to figure out the price they changed me on 5/1 plus the cost of the styrafoam and they'd come up with the price I paid and to think it was ok to keep $20 of my money because I didn't have the receipt was theft. They refused and said I had to show the items. We went round and round and about it until I finally grabbed the stems and left. The people there are gross, the place is dirty and I will never go there for anything again. Luckily, I went to my car and looked everywhere for the receipt and found it. I took it back to get the full refund and the woman didn't even realize it was me who had just left after arguing with her and the manager.That's the mentality of their staff. If you buy anything from this store, you better make sure you to put the receipt in a safe place because they change pricing on their stock by jacking up the price then acting like they're marking it down. I found the exact same vines on Amazon for $20. This is why retail stores are going by the wayside. read more

I've placed three online orders, and they were all canceled. I called to find out the 411, and they said the fabric is out of stock because people steal things, yet there were over 6 yards of fabric per style when I placed my order. I didn't know people could walk out with giant bolts of fabric? This is the ONLY location that cancels my orders. The Modesto, Turlock, and Merced locations are nothing like this one. This place is way too small. The inventory is not appealing whatsoever. Hardly not enough signage for what you want on the aisles. You'll walk pass on the items you want. Waited in line for about 40 minutes before the store closed and no one else was let in for the day. I was not upset that I did not get in to the store. I was more upset that the lady with the purple hair, heavier set, and has gauges on her ears, was very very very rude to everyone waiting in line. At first, this employee was at the door opening/closing as people would enter/exit. A customer as asking her a question when the employee rudely cut her off by closing the door in her face. On top of that, at 4:00 pm when the store closed, she came outside and yelled to everyone in line, "We're closed, go home, bye." very rudely, while waiving her arms up and walking inside. It is a very scary and frustrating time with everything that is going on in the world and yes there are people that can be a little on edge. With that being said, the real characteristics of people present themselves. Due to this experience I will not be returning to this store. I have been a frequent customer for quite some time, so it is upsetting that I will not be visiting due to this. Management, I hope you do the right thing and retrain employees on customer service and showing sympathy to those who cannot enter the store during these challenging times. I am not asking you to fire this employee but to simply coach them and mentor them when it comes to customer service, otherwise I won't be the only customer leaving with a sour taste in their mouth. read more

I don't live in Manteca, but I was out there for my girlfriend's niece's graduation party. There is no Jo-Ann Fabrics & Crafts in Alameda and I don't believe they have one in San Leandro. Thus, my girlfriend's sister (Linda) brought me to this store so I can search for materials to have three tabletop centerpieces assembled by her. We found part of the materials - two spools of purple tulle and 1/2 yard of expandable band material in canary yellow. The gold tulle looked okay, but it wasn't really what I wanted. I'm really impressed with this store and their merchandise. It has an abundance of all sorts of material, fabrics, craft items, some party items, beads, etc. Amazingly, they even have movie boxes of candy - of all places - in a craft store, which is unbelievable. The employees are very helpful and friendly, even the customers, too. People are pretty much laid back and nobody seems to be in a hurry. I guess that's the difference between shopping in an urban area and rural area. For us women, it is a fun place to visit, browse and shop. Love the coupons that I get on my app. I was able to save 40% on 3 big rolls of yarn. They have a good selection of fabrics, and some unique seasonal items for the home. There are a couple staff that seen to always be there that are cry friendly and helpful. Take your number for fabric cutting as soon as you get there, as often it backs up. read more
