Chicken with cashew nuts combo plate
    Liz P.

We were in the area today after going to the African safari drive-through so we wanted something quick for lunch before going back to the Detroit area. I saw on Yelp that this place had cheap hibachi, so we decided to stop here. It's definitely more of a takeout Chinese restaurant but they do have booths if you want to eat there. There are no hibachi tables so I'm assuming they just cook it in the back? Very confusing. I had chicken with cashew nuts and my boyfriend had orange chicken. We both got the combo plates and it was about $18 for two which isn't bad, although I think later I realized we could have got the lunch combos instead. The combos come with egg rolls, but they had shrimp in them so I skipped mine, and pork fried rice. Everything was tasty and very fresh although we were the only people there so that's probably why. :) Not a bad place to go for Chinese food overall.

Disappointing, undercooked rice, rubbery beef. Smelled great just didn't live up to the promise.

The steamed dumplings are great, and the the Lo Mein is the best around.

Anyways, Ming's Moo Goo Gai Pan is a delicious healthy dish with subtle Cantonese flavors. There's a generous amount of white chicken meat and lots of fresh, crisp veggies like Napa cabbage, snow peas, water chestnuts, and button mushrooms. The white sauce needed a little salt, which made it shine. The fried rice was basically steamed rice with soy sauce, so nothing special there. The Hot and Sour Soup was thin and not very tangy but had a fair amount of heat to it. My take? It was a solid meal that filled me up for cheap ($11.50), and I had leftovers, too.

Was looking for some good food outside of the resort, but this was not it. They are doing takeout only. Here's what we ordered: -Sesame Chicken: I've never seen this dish drowned in broth/syrup before. It was so soupy that the chicken and breading was soggy. And the chicken was flavorless. -Kung Pao Shrimp: again, drowned in this brown broth. Very soupy and tasteless. -Green Pepper Steak: and again, loads of broth and no flavor. -Mixed Vegetables: no flavor in the sauce that was added to these. -Steamed dumplings: the dumplings by themselves were flavorless, but the sauce that came with them was its saving grace. -Spring Rolls: 2 come in an order. They were so tiny! (Think 1 bite and you're done.) And not crispy at all. If you see this place while driving down the road, just keep going. Never again!

Don't expect the world's best anything - you are picking up freshly-cooked food defensively - anything you get here will be better than the gas station taquitos or the Arby's roast beef sandwich binge you will regret in 30 minutes. But to be clear, it's not going to be particularly great. Something about the time of day that I pass by through this area gets me so excited to toss in a pickup order just to see what I get. The Singapore-style Mei Fun is reliable. Get it plain without the Singapore curry spice if you're more suspicious. lol. Anything like String Beans with Garlic, or Beef with Broccoli, is going to be perfectly acceptable for a road warrior like you. The location, consistency, and ease of triangulation with regards to ordering over the phone (or having your shotgun passenger order) about 10 minutes before you reach this Hwy exit merits a solid 4-star review. The food is 3-star ish, but the mere existence of this place warrants a bonus "Oasis" star.
