Friday Hally Hour experience which starts at 3 We tried several of the dish's and wow the pizza of the day had quite a kick with jalapeños & andouille sausage!!! The mussels are in a curry sauce which is definitely different but all seemed to enjoy. Great service and nice size portions! Too hot for the patio but it Looked beautiful

Known in Kansas City for its extensive wine list our glasses were never empty. And the food was on point. A few of the standouts are the crab cakes - one of the best I have had in the city. Cooked to perfection and full of fresh flavors. Paco shrimp for an irresistible kick. The KC strip was mouthwatering. Melt in your mouth perfection. The brussell sprouts covered in a sweet teriyaki sauce was a happy accident that is a tasty treat! I could list everything I loved - because there's a lot. So if you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience with a great outdoor patio this is your spot!

My friend and I visited JJ's for the first time for restaurant week. The ambience was very nice, the service was excellent, and the food was very good. The dessert was to die for! We also really enjoyed the wine.

JJ's Restaurant in the Country Club Plaza is one spot you do not want to miss out on! If you are a local or simply visiting JJ's, you will want to add it to your list of places to dine. Every course is unique, delicious, and fresh. Must try menu items include: The Paco Shrimp (bacon wrapped shrimp with horseradish), the Lobster Mac & Cheese, the Chilean Sea Bass served with fiddlehead ferns, and ANY of the steaks. End your meal with the Olive Oil Cake and the Chocolate Ganache Cake! Relax on the patio, sit at the bar area, or the snag a table. Check out JJ's asap!

This place was life changing. The staff was incredible. The atmosphere was romantic. The food was out of this world. Our waiter was extremely helpful and accommodating. I would recommend this place to everyone but it is on the pricier side. However, it's more than just a dinner. It's an experience and worth every penny! SN, this restaurant doesn't have a parking garage so we had to park on the street. We were lucky to find a good spot right across the street from the restaurant. Lastly, I ordered the wild boar ragu which was delectable and even better the next day when reheated.

Love the patio, service is always amazing, nice happy hour, great wines. Miss the Paco shrimp on HH. My only disappointment is the mussels with so much curry making it bright yellow and overpowering. The traditional simple prep is delicious so I wish that was an alt option!

Everything was great, crab cakes have a little too much filler. Food was fresh, service was amazing.

I have lived in KC 7 years and somehow never knew JJ's existed and I feel like I've missed out. Ambiance: This is an elegant spot that provides cozy vibes. We went for a birthday dinner and it was the perfect spot. Service was amazing ! (Shoutout Dean) they even gave a free dessert for the birthday girl. Food/Drinks: Everything the table ordered was absolutely delicious. We had the meatballs and cheese platter for apps, and various main dishes that everyone loved. Doesn't seem like there's a bad option. My Chicken Marsala was to die for and honestly who even says that about Chicken Marsala ??

Great food great service memorable meal. The group ventured north of 435 and our local southern haunts to revisit an old favorite: JJ's. It was one of our spots several times a year before their fire. We enjoyed the underground parking albeit a bit of a search to find it, just circle the block. Validate your ticket. Fabulous Jason served us in the bar for pre dinner drinks, JW Black, Kettle and a new gin from London. Well done. Lobster tails and steaks were superb. Don't miss the long time favorite appetizer Poco shrimp wrapped in bacon. It brought back memories. These are a bit smaller and slightly overcooked than before. We would have paid more for not tiny shrimp. Elini gave great service. Slight complaint the room was quite loud, likely says more about us than the venue. Ha!

    JJ's Pride

Was in on business and wanted to get a nice, steak dinner and JJ's did not disappoint! I had browsed the menu before stopping in but the waiter, David, swayed me to try a different cut and side than I had planned on and was very pleased with the suggestion he made (also a less expensive cut than I had planned on). Meal was very well prepared, David was very personable and his service was excellent as were the other members of the staff. Parking in the garage was validated as well.

Beautiful and cozy yet elegant restaurant with delightful entree options and an extensive wine list. I come here especially for the brussel spouts. I've yet to find a restaurant that makes them better.

Located at 2976 Gillham Rd in Kansas City, MO, this spot absolutely lives up to the hype. I had heard so many great things before going, and I'm happy to say it did not disappoint. The brunch menu is impressively diverse, with something for everyone. It was honestly hard to choose because everything sounded so good. We started with a vanilla oat milk latte, which was perfectly made -- smooth, rich, and not overly sweet. For starters and mains, we tried the smothered biscuit, dill caper deviled eggs (including the sriracha version, which had the perfect kick), buttermilk fried chicken, the chicken and waffles three-way (beautiful presentation and incredible flavor), and the vegetarian quiche of the day. Every single dish delivered on flavor, quality, and presentation. You can truly tell care goes into both the food and the overall experience. This has officially earned a spot on my list of top brunch spots in Kansas City. Highly recommend for a weekend brunch date, girls' brunch, or when you just want to treat yourself to something delicious. Trying to capture how delicious everything was in one review is tough, but I'll give it my best. First off, customer service was outstanding--Lyssa truly knocked it out of the park. She was so delightful, and I couldn't help but laugh when we both got excited about my sandwich choice. These folks really know their stuff. They treat their animals with care and expertise, and it shows. Having been to many fine dining spots, I can honestly say the quality of meat here at The Upper Cut KC surpasses them all. I'm picky about my food and can tell great quality when I see it & taste it. The Upper Cut KC deserves way more than five stars--seriously, I mean it! I also tasted my daughter's brisket sandwich--absolutely tender beyond words. And don't miss their Mac & Cheese; it's worth a standing ovation! Do yourself a favor: just go and experience it! I thought the brisket sandwich was fairly tasty, but it wasn't huge, the onions weren't carmelized they were grilled, and the brisket wasn't smokey. The Mac and cheese was fine and good but not great. If I lived closer and I could get the above with a soda for $20-23, I would give it 4 stars. There's nothing amazing about it to earn 5 stars even if it were priced like I wish. The place wasn't that busy, but with one register running, 4 people in line, and ringing up 2 butcher orders that came in after I was there, it took me about 12 minutes to place the order and another 20 to have my sandwich and side.

I made a reservation in advance which seemed wise in retrospect since the restaurant was quite busy at 7pm. It was a nice gesture by the staff. Our server Adam was too notch, very professional and knowledgeable of the menu. He really made our experience very enjoyable. He even prepared some of our drinks at our table with one hand! Cool guy. Our food was phenomenal, the Chilean Sea Bass was prepared nicely and seasoned lightly with blackend like seasoning. I was surprised at the small portion sizes that came with our dishes. So definitely get the share size sides. Not only is it a bubbling beauty, it tastes just as wonderful! This drink alone is an experience and such a fun way to start. For appetizers, I would highly highly recommend the Ahi Tuna Tartare and the Hamachi Crudo. Other wonderful starters are the Warm Bread Service and a sushi roll (we went with the Spicy Tuna). For dinner, recently, I had the Ahi Tuna and the Chilean Sea Bass. Both were wonderful, but my favorite was definitely the Sea Bass. It is so rich and delicious. Those I was with ordered the Sea Scallops (looked incredible), Filets (with different preparations - Maytag Blue Cheese Crust and Black Truffle Butter), and sides of Bacon Creamed Spinach and Jalapeño Au Gratin (all of which I heard were divine). But the prime rib was shockingly lacking flavor, the filet came out undercooked, service was polite yet inattentive and slow, and the overall experience didn't justify the high-end price tag. Enjoyable night, but not the 5-star steakhouse splurge we hoped for. My wife and I visited the downtown Kansas City location last night for an early birthday dinner. 6:00 p.m. reservation and we were seated immediately in a cozy booth with a festive Christmas-tree napkin fold, nice holiday touch. Atmosphere is classic upscale steakhouse: dark, dim lighting, white tablecloths. Bread was warm, crusty, and excellent. Cocktails were solid, my top-shelf Old Fashioned was very good, wife's mocktail was tasty. Both ordered the Sunday Supper (salad, entrée, dessert). SaladsThe Caesar was outstanding: crisp romaine, perfect anchovy-garlic dressing, plenty of Parmesan, and an ideal crouton-to-green ratio. One of the better Caesars we've had in KC. MainsPlating on both dishes was gorgeous. My wife's 6 oz filet (ordered medium-rare) came out closer to rare. Still tender and high-quality, but the temperature miss was noticeable. Garlic mashed potatoes were creamy and flavorful; the grilled asparagus was unfortunately thick, woody, and surprisingly bland. My 24 oz bone-in prime rib (medium-rare) was cooked perfectly throughout. At the server's recommendation, I had it finished on the grill with extra seasoning. It looked spectacular, vibrant color, beautiful crust. Sadly, the flavor just wasn't there. Severely lacking that deep, beefy punch you expect from a premium cut at this price. The same mashed potatoes were good, and the fresh green beans were spot-on, tender-crisp and bright. Desserts (to-go for the Chiefs game)Sorbet trio (raspberry, plum, blackberry?) was outstanding, bright and intense. Crème brûlée was classic perfection. ServiceFriendly but passively slow and not very attentive. Far from the proactive polish you expect at this level. Bottom line 3.5 starsLooks the part, photographs beautifully, and the Sunday Supper is a steal, but the star proteins fell flat on flavor and service didn't match the price. Good, not great, several KC steakhouses deliver a more memorable splurge for the money. Happy to return for happy hour or bar bites, but for a big celebratory steak dinner I'd go elsewhere.
