This little gem is located right outside the Home Depot and has been for as long as I can remember. California is not really known for BBQ and that's ok , but this little gem does it right. They have a variety of things and you can make a combo out of your favorite Sandwich. They have seating next to the trailer with a small awning in case the sun decides to come out. The trailer is clean and has condiments for you to use. The vibe here is awesome, the owner is freaking hilarious! She's always cracking jokes and I don't think I have ever been here and not walked away laughing or smiling. It's just her I see working but wow is she prompt and fast. We visited Crooked Lane Brewery just to sample this family owned and operated food truck superstar. The sandwich board menu had some delish options so I'm thankful our party of 6 was able to order the perfect cross section of food. I chose the chicken philly, hubs got the ribs, kids were cheeseburgers all the way. My 75 years young aunt dared to try the jalapeño poppers. We all shared a bit to get a taste of everything. Chicken Philly was pretty darn tatsy. The bread was soft and fresh. I'm usually only a fan of the cole slaw I make but i had to try this bacon cole slaw. It was simply perfect! I would have never thought I would ever utter those words about cole slaw...pigs must be flying somewhere. Cheeseburgers were solid. Definitely a crowd pleaser. Poppers were good. Not the best ever but creamy and just enough kick. Ribs were "off the hook" said my grill master husband. He bbq's about 4 times a week and he can make anything on the grill taste fire!! Perfect location because I had time to see them, and decide if I was going to make a stop. I pulled up to the massive set up. The big truck with 2 smokers in back... it was a bbq lovers dream to have a set up like this.. not too mention this is the only one of its kind built like this. I parked close and skipped past the menu and went straight to the man in charge today. This is where I met Ash. I'm not sure how long he was here, but he was busy. In fact, I hope I wasn't crowding him by watching him slice the brisket, making sandwiches, cutting ribs... it was satisfying to watch. After he finished that order, I mentioned that I remembered seeing Buckethead BBQ in local competitions. They have a location in Roseville that they do the cooking out of and you can call ahead, order online, and even show up. It's first come first serve, so get there early! I went with a brisket sandwich (bc I saw it had a good amount of meat on it when I watched him make one) and 3 ribs with a side of their corn salad. He was fast and added a ramekin of their bbq sauce in the box. I jammed home to enjoy a few bites before heading to work. The ribs... are by far some of the best I've ever had! It was flexible and pulled apart so easily. Super tender and had a good amount of fat on it... not too much. That's when I started dunking into one of the best BBQ sauces I have ever tried. Barbecued meats are somewhat difficult to review because there are many different regional styles and ways the meats can be presented. Many folks love their ribs to be "fall-off-the-bone", but as a KCBS certified barbecue judge, I can tell you that style is not considered competition-worthy. Some like their brisket tender but lean; others find the fatty pieces to be the most flavorful. What I can tell you for sure is that if I had come across the ribs, brisket, and chicken that I had the pleasure of eating today at an official KCBS competition, I would have given top scores to all three. Excellent barbecue, all with the perfect amount of smoky goodness and tenderness. I had the pleasure of meeting pitmaster/owner Dave and his partner Ash. Really nice gentlemen who are deservedly proud of the top-notch barbecue they are serving. They are happy to answer any questions you might have, and they definitely do know their barbecue. Service with a smile makes for a fun experience. One of my favorite kinds of discoveries in restaurants is finding a place that, from the outside, doesn't necessarily promise much. Then you decide to give it a try, and WOW, it turns out to be great. And that's what you will find with BHBBQ. It's a simple stand with an awning, sitting at the very back of a large Raley's parking lot (and easy to miss if you don't know where to look), and from the outside it just doesn't look like it will be special. But BHBBQ is very special, and that is a lot of what makes this barbecue such a treat. One cautionary note: I just happened to find BHBBQ on Instagram yesterday and saw that they were going to be nearby today. They do travel, and so before you go hunting for it, be sure you know where they'll be. They announce their schedules on Instagram, Facebook, and on their website. They also have a phone number. But this one is definitely worth the search if you're into really excellent barbecue. We had the ribs, brisket, chicken, hot links, beans, and mac & cheese. Everything was top-notch. The chili on the dog was the sort of chili that you'd find almost anywhere... maybe from a can? ...and sort of middle of the road, both in texture and taste, but... hey... this is a "Chili Dog" and it all works in Rocklin! I could have added condiments from the condiment station, but these "dogs" were standalone delicious, messy, hands-on-eating delicious, juicy and great to eat. I ate them all, I enjoyed every one of them, and I was simply filled with bargain-basement hot dog goodness from Wienerschnitzel, located in Rocklin, CA. These were truly "no frills" dogs, with simply a bun, chili and the hot dog. But... priced at a dollar each... how could anybody complain? I simply LOVED my lunch! When it all came down to the bill, including state sales tax, the price of my lunch totaled $4.31. Can you say "bargain basement?" Is this 2025 or 1995? A school cafeteria lunch is priced higher...
