    Tri tip!

Meat was cooked perfectly! Great flavor and texture. Highly recommend. Tri tip, pulled pork and sausages were amazing.

Chef Dave slices a slab of tri tip he recently removed from the smoker.

Buckethead BBQ serves amazing wood-smoked Texas style barbecue from a custom built trailer - "The Rig" - at events centered around western Placer County. They operate out of Roseville, CA, and they're a mobile restaurant, so you'll need to check them out on their website or their social media page to find out where they'll be. Follow them for some of the best EVER barbecue in Placer County! Buckethead BBQ isn't a traditional brick and mortar operation, as they operate out of a custom-built trailer, specifically designed for mobile barbecue, they call "The Rig," so when you're in the mood for superior barbecue, you need to check their website, or their social media to see where they'll be setting up shop. Today's menu was posted outside the order counter. The menu varies slightly depending on the event, and what meat the restaurant has on hand. From the "Combo Plate" section of the menu, I went with "3 Meats," which included two sides. My choices of meat included brisket, pulled pork and tri tip, and sides were "Dave's Famous Baked Beans," and "Southern Slaw." Chef Dave included a cup of extra barbecue sauce on the side. Brisket. Such an interesting cut of meat, as it tends to be tough, hard to work with, and takes many hours of preparation and smoking to create a perfect product. Chef Dave and his team nailed the brisket, as it was juicy, tender, perfectly pink/slightly brown on the inside, with a beautiful, slightly crusty smoke cap on the outside. Ah... the pulled pork, which would make any Carolina "foodie" proud to enjoy and embrace. The pork was seasoned, marinated, tender, juicy, with a touch of the delicious smoke from the oak and almond wood, shredded, and topped with Buckethead's tangy barbecue sauce. Such amazing tri tip! Like the brisket, it was smoked to perfection, medium to dark pink on the inside, with a perfect, slightly crusty smoke cap on the outside. If you like your tri tip tender, you've come to the right place, so forget your knife, as Dave's tri tip was fork tender. You simply slice off a piece of the meat, dip it into the barbecue sauce - if that's your thing - and enjoy. You'd have to look a long way in Placer County to find a better tri tip. Dave's "Famous Baked Beans" worked out to be famously good, as they were tender, but with just the right amount of firmness, and served in a thick, slightly sweet sauce, where the brown sugar stood out. I'll enjoy these beans with any meal! Southern Slaw... may I say it again? Southern Slaw. I could eat this all day, everyday at every meal, as it was that good. I'm a HUGE fan of coleslaw and this was some of the best that I've ever had the pleasure to enjoy during my 73 trips around the sun. Alright... are you looking for some of the best Texas style barbecue in Placer County? Or... some of the best barbecue of any genre? You'll have to check out Buckethead BBQ's website, or their social media page to find their location, as they're mobile, but when they've set up shop at a location near you - or any location - you'll enjoy amazing barbecue. Delicious barbecue, served by friendly folks, always a great event or location... friends... we're talkin' FIVE STARS!

Went to Moonraker in Auburn. Ordered 2 sandwiches from food truck , with a small tip (4 bucks) the total was 52.31. The sandwich was mid, cold bun, and that was it! No side or anything. We ate the sandwiches in 4 bites. More slaw on the sandwich than meat. Really disappointed. Do better please.

    Buckethead bbg menu

Ordered the Pulled Pork Sando and Chicken Sando. Total $42.58. Huh? According to there posted sign it should have been $34? I understand there was tax, but $8.58? I mentioned this while paying and he stated they hadn't changed the pricing on the board. It's a piece of tape. And the crazyness is the same type of overprice review was posted 4 months ago. What? And over $42 for 2 mid size sandwiches? The food was okay but definitely not worth the price

Stopped by Buckhorn for the first time for Father's Day lunch. Great joint for pretty good BBQ!…read more Buckhorn is an order at the counter and get a number type place. The line was long when we came in, but moved quickly. The bigger problem is that there aren't nearly enough tables for how many folks were dining in. We did end up finding a table on their patio- which is always a win for our family. For about $70, we got two kids' meals (one slider and one chicken tenders), a shareables order of the tri-tip tacos (that my wife ate as her entree), and a two-protein platter with the pulled pork and tri-tip. They asked how we wanted our tri-tip cooked, and we answered medium, but all of the tri-tip came out well done. The flavors of everything were good, though, and the portions are substantial. The kids' meals are a great value. The two-protein platter was enough for two meals if you wanted it to be. The tacos were filled generously and were very tasty. I enjoyed the coleslaw- though I read some others find it bland. I did not think that at all. I really enjoyed the selection of sauces available at Buckhorn. They have a pump-your-own-sauce station with several types of BBQ sauce, horseradish sauce, ketchup, and spicy ranch. Yum! My favorite was the mustard-based BBQ sauce. Overall, I would totally return to Buckhorn. I could probably lean 4 stars here, but I think it's a better spot for BBQ than many others in my area and in the Roseville area that I've tried. It's certainly made my Roseville area visit list.

The service at the counter was very pleasant then you go into make your own sodas. My wife had the tri-tip burger and her tri-tip was grisly. I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was Sahara dry. Even generous amounts of bbq sauce couldn't save it. Bbq sauce not bad though. Cole slaw for the sando was also pretty good. The highlight of the visit were the OG fries. Huge plate suitable for sharing across 2-4 people...If we ever went back, it would be for cold beers and sharing a plate of fries....

The pancit was a hitter, especially with the pork skewers and lechón. For around $30, you can get a tray that easily feeds 3-4 people. That's hard to beat. The FOOD: Not great at all...hardly even good. I don't think I have ever been to an establishment where everything that we ordered was pretty bad. We ordered chicken wings... half of the order was barbecue the other half was parmesan and herb. They were dry and the flavor was lacking in both. I also ordered their fried pickles. I didn't know it was possible to mess those up until the basket of yummy, flavorful pickles came and were completely wet and soggy with breading coming off of it. What a disappointment. My husband ordered the brisket sandwich with their cheesy potatoes. The waitress described it as like a fully loaded potato. That sounds yummy, only it wasn't. It was presented as partially mashed potatoes with chunks in it and the cheesy flavor was almost like the flavor from a packet of mac and cheese sauce. The sandwich was a flavorless tasting shredded barbecue. We asked for barbecue sauce to put on the sandwich and it tasted like somebody put vinegar and sugar in that sauce. I ordered the chopped BBQ sourdough bread sandwich and there's no way that was sourdough that I was eating but instead tasted like bread that was toasted. That was probably the best thing I ate was just the bread because the meat was as I described before no flavor and very disappointing. I also ordered fries and thought at least I can eat these but I was wrong. Even their frozen fries were lacking in flavor. We also both ordered iced tea and asked for yes, artificial sweetener and we were informed that they don't carry any. Just regular sugar. That was a first for me! Never ever been to any restaurant or eating establishment that didn't carry a variety of sugar for people who drink iced tea. It's unfortunate that everything my husband and I ordered was really bad. It almost was comical except that we paid $80 for that inedible food. The Service: Our server, Ana was awesome!! She was the only one taking care of everybody and she did it flawlessly. When we asked for extra sauce, she delivered it quickly. She was good about checking on all the customers even though there were only 4 of us in total. A family of 5 left 10 minutes after we arrived and 2 people sat at the bar 15 minutes after we ordered. She had a great attitude and smiled a lot. She said she was new to the job but her actions made it look as though she were a veteran. OVERALL: The service was great and the establishment itself is a great neighborhood sports bar hang out but the food was really really bad. It wouldn't have been a terrible thing if just one or maybe two items we ordered weren't that great but the fact that every single thing including the tea was bad, is the reason that we will not visit this place again. By the way, it took me a couple of weeks to write this, because I aim to see the good in everything. I do not like to receive negativity or give it. It was difficult to be that honest especially when other people in the reviews really liked the food. Good for them! I do hope that this place will have enough customers to stay open for a long time. I wish them the best of luck.
