It's been a loooong time since my hot husband has been bragging about this place and asking to take our family to taste and confirm. Well...last week we got our chance! We visited Crooked Lane Brewery just to sample this family owned and operated food truck superstar. The sandwich board menu had some delish options so I'm thankful our party of 6 was able to order the perfect cross section of food. I chose the chicken philly, hubs got the ribs, kids were cheeseburgers all the way. My 75 years young aunt dared to try the jalapeño poppers. We all shared a bit to get a taste of everything. Chicken Philly was pretty darn tatsy. The bread was soft and fresh. I'm usually only a fan of the cole slaw I make but i had to try this bacon cole slaw. It was simply perfect! I would have never thought I would ever utter those words about cole slaw...pigs must be flying somewhere. Cheeseburgers were solid. Definitely a crowd pleaser. Poppers were good. Not the best ever but creamy and just enough kick. Ribs were "off the hook" said my grill master husband. He bbq's about 4 times a week and he can make anything on the grill taste fire!! On top of the great food, the owners of the truck are fantastic. They are such a friendly family and take the time to make everyone's experience an enjoyable one. We have had JJ's BBQ a few times now. Once at Goat House Brewery and a couple times over at Dragas Brewery. Everything we have tried was absolutely great. The TRI-TIP sandwich and the RIBS are definitely my favorites, but don't forget to order the GARLIC FRIES too - they are fabulous! Oh, and my husband loves the WINGS. I cannot comment on the food, because I never got any. Was at brew pub in Auburn and ordered some garlic fries. It took 15 minutes to order, 1st in line at window. There seemed to be some disorganization and no one could take order..."We'll be right with you". After ordering, waited 25 minutes and no fries. Went back to window to inform them and was not given any information or food. 10 minutes later, went back to get refund, but there was a line and no one could take an order..."We'll be right with you". Food trucks are probably one of my favorite kinds of food and JJ's Smoke and BBQ has to be among the best I've ever had! I had the opportunity to eat the pulled pork sandwich with the side of the chef's awesome Sriracha chips. The cole slaw served with the pulled pork offered a perfect pairing with its light, yet so flavorful taste profile. The cashews were a pleasant and surprising twist to the slaw. The owners are super nice folks and take BBQ very serious. For me they get whats right about BBQ The Meat! So don't waste time looking around the 916 for great BBQ because there really isn't. Instead look up these guys on Facebook and find out there next stop...Oh and BTW I forgot to mention one of the best parts they are always at great breweries in the local area like Goat House Brewing, Out of Bounds, Final Gravity, Moonraker and Knee Deep Brewing...which our families favorite is Goat House for not only the beers but the overall laid back chill environment there. Smoke was good on the tri-tip but this BBQ food truck didn't even serve BBQ sauce with the sandwich (not on it or on the side) ... had to ask for it. Sandwich served with mayo, lettuce, and red ripe tomatoes. Odd but a nice change minus the mayo part. Average store-bought buns/rolls. Homemade chips were great. Chicken sandwich looked average. And they ran out of pulled pork early in the evening, so that must be the thing you need to order. read more

They came out for a rocklin thunder event and i have never seen or heard of them before. I tried the tri tip sandwhich with fruit and the pulled pork sandwhich with chips. Tri tip was so flavorful and came on a roll with some kind of aoili, and some produce. It was very tender and easy to chew. The fruit was very fresh and there was a wide variety. They also put a small cookie looking dessert on the side. I would buy a whole pack of those things!! Yum!! It tasted like cake, cookies and cornbread all at once!! Tipped with powdered sugar!!! Cole slaw was delicious!!!! I would have given 5 stars if the burger patties were home made... the veggies that put on the burgers tasted homegrown and like they just picked them!!! Very disappointed with the food and more importantly the service. The "garlic fries" are made from frozen ore Ida crinkle fries which were under cooked. Don't even think about asking for ketchup or they will berate you in front of other customers. Maybe they were having a bad night but I would stay away from these guys. When they told me I would have to pay for packets of ketchup I was willing to do it. Even though it seems a little ridiculous charging for condiments I asked politely how much extra and while they tried to figure that out another employee standing behind me told other customers that they could order " as soon as I was done taking all of their ketchup". Totally shocked at the disrespect to a customer that just bought $30 worth of food I walked away. Unbelievable and embarrassing. If I am a business thinking about having them out, think twice they will treat your customers horribly. read more

Had JJ's today for the second time. Both times: cold cheap white roll. Tasteless coleslaw. Tritip today was not well trimmed, which means that I had to pick hunks of gristle, fat etc. out of my mouth while eating in a public place. Last time, I had the hot dog. Hot dog was good, but the bun was cold. For an $8 dog, I expect a great roll & a choice of quality condiments (not just one pkt of plain yellow mustard). The BEST food truck in town! Not only is the BBQ delicious, but the family that runs the food truck is so nice and gracious. I have ordered almost everything from their menu, but the ribs and pulled pork are my favorite!
