I went to this place with my 2 sons after coming back from the Philadelphia airport. I live nearby and was intrigued on how good the place was seeing it full every day. I ordered a coffee and my son's ordered breakfast and orange juice. I add sugar to the coffee and when I was ready to drink it, my son hold my hand and told me: mom don't drink that. I was confused and he said mom turn the cup around and when I did I saw it had red lipstick on it (and I wasn't wearing any lipstick, not even lip gloss). They called the waitress and she only said sorry and brought a new cup. Which I checked really well. No excuses, no discounts nothing. The waitress wasn't even interested in servicing us. My friends and I were looking for a cheap spot to grab a quick bite on our way home from AC, and we ended up at JJ's. Food was pretty good and was definitely one of the better diners I've tried. The menu isn't too overwhelming like other diners and they provide a good list of daily specials and everything is homemade (the beef hash was amazing). However, this place truly shines when it comes to customer service. Everyone there is super friendly and my friend commented that it felt like she was eating in her own kitchen. Really hard to review since the Diner has moved to a much larger location near the old Cardiff mall. Not the old feel of down the road, but owner says he had to close the old one at least temporarily due to seating restrictions. Not going to bash new location, but just not the same. Service and new interior to an old diner are very good. Cleanliness perfect. Food just did not come up to expectations. This place lives up to the hype! The food is insanely delicious and cheap - exactly what diner food should be. It's worth the short drive if you're spending a weekend in Atlantic City The biscuits and gravy are amazing. They put huge chunks of the sausage in it, the gravy is nice a smooth, and it is more than enough to fill you up (surprisingly without being super heavy). Also try out the disco fries - they look like a mess but it's a perfect mix of brown gravy, cheese, and battered fries. Although the food did take a little time to come out, everything comes out piping hot and fresh tasting, so it's worth the wait. read more

Great service and great breakfast & lunch food! Exactly what my friends and i were looking for in AC after a long weekend. One of my friend's whom i was with recommended it and now we know why. Greeted by i think the manager who was super friendly, got to know our names when he told us the specials menu changes everyday depending on what his grandmother wants i think? Just a small gesture like that already told us this was going to be good! I ordered the turkey wrap with avo, lettuce and bacon yum. Came with a bag of chips and pickle. Standard and just what i wanted. I felt much healthier after all those buffets haha. My friends ordered deliah's, eggs benedict, lumberjack and chicken and waffles. All the egg dishes came with choices of sausage or bacon, hash browns. Hash browns weren't as crispy as i would've liked but my friends said the pancakes, french toast and eggs benedict on english muffin were fantastic. Chicken and waffles were heavy af so if you're going to eat that have your stomach ready. Drownedddd in gravy. My friend also got the rubin sandwich with not overly fried french fries. Sauce is a tad spicy my friend coughed on it but they chowed down so quick. Everything was delicious! Go to spot now for brunch when we go back to AC. read more

I would give JJ's 10 stars if I could! We were there on August 30th and had a wonderful server named Mitzi. She was very attentive and friendly. I thought I saw Patty but hadn't been to JJ's in two plus years. Sure enough it was Patty and Mitzi asked her to come to our table. As soon as I started talking she AGAIN remembered us! Unbelievable! She remember me from 2016, 2022 and our newest visit on August 30th! She made my day! And it was her birthday so we got to wish her a happy birthday!!! Oh and the food was delicious as always! I have had a lot of open faced hot roast beef sandwiches and I can honestly say the one I had at JJ's was THE BEST I have ever had. Patty, thanks for making our day. Thanks yelpers for introducing me to another local find. Had late brunch with family, ordered breakfast items. High lights were: -good grits -good omelette (we had vegetarian) -biscuit and gravy was very good Corned beef hash was a hit -hash brown was ok, we should have ordered more grits -fluffy flavorful blueberry pancakes -French toast was ok Small place but very busy and packed. All locals, except us. Good simple honest inexpensive diner food. The owner was a hoot. He came over to us while we were waiting and joked with us about himself and everything else. At first we thought he was an crazed customer but figured out that this was JJ being himself. We had a big tummy contest, he won. His was 9 months. We came here at the recommendation of a friend who has frequented their other location. Service was slow which is fine, but the waitress told us that she had asked the hostess not to seat anyone else in her section when she apologized for the delay, which I don't really think needed to be said. She didn't need to throw the hostess under the bus, a simple apology would have sufficed. That being said, the reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is because my friend found a piece of metal in her food and the situation was not corrected. It's not really clear to us whether this was accidentally dropped on top of her food, or if it was mixed in, but she found this in her meal and despite us letting our waitress know, her apologizing, and apparently showing it to someone in the back after identifying it as a shard of metal from their industrial can opener, it was still on our bill when we asked for the check. She ate most of the rest of her meal since she was hungry, but I think it would have been minimum courtesy to at least strike her meal from our bill. We don't live in the area so we really don't have a reason to ever come back, but there were quite a lot of people in the diner and they otherwise have good ratings, so I hope in the future they would rectify this situation with their loyal or regular customers. read more

Service is ok but last two times I had issues with my meals. I ordered a chef salad, Turkey had bone in it. So swapped the food out for an open face sandwich on rye and I was given white. This last time I asked them to make a sub on a wrap and if they could cut the chicken because I couldn't chew big pieces she said they are too busy to do that. Servers were really friendly and checked up on us often. My only complaint is the charges for add-ons. I ordered the breakfast combo (2 eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns and a short stack of pancakes). I decided I wanted them with chocolate chips and bananas which ended up being $2/add-on. If I had known this, I probably would've settled with plain pancakes since this ended up being almost half the price of the meal itself. Not very worth. What a hidden gem right outside of Atlantic City! I was visiting for the AC iron man and got a craving for some solid diner food to help with some pre-race carb loading and found JJs on Yelp. I was not expecting to eat delicious breakfast foods in Pleasantville and was presently surprised! The Food: The Delilah: You can't go wrong with this dish. It's a little bit of everything and the French toast is to die for. My only issue with the dish was each of the foods seemed to be at various levels of heat- the French toast was colder while the breakfast potatoes were extremely hot. Of course it didn't matter since I basically inhaled the whole dish in about five minutes. Red Velvet Waffles: This was on special for the day and it was sooo good, the cream cheese sauce on top was exactly reminiscent of a cream cheese frosting on a red velvet cupcake. Pancakes: So light and fluffy. You won't go wrong with these. This place is great! The prices are extremely reasonable and the service is exceptional. My coworker and I went to JJs yesterday for lunch at 1:00pm we walked in 1:30 pm sitting there no one came over and took our drink orders (soda) our so called waitress walked by us multiple times and all the waitresses at the counter glanced at us no acknowledgement. We only get one hour lunch so we continued to sit and wait and wait and wait after half hour we realized no one was paying attention and we was both looking at the waitresses behind the counter who was just standing there and our so called waitress walking back and forth by us. I know it may not be no big deal to some but when you only have an hour lunch we want to take our time and not just ram our food down our throat. JJs does have great food we was set on what we wanted but to wait half an hour to get acknowledged was very ignorant on the part of the hostess down to the waitress who stood there and looked at us. My coworker said to the hostess we have to go we only have an hour and its already been thirty minutes, all she said is im sorry instead of trying to make it right.
