I frickin love this place! Always good. I live too far away to go regularly, but when I'm in town, I make sure to stop here for a bite.

Great food super quick service ! First text here on Friday for a late dinner. I got the beef pad Thai with mushrooms added spicy hot and sweet and sour chicken a order of crab ragoon and egg rolls came to $22.50. if I would have went to some other places local it would have been double that. I literally just threw up in a trash can at work thanks to this place. My sister and I grabbed dinner from this place last night. I enjoyed the noodle soup I ordered, and the portions were huge, so today I was looking forward to eating the leftovers for lunch. Well, after I got about halfway through my lunch, a tiny little WORM floated up to the top of the soup. Actually, I'm not sure if it was a worm or some kind of larvae, but either way, I still feel completely nauseous. Photo has been posted. What is even more sickening is I consumed about 75% of the soup before I discovered the "invertebrate". I feel completely violated, disgusted with this place and disgusted in myself for eating their food!!!! read more

Being from out of town and having a crave for something I'm very familiar our search led us here. The price being right along with the mom & pop setting sealed the deal as we pulled up to the storefront. When we walked in and saw the photos of the dishes, the kitchen and heard the accent we knew we made the right choice.....yeah right. Long story short this had to be the worse Thai we had!!! We made our orders -- Pad Bi Ka Pow Beef, Mama Soup, Hong Su Gai (Chinese), 2 Chicken Fried Rice and Pad Prik Khing. When my dish, Kra Pow was put in front of me I knew everything I assumed was out the window. As the wife puts it it must be Sandusky Thai because the dishes we had were far from authentic in taste and composition. The Thai Tea was good though. We can say this because we lived in Queens NY for most of our lives and been to many places in Woodside and others. Mind this is long before Yelp, but the point is we have a good handle on good Thai. Let's be realistic too, I knew I wasn't going to get that sort of quality here in Sandusky where hardly any Thai people are, but still. I wasn't expecting this especially with all the positive reviews. Well I'm not sure what all the good reviews are about but one thing is certain is that my fellow Yelpers have never had 'real' Thai. This place was a disappointment. I hate it when reviewers leave a high rating for a joint because of how cheap the food at a restaurant is. How they got past 2 stars ...all the way to 4 is baffling. If you want good tasting authentic Thai stay away from this place as the only thing authentic is their accents. If you just want something other than the norm, i.e., burgers, pizza, subs..etc, then this place will get the job done. THIS PLACE DOES NOT DESERVE 4 STARS!! read more

This is a very nice mom and pop styled restaurant, the customer service is average. I would think that if you want more costomers at least seem more interested in what they want but sincerely this is a mom and pops restaurant,so it's excusable. So Tasty! The place could use an update but I think they focus more on food quality and it shows so I don't mind too much. Besides, now that we have sweetest day too, the valentines decorations they leave up are good twice a year! All kidding aside, while it's not the most visually attractive, Jo Wok is clean and puts out really good food every time. There's a dish for almost everyone and they can really put it down on a yellow curry. I also recommend trying a noodle bowl at some point. Not exactly pho, but it's close. There's also a drive-thru where you can place an order or pick up one that you called in. I usually eat in but it's nice when I'm just grabbing something on the way home from work. Go. Go often. I was so scared to go to this restaurant- the outside looks pretty sketch. The inside looks pretty sketch, but THE FOOD IS SOOOOO GOOD. You can tell they know what they're doing. I got the fried rice and it was AWESOME. The restaurant is not very intuitive as to how to order or get food or drinks and such, but I'm sure once you figure that out you're in the clear. Sadly Sandusky is a long way from Thailand because this food was not very good. I wanted to like it but every Detroit Thai restaurant has better dishes. I tried the Pad Ped Pladuk which according to the menu description should have eggplant, lime leaves and krachai (finger root). Instead it had peas, baby corn and carrot niblets which were obviously frozen or canned. The catfish was plentiful and good at least, and the spice level was fine. Of course ask for at least one spice level above what you want since it won't be enough! We upgraded to a combo for $1 more. The spring roll was fine but the fried rice was mushy and wasn't even really fried. You order and pay at the counter and they bring the food to your table. I tipped 10% assuming they would check on us or refill our waters at some point. Nope, I had to wait in line at the counter for refills. Lastly I need to point out all the condiments are on a little table off to the side. A sticky nasty table! There is one salt shaker and a giant can of pepper. It was stuck to the table. We also noticed a strange smell when we walked in. Listen, I don't mind eating in a dump, but the food better be amazing! I usually give a bonus star for vegetarian options like tofu. But Thai always offers tofu as a protein choice and should have fresh veggies. I can't honestly give more than one sad star. read more

I have been going to eat here for years!! Food is very good! I have had mostly all good dishes only a few I would say I didn't like (could be just my taste) My favorite dish is the Pad Prick Khing a very good curry they have. I like spicy and they can bring it on if you want it!! Tho I have noticed it depends on who is cooking on what the heat level going to come out to be, I like to order my food Medium spicy sometimes it comes out lacking a little heat other times I have had it come out a little over on the heat but always fair in taste and flavor. Nothing fancy about the place but very nice people run the place and always greeted polite when I come in. The place it self is on the small side and if you didn't know how good the food was can be a little off putting from the rough looking strip mall its on to the small inside but very much worth a try!! read more

This place was great when I went for dinner with my boyfriend last night. It was a cute little place, with very beautiful paintings on the wall (several of which were for sale). To order we went to the counter where they had several copies of the menu. The woman behind the counter was very nice and patient while we decided what to order. We ordered our food to eat there and didn't have to wait long for it to come out of the kitchen. The food was served steaming hot and was delicious. I had the Pad See Ew with chicken and medium spice. It was very good with the noodles cooked perfectly and the broccoli still had a crispness to it. The sauce was very good and had a great flavor to it. My boyfriend had the Lo Mein with duck and medium spice and he was very happy with it. He said it tasted very good and that everything in it was cooked great. If I'm ever in the area again I will definitely be going back. read more

NOW CALLED JO WOK Well, this was my first adventure in Thai food. I have to say I was extremely satisfied and the employees were more than accomdating. The dish I had was quite enjoyable with a great mix of veggies and meat, and a great balance of flavor and heat. I got the Pad Talay for my dish (without squid). It was a mix of shrimp (the only downfall is they did not remove the tails), scallops, and mussels with peas, peppers, onions, and bean sprouts. NOT authentic Thai. However it is VERY VERY good. Typical Americanized wok whip-up. But a vast selection and some good sauces makes this my #1 oriental choice in Sandusky. The food is made with care and the place is clean. Go and enjoy! read more

Workers are friendly and the Cashew Chicken and Chicken Fried Rice are very yummy! Egg Drop soup has Tofu in it but is still good.

Jo Wok (formerly OK Wok) is a great place to eat. It has evolved over the years and I believe has changed ownership once. They have a small outdoor eating area as well as inside. The tables and chairs are dated but the food is great, the staff friendly and the decorations beautiful if eclectic. I've had the fried rices and lo meins and I love them. They also have a big variety of Chinese, Thai and other asian standards. The food is cooked quickly and wait times are minimal. The owner seems to know everyone by name and is very friendly. The many paintings and sketches that litter the walls are by one of his daughters. Prices are very reasonable and the portions are large enough that you'll always take food home with you. read more

I read a few reviews on Yelp and decided to try them out ... Boy am I glad I did ! Have been there twice in a week .. The food is Awesome! .. I have tried 8 separate dishes and all have been outstanding ... The Chicken Satay is fantastic ! .. And all of the dishes that have vegetables have REALLY Fresh vegetables. .. And their spices really make the flavors pop.. Also the meats are very fresh .. Have tried the Beef , Pork and Chicken And have been very pleased with the quality The portions are also very generous for the price .. Great value for great food .. We have taken both trips as takeout because the restaurant ambiance just isn't there ..it's a small strip mall type shop .. BUT don't let that stop you from eating the food ! ... The food was great, but our whole experience was spoilt by their customer service, we came 40 minutes before they closed but they said that they were closing and hassled us, they never offered us any water or a drink and served us with plastic cutlery and plates. The staff is always polite unless it's the dopey American guy(little scrawny hamster dude)who is too stoned to hear or be polite but can be a creep to the ladies when they come in alone. I love this place. I've become a regular here, and it's worth driving to get there. Let me begin by saying that this place is very small, maybe holding about 20 people max. There are tables for 2 and 4, and that's it. The atmosphere in this place is awesome, and there are lots of paintings, drawings, and sketches covering the walls. Many pieces are very beautiful, which I appreciate, being an aspiring artist myself. The place isn't very fancy, you walk up to the front, place your order, and choose your prefered seating. There's a little table that has a few different sauces, as well as chop sticks and some extra napkins that you may help yourself to as needed. It doesn't take very long to get your order, which I also appreciate, as I'm very impatient, especially when I'm hungry. The food here is spectacular, made nicely, everything you'd expect from authentic Chinese and Thai cooking. I fell in love the first time I came, and every time I go up to Sandusky I hope to go there. Since it's the only Thai restruant (at least that I know of) in the area it is a must for fans of Thai food in the area. I recommend it to almost anyone. Oh, also, my favorite meal there is Yellow Curry with duck or squid, with a Thai iced tea, if you want my opinion. read more

Small takeout place. With tax, $7 for General Tso chicken, very affordable. The chicken was subpar, definitely had better. There was no spice to it, didn't taste like your typical general tso. I ordered takeout and they put white rice in a box and put chicken on top, mixing everything together. I would've liked my rice and chicken separated. They have a decent menu of both chinese and thai food. Maybe trying something else would persuade me to give more stars. read more
