You don't find many places that still offer that old school Cantonese specialty, Moo Goo Gai Pan. So, when I saw that Ming's Garden had it, I just had to get a take-away order since they don't do dine in anymore. Anyways, Ming's Moo Goo Gai Pan is a delicious healthy dish with subtle Cantonese flavors. There's a generous amount of white chicken meat and lots of fresh, crisp veggies like Napa cabbage, snow peas, water chestnuts, and button mushrooms. The white sauce needed a little salt, which made it shine. The fried rice was basically steamed rice with soy sauce, so nothing special there. The Hot and Sour Soup was thin and not very tangy but had a fair amount of heat to it. My take? It was a solid meal that filled me up for cheap ($11.50), and I had leftovers, too. read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. This food was absolutely disgusting. We paid over $50 for multiple meals and ended up throwing it all away. Was looking for some good food outside of the resort, but this was not it. They are doing takeout only. Here's what we ordered: -Sesame Chicken: I've never seen this dish drowned in broth/syrup before. It was so soupy that the chicken and breading was soggy. And the chicken was flavorless. -Kung Pao Shrimp: again, drowned in this brown broth. Very soupy and tasteless. -Green Pepper Steak: and again, loads of broth and no flavor. -Mixed Vegetables: no flavor in the sauce that was added to these. -Steamed dumplings: the dumplings by themselves were flavorless, but the sauce that came with them was its saving grace. -Spring Rolls: 2 come in an order. They were so tiny! (Think 1 bite and you're done.) And not crispy at all. If you see this place while driving down the road, just keep going. Never again! read more

I just ordered Chicken with Cashews, Fried Rice and Steamed Dumplings. Everting was terrible. First dish only the chicken was cooked; green peppers, and celery were completely raw--I don't mean crunch, I really mean RAW. Dumplings had almost no taste. Fried rice was not cooked enough. Yelp brought my friend and I here on our way to Cedar Point. We wanted to eat lunch before getting into the park, so this is what we chose. We were greeted instantly and brought to our table. Lunch specials and everything else on the menu is cheaper than we are used to spending back on Long Island. I went with the chicken and broccoli lunch special with an egg roll and fried rice. While the chicken and broccoli was yummy, the fried rice fell flat. It didn't taste like typical fried rice, but more like white rice doused in soy sauce. Very salty too. The egg roll was more like a spring roll, but full of flavor. My friend got the garlic chicken lunch special. He ate it all up, so my guess is is that he enjoyed it. It's a cute little Chinese restaurant, and service was great. I'm sure it's popular with the locals. Definitely a great spot on your way to Cedar Point. read more

Ever since my favorite family restaurant closed, I have not been able to find a won ton soup that I liked. Finally! This was the best. Broth was broth and not oil! The won ton was delicious. Surprisingly good authentic Chinese food from what looks to be needing some remodeling exterior. Was very pleasantly surprised- very reasonable pricing as well. This is the worst meal I have ever eaten. If you're expecting a nice Chinese meal you are going to be disappointed. There were multiple hairs in my dry lo mein. The orang "chicken" tasted more like meatballs and was so hard I could barely bite into it. It was also pink inside... im pretty sure that means it's not cooked. I paid $20 for it and they wouldn't give a refund even after all of that. I don't recommend taking the risk. The food quality is bottom tier and once you pay there's no going back. read more

I can't even give this food a single star, but obviously I have to. My son and I have been up all night sick as can be from the carry out we picked up last night. My bf does not eat any kind of Chinese food, so he ate from Wendy's last night. We wish we had! The wonton soup tasted like a noodle in hot water, so we threw it out quickly. The pork fried rice and pork fried egg roll was very bland and simply lacked anything remarkable. The General Tsos chicken was strange and gristly- understanding this recipe calls for dark meat chicken, but had more breading (tasteless,soggy) than chicken. As others have stated- Ming's Garden is the best Chinese food in Sandusky. For some reason there is never a crowd in the restaurant (I guess it does look sketch from the outside). The help is awesome and always remember you! The dinner special is the way to go. You get soup, egg roll and crab rangoon, and two entrées to share with rice for 11 bucks a person. The egg drop soup has so many ingredients in it that I never knew could be included in the soup. IT IS AWESOME. The rest of the food is made differently than any other Chinese food I've had. The chicken is actually CRISPY in the general tso's! CRISPY! Not soggy, but CRISPY! It leads me to believe that everything is made super super fresh. The food is so good. We eat here frequently. This was one of a handful of restaurants open in Sandusky on Christmas, and we really didn't want to go to Denny's! The wait was long and the staff was disorganized, however they were dealing with a ton of takeout orders. There are only 10 or so tables inside the restaurant which looks a bit dingy honestly, so we didn't have many expectations. Once we got the food we were blown away. The Egg Drop soup was fantastic, well seasoned and tasty without being a gelatinous mess. The Egg Roll had just come from the deep fryer and just tasted good. We tried three main courses and loved all three of them. We each had equal portions of Sweet and Sour Pork, Sweet and Sour Shrimp, and Szechuan Chicken. You could taste the use of quality ingredients in all of them. It was a truly delicious Christmas dinner. One of the best parts was how affordable the meal was. We spent just over $10 per person. We will definitely come back the next time we come to Cedar Point. read more

This place is not even worth giving one star. There wasn't an option of giving 0 star, so lucky them - they get one more than they actually deserve. The food was such a disappointment, and so was the restaurant's service. The waiter had no freaking idea what she was doing, giving my party no plates and no chopsticks until we had to ask her for some. Not to mention, the ambience of the place was unpleasant with the restaurant's awful stench and the attitude the employees were giving their customers. Food - not even worth mentioning about, since the cook messed up one of my party member's order and the "fried rice" my other member had was literal shit. The rice itself was dry, crumbly, and had no elements to call it rice except for the fact that it looked like one. All I can say is, this restaurant should be thankful that the Asian population in Sandusky isn't so big. If it was, there would be more Chinese restaurants opening, and when there are more Chinese restaurants, this one would probably close down in a heart beat. read more

All of these dishes were good and the mustard has a real kick, which was nice. The service was great and really friendly. We went here about two weeks ago. My wife and I ordered egg rolls along with our entrees . I had the pork fried rice and my wife had the egg foo young. The egg rolls were simply cabbage inside a wrapper and fried. No flavor nothing else in there. Thought my egg roll could of been an anomaly but my wife's was the same. My fried rice was bland, no flavor at all. The egg foo young was runny, as in not holding together with lots of extra liquid around it. She took one bite and had enough. We are fairly new to Sandusky and have been on the hunt for a solid Chinese restaurant in the area. I was directed to Ming's Garden and we ordered takeout from the restaurant. They had our order ready quickly and the price was fair. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the sesame chicken, which is typically a favorite of mine. I am used to sesame chicken coming in a glad ware-style container or aluminum container with a lid. This, however, came in a traditional white takeout box which was very soggy and greasy at the bottom. Also, the sesame chicken was basically just sweet & sour chicken with a sesame sauce on it, almost like what one would get from a frozen food section. It was not traditional sesame chicken that I have had from several Chinese restaurants. The portion was also very small, almost half of what is normally given at other restaurants. Aside from that, the sweet & sour chicken was tasty and the rice and Crab Rangoon were good. We will be trying this restaurant again - I will just order something different. read more

Although I have never sat down and eaten, I've gotten take out many times! I always get Orange Chicken with no vegetables, white rice, and either dumplings or an eggroll. Their orange chicken is wonderful! They give you the perfect amount of sauce to just eat it plain, or to pour it on your rice! Also, there's always enough to have leftovers for tomorrow! The steamed dumplings are very good, however, they are a little more on the expensive side, but I understand since they taste homemade! Their eggrolls are yummy too! This place opened when I was a teenager and became a favorite of my mom and dad. At that time I think it was the only Chinese restaurant for 30 or 40 miles. It was our default place to go out about once a month on a Friday. I usually ordered the sweet and sour chicken, which shows you how adventurous my Chinese food tastes were back in the day. We ordered over the phone and the woman on the line was very polite and made sure to repeat the order back to me for accuracy. (It was a large order for 6) They also asked if we needed dinnerware and provided it too. The food was delivered within 25 minutes and was delicious. The driver was very polite also. I am a foodie, and a chef. My family and I found this place a few months ago, while on a Cedar Point trip. Holy moley, you gotta try this place. We have been there about four times now. It is about two hours from our home, and it is worth the drive. The wonton soup broth is just incredible. We have loved everything we have tried, including the garlic chicken, kung bao chicken, mu shu pork, and more. Last night I had the sizzling chicken. Good Lord, what flavor.
