Bettius HVAC has been absolutely amazing for us the past few years, from their excellent install of a new HVAC during the pandemic to their continued support of said system since then. This past week we had a part failure on our heat pump, and Mike personally walked us through various troubleshooting procedures over the phone before coming by to examine the unit in person. He ended up ordering a replacement part, coming back the next day and spending over an hour installing it and ensuring it was working properly. And for all this work, four years after installation? No charge at all. Mike has been in the business for years, and genuinely sees his customers as valuable, long-term relationships. It's borderline incredible that in an era where seemingly everyone in the universe is out to nickel and dime you for every little thing, people like Mike are still putting in the work. Could not recommend them more. read more

He did an okay install replacing my furnace, could have been much better in my opinion. He does things his way and barely listens to the customer. read more

If you need an HVAC expert you can trust, call Mike. He has years of experience and it shows in every part of his work. He's incredibly knowledgeable, thorough, and truly knows what he's doing. His prices are exceptionally reasonable--far better than anyone else I've worked with--and he never tries to upsell or complicate things. What really sets Mike apart is his dedication. He doesn't charge extra for nights or weekends, and he even came out on New Year's Eve to diagnose my furnace issue and returned on New Year's Day to install the part and get everything working again. Who does that anymore? Mike is honest, direct, and a total straight shooter. He tells you what's wrong, explains what needs to be done, and then gets it done right. The quality of his work is phenomenal, and I trust him completely. If you're looking for an HVAC pro you won't be disappointed with--Mike is the one to call. Highly recommend! read more

Got an initial quote from Reddick and sons for a ridiculous amount and of course we needed a 2nd opinion. He came to look at our HVAC after hours and quickly fixed it within the same HOLIDAY weekend (on actual Labor Day) for us (under half the price). We are grateful for his quick response and experienced service. We will be calling him in the future. read more

I have received outstanding service from Bettius HVAC. Not only was the original cost very reasonable, but the follow-up service was also outstanding. When I called Mike Bettius to check the system, he responded quickly on the same day. I highly recommend him. read more

Mike and his assistant were great. He is no nonsense, honest and really knows his stuff. They came to our house at about 11pm with our upstairs AC out and the temp in our bedrooms approaching the 90s and fixed the AC in no time. We were actually able to sleep in our beds a few hours after they left thanks to Mike's efforts! read more

Bettius Mechanical is my go-to HVAC repairman. He's a small company, honest and takes personal pride in his workmanship. I've referred him to a few friends who are equally pleased with his service and reasonable price quote. read more

I've known Mike for about 40 years, since he was a young man and I was a kid. He's done HVAC work for my parents and for me. Mike has spent a lifetime committed to his craft. He knows more than most HVAC techs and plumbers ever will, and for several years he was a teacher as well as a business owner. He's a good person too. I recently had a furnace problem. Mike showed up the same day and handled the issue perfectly. The bill was highly reasonable. You know that magic triumvirate of fast/good/inexpensive - the one everybody says is impossible? With Mike it's not just possible but expected. If you want somebody you can trust, Mike is the person to call. read more

My furnace broke late night around 8 pm. I thought I would have to pay a lot for this late night checkup. He showed up within an hour after I called, and did not charge me anything. How nice of him!!! As a female and a first time homebuyer, I know nothing about the furnace. He had all the patience in the world to answer several questions during late night checkup, and he explained it so plain and well enough that I can understand. He kept me updated when the part was available and when he could come for installation. He charged me at a very reasonable price, and he made the the whole process simple and easy. He is a very nice and straightforward guy. I don't know who would give me a better service at this reasonable price. I am VERY happy with his service. read more

Mike Bettius was hired by my condo association to do some inspections and I was in need of a replacement for my 30 year old HVAC system. Mike gave me the best quote and decided to go with them for this project and I have no regrets. Their team was friendly and professional. Got the job done quickly and I couldn't be happier. Now, one thing you have o understand about Mike is he's old school. A handshake type of guy and he lived up to his word and verbal quote with a handshake. I would recommend them for you HVAC needs. read more

Bettius Mechanical did a great job on my recent HVAC install! Professional and knowledgeable, the work was done quickly and at a great price. Full points to Mike and his team! read more

I've utilized Mike and his services for over a decade. You can always trust that he is going to be honest with you and give you a fair price. I can't count the number of late night last minute visits in the middle of the sweltering summer or dead of winter Mike has made to either my home or business to save the day. It never ceases to amaze me how quickly he is able to identify the problem and rectify it. I would highly recommend Mike to anyone that needs service or a new system. read more

our Air Conditioner capacitor went out and he came out and repaired it. He did a great job.

The only other time I wrote a review was several years ago for Bettius Mechanical, and I am inspired to write another review, again for Mike Bettius. His service, knowledge, helpfulness and honesty are extraordinary, especially compared to others I dealt with before finding Mike, who was recommended by coworkers. He really is the best for all home heater and air conditioner problems. and he has saved me a lot of time and money over the years. - Marty McDonnell read more

We called Mike about an issue we had with our heat pump not turning on. He arrived arrived 45 minutes later and had the heat back up and running in less than an hour. We couldn't be happier with the job he did. He is extremely polite, works quickly and makes sure to get the job done as fast as possible. We will definitely recommend in the future!! read more

Bettina Mechanical is my first and only choice for HVAC problems. Mike accurately diagnosed and repaired an air conditioner problem after an another company told me it had to be replaced. Recently, I called because my 11 year old water heater was leaking. He noticed it had a 12 year warrantee, called the manufacturer and obtained a comparable model for free; so I only paid for labor. Bettius arrives on time, the fees are very reasonable and service is quick. I am a very satisfied customer. read more

Owner Michael Bettius is the most honest contractor I've ever seen. He is not a salesman and won't try to sell you anything you don't need. When you call, Michael is the one who answers the phone and comes out to do the work, which is rare these days. Pricing is great because you are not paying all the overhead for a bunch of staff and advertising. Quality work! read more

HVAC system started making strange noises. Called Mike in the morning. He arrived that same day. Fixed the problem. Explained how to prevent it going forward. Cost for the service was very reasonable. I would recommend him. read more

Mike is an honest, no nonsense guy! Our A/C unit in our home was having issues. We called our Home Warranty Service company who sent NS Heating and Cooling from Woodbridge to troubleshoot and make necessary repairs. A representative from NS Heating and Cooling, Omar, called after inspecting and stated there was a leak and a failed Thermal Expansion Valve that needed to be replaced. The warranty company refused to cover the expenses. When I contacted Omar, he gave me wildly different quotes to conduct the repair. Starting with almost $1,300 down to $800. He stated the part was almost $300 and $200 of refrigerant would be needed. He also would not provide a written estimate via email as I requested over the phone. I contacted Mike at Bettius, who stated the Thermal Expansion Valve is actually under warranty at no cost and there should be little charge for refrigerant because it can be captured and put back in to the system after the repair with little loss. I contacted Omar and NS Heating and Cooling and requested the old Thermal Expansion Valve so I could exchange it for a new one under warranty. He returned the valve after a few days, but he cut the power tube off the top of the valve, voiding the warranty. Mike provided an honest assessment and stated the previous contractor provided extremely poor and dishonest work. Refrigerant was all over the A/C unit, floor and walls of the basement. He also expressed frustration that NS Heating and Cooling would cut the power tube on purpose so that I would not be able to exchange it under warranty. Mike got the part the next day and spent the evening fixing the previous contractor's disaster. He provided a fair price for honest work. Something that's hard to find these days. read more

I had my heat pump inspected and serviced. He showed up on time and walked me through everything he was doing. He didn't have an up sell on everything either (very refreshing compared to the last contractor I had). He told me I don't need to add coolant (the last company said it was ~$270 and I needed it ASAP). He helped me decide the best setting for the thermostat to keep my system running well. I will definitely use Bettius HVAC for my Heating and Cooling needs from now on! read more

Middle of July temperature is 100, I was away at my son's baseball tournament, and our air conditioner went out at home. Well I called the guy who installed it years ago. He asked when was it installed I said I guess a few years ago, well he looks it up, and it was twelve years ago to be exact. I though well at least I've not had trouble in 12 years so that's good. Anyway, he's in northern Virginia, I'm in Maryland, but he say's he'll come over tonight 9pm. I tell him my wife will be there but I'm out of town. He showed up promptly at 9, with his helper, quickly diagnosed the problem (the AC Capacitor) changed it, that night, and was so reasonable, I still sing his praises. So, if you need air conditioning or heating and want great, honest, prompt, professional work, call Bettius, they're the best. read more

Mike and his crew responded to my late afternoon. Call and made it late that evening when the AC stopped working on a 100F day. No one else agreed to show up that afternoon. He came in, troubleshooted the problem and put the AC back to work. He was very informative and provided advice on various aspects of maintenance and repair. He also was very reasonably priced. I highly recommend him and he sure is on top of my list now! read more

We were in need of a new heat pump system and received two estimates - one from a 'heavily advertised' company and one from Bettius Mechanical HVAC (who we had used previously). Bettius Mechanical HVAC's owner, Mike, gave us a quote that was $4000 less than the other company. Because we knew, from our previous dealings with Bettius, that they were reliable and trustworthy, we went ahead with them for the purchase and installation. Mike installed the new system, with warranty, in a timely, professional and skilled manner. No need to go to anyone else...they get the job done! read more

it's been 8 years since my 5 star rating in 2011. We have since continued to use Bettius several times for issues big and small. On all occasions all issues are resolved quickly. Mike is a great trouble shooter, highly skilled. He has the ability to quickly diagnose , provide workaround or recommendation to fix or replace. read more

My furnace broke the day before a big snow storm. I called a co. who estimated a $700 repair job....I asked Mike for a 2nd opinion. Mike showed up right when we agreed, took a second look at what the other company had told me and thoroughly explained how wrong they had been! He knew exactly what my system needed and had the other co. done the work my HVAC could have had additional dammage. Without charging me anything...Mike got my heat working before the snow storm hit and I am so glad he came out to evaluate! I feel that he saved my heating system! Mike is incredibly friendly and it is good to know there are honest and knowledgeable people you can rely on in this repair business. read more

We have been using Bettius Mechanical heating and air conditioning services since 2005 and have always been pleased with the excellent service we received. Recently, my husband contacted them when our 14-year old HVAC system's heat pump stopped working. Mr. Bettius came the next day. After checking our HVAC and not finding any problems with the system, he checked our thermostat and found it was set incorrectly (by us). After resetting the thermostat, the heat pump worked properly. Mr. Bettius did not charge us and would not accept any compensation whatsoever. We highly recommend Bettius Mechanical. read more

I used Michael Bettius a few times. The first was after moving into my new condo and the A/C stopped working. He came by quickly and replaced the thermostat, which corrected the problem. The second time I called him was a few years later when my a/c again went out. To his credit, he came over for an emergency visit late on a Saturday night and filled up the freeon in my leaking unit. He said he could replace the unit for me at a reasonable price and we worked out a time for him to come back for installation. He didn't even charge me for the emergency visit or freeon that visit. I was so appreciative. He seems like a very nice guy. Unfortunately, after he installed my new unit, I had continous problems from the get go. The a/c continuously stopped functioning. I had the unit 5 years, and he needed to make a house call at least 1 or 2 times a year to come by and fix the unit, which inevitably stopped blowing cool air every year. On one visit, he admitted I had a leak. This was a NEW unit. He did not charge me on any of these visits, as it was under warranty. But the stress of worrying about my unit constantly going out and having to miss work to meet him was annoying. Now I am six years since I had the unit installed and it crashed once again. Since the warranty ran out, I called another company to come check it out. They pointed out corrosion from the leak and said even though I had the unit installed 6 years ago, it was still a 10 year old unit. They said it was not the best quality model and it also had not been installed in the best possible way. So now I am purchasing another unit, when this should have lasted longer than this. What I am paying now for a better model isn't even that more expensive - and it's six years later! I think Mike Bettius seems like a nice guy and may have done his best, but in the end I got burned and cannot recommend him other than for minor maintenance related fixes. read more

I would highly recommend Bettius Mechanical for any and all of your HVAC needs. This past weekend, they replaced a 20 year old heat pump system and we couldn't be happier with the results. The install was quick, less than two full days, and they even stayed late to get more work done. Even the neatness of the install was notable. Very professional service. read more

This guy was the best! He does all the work himself so there is low overhead. He also had the lowest bid for completely replacing my HVAC system, half the price of the highest bid. This included custom made vents to hook up to the new system. I'm completely satisfied and recommend him to everyone. read more

Everyone should have Bettius Mechanical on their speed dial for heating and air conditioning. He is incredibly knowledgeable, reliable and honest. At the end of March, when we had a few cold nights, my furnace decided to stop working. I called one of the big Arlington companies who came out and wanted to charge me $1500 to fix it. A friend told me to call Bettius Mechanical. Mike Bettius came out on a Saturday and diagnosed the problem. Turned out I did not need $1500 in parts and repairs. He fixed it for $180. He was prompt, reliable, explained the problem. I could not ask for a better company. Will give him all my business. read more

I have been dealing with Mike Bettius for 20 years! He replaced my original heating/AC unit back in 1998 (unit was 30 years old) with a new system, which I still have. He comes to service it bi-annually, and it has been a good system overall. Of the few times I have had an issue that needed to be addressed immediately, Mike came to the rescue...usually the same day. I guess I have been spoiled by this, as it's not uncommon for people to wait days, or even a week, to get service when dealing with other companies. Mike always works diligently until the issue has been resolved. What I am also impressed with is that Mike never tries to sell/oversell a product. He will keep your current system going (even when it's out of warranty) if he feels that it's something that can be fixed. I am contemplating a new unit in the future. Once again, I will have Mike install it for me. With him, I know the job will be done right and that he offers very reliable service at a reasonable price. read more

Mike is a gem. I called him after my AC unit stopped pumping out cold air during a run of nearly 100-degree days. He came out same day I called him, had great communication, and was able to identify and fix the problem quickly. Turned out that the capacitor needed to be replaced. He was here about an hour from start to finish, including running out for parts. The bill was extremely reasonable, and I appreciate that he didn't just tell me I needed a new unit like I know is common in a lot of cases. Highly recommended. read more

I have had Mike Bettius, (owner) check, and or replace/repair my home Air Conditioner several times in the past 15 years. Most recently he replaced a "motherboard" for my unit. He was quick, accurate, and the service was free. He always tells you the truth, no BS-ing..no adding-on costs, etc. I don't know anyone else who knows how to REPAIR units. Most contractors want you to replace, so THEY can make more $$$. Not Mike, he knows how to do the job, and is MUCH more reasonable than other estimates I have had. I highly recommend him. I repeat...he is very truthful, and trustworthy. (something you don't see much of these days) read more

I had an old AC unit, over 20 years old. It was time to get a new one and was recommended to contact Bettius HVAC by a good friend. Mike came out and gave an honest assessment of my unit and whether I could fix or replace it. Because the unit was 20 years old, it was out of compliance to today's standards so Mike gave me the run down and explained what I needed to do and proposed several scenarios to get it right. I went with a new condensing unit, replaced the indoor coil with case, rerouted the electrical, and brought everything to today's standards. Very reasonable and explained everything that needed to be done and worked until everything was running properly. He tested everything inspected all the ducts and returns to make sure cool air was circulating properly. He takes pride in his work. Very satisfied and will call him for any AC/heating needs and will recommend him to friends. read more
