Was pleased with the…read moreexperience, which simply involved taking measurements and asking what changes I might want with the setup--much better than the high-pressure sales pitch from the bigger companies in the area. We pushed off the replacement thinking our unit would survive one more winter, but of course of furnace went out unexpectedly in the middle of the night during one of the coldest stints of the season. Called Residential Express the following morning, they pulled up my quote from 4 months prior, verified the price hadn't changed and were able to schedule me for a full HVAC replacement the next day. Freddie and Flavian arrived on time and were very professional moving through our house and working in our backyard and utility closet. They explained any changes they needed to make, went over the new setup and recommended service intervals, and hauled all of the old equipment away, leaving our house looking better than when they arrived. Very happy with our experience with Residential Express and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

Literally wearing a sweater and two sweater wraps. New HVAC filter, reset breaker. Thermostat batteries are fine. Still not kicking on. Sent Yelp message to RES because they have always been quick to respond. And they did this time as well and the woman who gave me a call was nice and tried to help. Pretty disappointed that they can't quickly swing by today. From what I've read, it's likely a dirty flame sensor or the ignitor switch (neither of which is a long job - I just don't have the tools). HVAC less than 5 years old, so parts are under warranty with RES; however, I had to call someone else. Bottom line: Someone else is coming today, but I could end up paying for parts. Kind of feels like my current needs weren't lucrative enough for RES to make a concerted effort to swing by.

I chose Meade's based on their strong reviews for installing a new attic HVAC unit, and the…read moreinstallation itself was smooth and professional. However, the system was not set up correctly from the start. It relied heavily on auxiliary heat during heating and failed to cool properly when tested at the start of summer. When I reached out to Meade's, their technician confirmed that the outdoor unit wasn't operating correctly and that the refrigerant was significantly out of specification. As a result, the system effectively ran in an incorrect configuration for nearly three months during peak winter, leading to significantly higher electricity bills (about 3x normal). Once corrected, the system behavior changed immediately. This was also clearly evidenced through Nest thermostat history, which showed auxiliary heat being used on nearly every heating cycle during that period. I understand that energy usage was higher for many homeowners during the colder months, but in this case the system behavior changed noticeably after the issue was fixed, which points to a setup issue rather than just weather. These were installation-related issues that should have been caught during initial setup. While Meade's was responsive in sending a technician after i reached out to them to get the system checked, there was no acknowledgment of the impact beyond that. Despite the elevated energy costs, no credits or accommodation were offered. Overall, good responsiveness, but disappointing quality control and follow-through after installation.

So, I first want to start off by saying that every single technician/expert that has provided…read moreservice to us has been FANTASTIC! Fullstop. This review is based on recent experiences with customer service representatives/admin folks. So it was during calls to the main number, and we reside in Virginia. We recently had a very expensive repair for a hot water heater that severely damaged our circuit breaker box. So the techs came out, did their thing and were phenomenal. However, in order for us to submit the repairs for reimbursement with our home warranty company, we require an itemized invoice. As per the egregiously rude phone reps we have encountered, there is a company policy against itemized invoices. Like, WHAT!?! I have never experienced anything like it in the history of working with service providers. There is always an itemized invoice. However, that in itself is not the issue. First, my spouse spoke to someone who said that it is only possible to obtain by escalating to a manager. So we waited and attempted to follow-up. Each time after we both tried to follow-up, we encountered some of the rudest, most unprofessional individuals on the line. Not to mention, AGAIN, how does it make sense that you are doing work of this magnitude and cannot produce an invoice that breaks down parts and labor!?! I am certain that this isn't the first time in history that the company encountered this kind of request when customers are dealing with insurances and warranty companies. It is wholly disappointing, when you consider that the individuals in the field doing the labor intensive work can be overshadowed by the policies of the company. I literally have no idea what to say at this point, but that we will be transitioning to Michael & Son's or another provider. Because who wants to pay this kind of money to be mistreated on the backend for something as simple as an itemized invoice. Such a shame!

The gentlemen promised to be back that Monday. He was nice. Monday I received no call, no information, nothing. They never came that Monday. I called them. They didn't give me any information. They just said they will call me back when they can schedule a time to come. Fast-forward to Thursday the 10th. I called him back still no information. They said we will call you back when we can schedule a time to comes Fast-forward to Monday the 14th. I called them back same thing. At this point I called American Home Shield to complain and they were able to get more information out of them than I was. They let American home shield know that they were still waiting on the part and American Home Shield informed me that they never submitted authorization to them. To ensure that the service will be paid for through them. So through American home shields help they finally submitted the authorization on the 23rd. Then they called me finally on the 28th to let me know that Friday, August 1 they be coming to finally do the work. I called that Thursday the 31st to confirm they, said yes we will be there. That Friday I called an hour before they were supposed to arrive and they let me know that they were still coming. Then they called me back at 1 PM and told me oh they weren't coming because they didn't get the part. They will come on Monday. Well today's Monday and they said they'd be here between 9 and 12. I don't think they're coming today. So I say all of that to say this is horrible customer service and I think because of the demographic I live in they are treating me this way. If I lived in Georgetown, if I lived in Bethesda, if I lived in a white neighborhood, if I was white and I didn't live in Southeast DC, they would treat me with more respect. And even if I was white and probably lived in Southeast DC, they would probably treat me with more respect and they're not even white. These are not white individuals. These are people of color so I say all of that to say that the problem is we still have a problem in America where people of color still treat other people of color, especially Black people like nothing even when they're providing a service to them that can affect their business. They still treat you poorly. I don't know if they thought I wouldn't write a review but not all Black people tolerate poor customer service and being treated like a second class citizen for a service I am paying for. I do not recommend them. I HIGHLY do not recommend them.

The home warranty company sent someone out who did a subpar repair that kept it limping along. Then during the last visit of a scheduled maintenance contract, our previous HVAC company gave us a doom-and-gloom assessment of the furnace. At 35 years old, that wasn't a surprise, but we got a hard sell that made it sound like we were endangering our lives (we weren't). We had them quote for the replacement, but the pushy sales tactics and fear mongering didn't sit right with me, also not the first time they'd done that, and I reached out to AirMasters for a quote as well. What a difference! Michele is friendly and helpful on the phone, and Pete came out to do the quote. He was extremely thorough and talked us through the various options available to us, such as variable and single speed compressors. Price wise they were also the most competitive offer for the same Trane system. No high pressure tactics or fear mongering (and no incessant phone calls to re-up for maintenance contracts). Pete and Mike did the install. They did an excellent job, and the system innards and ducting and all that look great. Michele is great to deal with on the phone, and handled the registration paperwork. Since then, we have our maintenance plan in place, and twice a year either Pete or Mike comes by to check out our system. We would highly recommend AirMasters, and are looking to use them to replace our water heater when the time comes, and any future HVAC needs.
