Robert gave me a quote via email and at that time, I got cold feet, and sat on it for years. Years. I just wasn't brave enough to start a big project in my house. Fast forward 3 years later, I reached out to Robert again for a quote - honestly, I thought he'd be annoyed at me for reaching out for quotes again but I encountered the same speed in responding to me, the same professional reply, except a much, much, larger number, ha! I will say, I understand why the price was raised so much.. over the past few years, everything has gone up so much, including lumber so it made sense why I should have moved my home project along years ago. Thats a lesson I learned - that time often does make things more expensive. At any rate, though the quote was high, the price was fair, and I understood that. Let's rewind a bit, so prior to reaching out to Robert, I had also reached out to another vendor, to get the same type of quote in order to be prudent, and to weigh my options. That other person came, spent over an hour to measure, chit chat and talk through scenarios. He was a really nice guy, super personable, but - he told me he'd send over a quote.. and then weeks had passed.. and I never heard from him again? Odd that he never sent it, nor did he ever follow up. Well, that was that. And perhaps that previous experience made me appreciate Robert much more. So I had Robert came over to chat and measured my walls, just like the vendor who ghosted me, but this time Robert took just a handful (if not less) measurements and needing nothing else. It was bizarre to me that the first vendor basically drew a sketch, and measured relentlessly, while Robert took one look at the space, and knew what to do. After our consult, Robert scheduled an appointment for me to come visit his showroom to decided what exactly I wanted in terms of finish and railings. He even took a sample that he had and painted over some of it to show me what a certain varnish would look like on it. Him doing that very much helped me make a sound decision. But even after I made my decision, he let me take the sample home, so that I could see it against my walls. Wow. I was quite impressed with his patience and ability to help me make a decision that would be later pleased with, and could live with. I can't remember how long I waited, but the job did not start right away. I did have to wait over a month for my project to go underway but once I read all his reviews online, I knew I was in safe hands and good things come to those who wait. He had other jobs during my wait and I needed to be patient. I never did see Robert again, but thats okay. He sent two of his crew men over a 2 day span. They were remarkable. Prompt, polite, professional - they worked so hard each day, and I was so impressed with how they handled themselves and their job. They completed the project to the T and I was over the moon with the outcome. I highly recommend Stair Pros to anyone looking for stairs renovation and also want to warn other people that other less skilled contractors usually will deliver less skilled work. If you want quality and can budget for quality, Robert and his team is the way to go!

Good company, gone bad…read more Had Decks Plus come out to replace deck boards with composite boards. Originally they tried to pull a fast one by doing subpar work with the new boards being unleveled with our deck. I called them out on it, in which 3 supervisors came out to address the issue in which they did, resulting in additional deck joists that needed to be added. Of course, they bought cheap untreated woods from Lowe's resulting in cracked wood, and now they all need to be replaced. Just think, they were NOT going to address it until I caught them. Post construction I found MANY missing nails in the boards causing them to move up & down. Again, subpar work. Remember, "I thought" they did good work originally & even got them to come back out for additional work, in which the owner listened to our needs but in the end NEVER provided a quote. So at the time, we decided not to move forward on the project. That being said, months later we decided to revisit the project, and figured it might have been a flute on not receiving the quote. But this time, they didn't even reach back out when we request work. We're now having another company to come out to fix their issues, and earn our $30,000 business. Choose who you do business with wisely.

I hired Honeycutt to redo my guest bathroom floor. I'd it done last year by KJ Natural Floor. The…read moretechnician laid the floor tiles unlevel even though it was on a level concrete slab. He blamed the floor but it was level and it's on a slab which he also claimed. I found Honeycutt and Travis came from the Charlotte location to for an interview and give estimate. I like Travis. He quoted a price that was a little high but I was ready to get the floor done because I was scheduled to have Ankle replacement surgery (September 3) and then go to a nursing facility for 10-12 weeks. He rushed to get me on scheduled. He contracted a crew who is very competent BUT wasn't reliable. Travis said that they did million dollar properties. My home is not a million dollars home but it is mine and I want the same services because my money pays just as a millionaire does. Martin is the supervisor and Hugo, his tile guy is capable of doing great work but you have to stay on both. Martin would come with Hugo to get him started and leave without telling me. Hugo would do the same. I had to call Travis several times to find out where there where and if they were at lunch or done. Travis said that he had multiple jobs going and he pulled them to help me. I appreciate that but my job was not a priority. The first day, Hugo came late, removed the tile, worked for an hour and left. He didn't tell me and left the back door open and the garage. Travis said that he may be at lunch but he could have told me. Travis did speak with both Martin and Hugo. Hugo would tell me each time from then on. I just had to work on his schedule. He was supposed to remove the tile down to the concrete slab and level but he left all of the thin-set and placed the tile that I purchased on top of the old. He made it level but the floor is set high. I have issues with falling so my concerns with falling is great. I purchased two marble transition pieces; one thin and the other wide. Hugo said that he used the new thin but it looks identical to the old. The wide transition piece was out of stock. Travis said that he go get it and let me deal directly with Martin but he'd be available to supervise. He was just going to let them do the the work and give me the price. Travis offered to clean my bath because I wasn't able. I purchased cleaning supplies and mops but he must have been busy with opening the Raleigh location because he did not come back to clean. He is working alone so I get it. He asked where I would be at the nursing home so that he could send flowers. Martin has not contacted me about the transition piece so I am going with another company. He did the quarter round and it was awful. Hugo came and did it and it looked great. He also removed two tiles that didn't go with the other tiles. Travis had him fix it. Obviously, they both have specialties but just getting them to do it was the issue and that is why I gave a 3.

In 2021 I paid Cabinet Cures of Raleigh to reface my kitchen cabinets with maple wood over MDF. The…read morework looked good initially, but within 2-3 years, peeling began along the top edges of doors, drawer fronts, and some seams. I've attached clear photos showing the damage. I reached out for warranty service in 2025 providing details and photos. They came out and took pictures. The company responded by email, the peeling was due to water damage and therefore not covered. The first photo shows the peeling near the sink hich may have gotten wet a few times,but it would have to be soaked every day to cause this much peeling. The second photo is of a drawer on the island far from sinks/ stove splashes, as well as some of the other affected areas on the cabinets and drawers. The rest of the kitchen shows no moisture problems. This feels like poor material quality or adhesive failure, not customer fault. As a retired widow on a fixed income it is disappointing they wouldn't stand behind their work. If you're considering cabinet refacing, I suggest getting multiple quotes and clarifying warranty terms for delamination/peeling issues.1 star for the product failure and warranty experience.

Now for a current update 2/3/2020 (two weeks after initial work was done) Because of this companies inability to listen, they are still causing issues for me. I had a hole in my bathroom wall from a broken sink ripped off the wall by other contractors. I specifically told Matrix's CEO Ryan, and his guys, not to patch it up, but paint around it, as the contractors coming right fix it will need to do it. They patched it up anyways, like it was some favor for me. Today the contractors came out to install the sink and they couldn't because they couldn't see how the wall was supported. Now they'll have to come out at a later date to put a hole in the wall to install the proper support, since they couldn't see it from being patched up by Matrix. Matrix wasted theirs and my time by doing that, and now wasting my money because I have to take off more work.
