Stopped over for some "brekkie" with my sis the other day an as usual we left pleasantly satiated. After I ordered I changed my order to almost exactly the same thing that she ordered (except for the toast; she wasn't happy! Our breakfast order consisted of three poached eggs, corned beef hash, and grits. I also ate my eggs the same way she did: dipping bits of toast in the cup holding the eggs, (she was upset with me). The eggs were perfectly poached and you could tell that the corned beef hash was homemade by an expert; simply delicious. The grits are perfectly cooked , I would come in just for a bowl of their creamy goodness. Although I am a "Northerner" I consider myself a "grit connoisseur" seeking out great grits everywhere. Service was very attentive, filling coffee cups frequently and checking on our needs during our repast. I forgot to take a picture of my dish and didn't remember until I tried to take a pic of sister's remaining food (she was not cooperative). JJ's is consistantly good and I am becoming a "frequent diner". read more

Moving away from NJ decades ago I have always missed diners. On our Recent trip to Atlantic City on our way to the airport I wanted to stop and eat at a diner for old times sake. We were greeted with a warm smile and seated immediately. Our server was very nice. My hubby got a mozzarella, mushroom and sausage omelette with delicious hash browns and bacon. I had Two fried eggs and turkey bacon. Everything was delish. It was just nice to see how everyone who worked there interacted with people like everyone was family. read more

Had breakfast while visiting the Shore. Overall this is an above average diner. It was very clean and the staff was very friendly / attentive. Had standard breakfast fare such as eggs, scrapple (cooked perfectly), hash, etc. Everything was tasty. One nice thing was the waitress asked if we wanted the break buttered or not. I hate it when I get the soaking butter bread at diners after forgetting to ask them to bring it on the side. That was nice and she also kept our coffee hot and full. Would make this my first choice of diners in the area for sure. read more

Found this little NJ diner off a tip from a brother "Yelper" and I glad we stopped in for a bite. 5 minutes off exit 5 of the AC expressway and definitely worth the trip whether you're going to or from AC. Our meal was breakfast but the lunch menu looked just as inviting. Very clean with plenty of parking and the service came with a big smile and everything we ordered arrived to our table just as we requested it. They even have two nice size TV's to make you feel right at home. Come you will not be disappointed. read more

Went again and this time had the chicken and waffles! YES! It is as good as they say it is. Chicken was moist and crispy, the waffle was delicious and my goodness the gravy they put on top is just amazing!! The people are so friendly; especially the owner. I don't usually leave reviews, but I had to for this place. We went to JJ's for breakfast on vacation and came back every day afterward. The food was good, but the service was impeccable - honestly the best service we've EVER experienced. Honestly, if I could rate the service higher I would. The server we had the first day stopped by to say hi to us the other two days we were there, and she helped us with dinner recommendations. Cannot recommend a stop here enough. read more

THIS PLACE IS AWESOME! And it lived up to every bit of our high exceptions after reading these reviews. My biscuits and gravy were delicious. Loaded with sausage chunks, great rich flavor, not too salty, and surprisingly not too filling. My dad's chicken and waffles plate insane huge. The chicken was super tasty and the maple glaze was perfect. The corned beef hash was also really good. However, the absolute best part of JJ's.... the people! Our server was sooo helpful and out of her way friendly. Even the owner/manager(?) came over to chat and make sure everyone was fully satisfied. JJ's is certainly a must try! read more

A quaint little diner, can get pretty busy but definitely worth the wait. There is a counter as well as two & four person tables. Offer daily specials, my boyfriend tried the Chicken & Waffles. I had an omelette which was excellent. You have the choice of hash browns or grits & toast with any egg dish. You can get an english muffin or bagel for $1 extra, which is pretty awesome. This place is a cute little diner. We looked on Yelp and found this place. We were greeted by the owner and he was very sweet and welcoming man. I got the sausage and veggie omelette with rye bread and it was pretty good! We shared the Red Velvet Waffled with strawberries and bananas which was also pretty good. Coffee was fresh and good as well. The service was really fast as well. We did by accident overstay our welcome and the people there kinda hinted us to leave. The owner is a great guy. He goes out of his way to talk to his customers and make you feel at home. The food was great and very reasonably priced. The corned beef has is made with real corned beef (not canned) and not too salty. The chipped beef was very tasty and plentiful. Although the place was packed, the food came our quickly and the service was spot on. Will definitely return! read more

This is my favorite breakfast place you guys! Where else can you get homemade corned beef hash and grits like your mama used to cook? Here guys just come here. The food is delicious I cannot say that enough, I have not tried lunch yet but that is my next things to do on my list. Today I had two eggs over easy, sausage patties, grits, toast and I had to have a side of her that homemade corned beef hash. If I had to complain about the place, my complaint would be that the building is not big enough. A lot of people come and go and it's a little crowded. You come on the right day and you might stand in line, but it is totally worth it because when the line gets long the owner comes out with free food and drinks. read more

Believe the reviews!! Best breakfast ever. See my photos. First time here. Staff attitude, 5 Stars. The true test is during a busy time. Sunday late morning is always a crazy time anywhere. Attention people!!! If you go to AC for a couple of days, wondering what or where should you get for Breakfast, if you're not in to those super expensive Buffets which by the way are horrendous. Then you should definitely try this little place. I have been in the food industry for 15 years. I have to say, the customer service in this place is one of the best I've ever experienced. And the food is pretty good. I went there on a Saturday, they have this chicken and waffle plate... Omg!!! Amazing its a must if you're down there. It's got 5 Stars for a reason folks!! Great service, super friendly, owner greets and talks to all guests. Just like eating at your own house. Super great tasting meals. Go on Sunday and get the Maple gravy Chicken n' waffle, and save room for the BEST biscuits and abundant real chunky sausage gravy. Absolutely the best in all the places we've visited! read more

Went to Easter breakfast, ordered chicken and waffles didn't realize it was smothered in gray. After the food arrived on the table I explained to the waitress that I didn't know it came with gray on top. I asked if I could get it without the gray she said yes but I would have to pay for that and pay for the new one as well.. asked for the manager and she explained the same thing that I would have to pay for both. After arguing for about 20 minutes they finally reluctantly gave me a new chicken and waffles... and continue to be rude during the rest of our stay... would not recommend. read more

Stopped in for brunch while visiting AC on a Saturday. The place was super crowded and tables are very cramped, but food was good. We had a cheese omelette, home fries, French toast, and chicken tenders. Everything was so delicious and very cheap- our bill was only $20. The only thing we wished was better was the service, our waitress kept forgetting to bring items to our table. Other than that, we would definitely recommend! read more

My husband and I had a great breakfast here this Sunday. We were coming back from AC and read about this place online so figured we would give it a try. We were impressed from the get go! When we're arrived there was a short wait. We expected to wait patiently on the lil waiting area until a table was ready. Without asking, the hostess apologized and brought coffee over to us to enjoy while we waited! Talk about service! We were sat down soon thereafter. Food was delicious and the service was great. All I can say is wow!!! Work in the area in a regular basis and we're always left with the same choices. Decide to hit yelp one more time to see if there's anything new and stumbled upon this gem. Stop thinking about it and go. It's a local place, one of the hole in the wall places that make it worth the stop. Food was made from scratch and owner was there touching tables and talking to everyone. I went hoping for the chicken and waffles but that's a Sunday only thing. DELICIOUS! SCRUMPTIOUS! PERFECT! We were in the area to pick up a friend who had flown in to the Atlantic City airport, and looking for a place to grab a bite for lunch and stumbled upon this gem and are so happy we did. The service was excellent, the owner was both friendly AND entertaining, and the food was DELECTABLE! I cannot recommend this diner highly enough. If you miss the opportunity to dine here, you will miss out on a GREAT meal. All four of us chose completely different options -- I ordered one of the Daily Specials - Red Velvet Belgian Waffle topped with fresh fruit (yummmmmm), and my friends had Chicken Pesto, Turkey Burger, and an omelette. I found this cozy diner on my way to Atlantic city. It was very early and i was surprised it was opened. A young short dark hair waitress rushed right away to me and greeted me with a bright smile:) I ordered coffee and right away she was on it.. it was the best coffee i have ever had! I happen to see they had a coffee grinder which was a plus for me!! I wasn't sure what to order, so i asked the waitress what she suggest, she recommended the early bird specials which includes my coffee. I ordered the western omelette. It was so delicious. Very nice size with fresh home fries and my toast was perfectly buttered. And with such a great server that made me feel so welcome as well as the other customers she knew by their names was another plus to me. The prices was unbeatable! She then greeted me again with a "Have a wonderful day, hope to see you again!" A week later i came back on the weekend and brought my family this time around.. The food again was awesome and the owner came and greeted us at the table.. but i was saddened not to see that bright smile waitress.. the one we had was not as friendly or prompt with our order. She did not check on us and was too busy talking to the other customers that she forgot about us. We had to ask another waitress to get our bill. 5 stars? Really? Set the thermostat the same every day instead of on who's going thru chills or hot flashes! Geez..... someone please tell the owner no one wants the generic chat along with the nasty handshake 3 min before I stuff toast into my mouth with my bare hands. Sometimes the greatest gifts come in the most unassuming packaging. This joint may appear like your typical road-side stop, but it is a cut above. Not only are chicken and waffles on the menu, but they are excellent chicken and waffles. Special orders are taken without a quip or a query; care is put into the cooking; and the customer service is outstanding. In fact, JJ, or just Jay, himself introduced himself to us, himself. An outstanding man, really, with a firm but inviting handshake grip that makes you feel safe, but also let's you know that you've got some growing to do before you're a hunk like Jay! To top it all off, he gave my buddy a free cup of coffee for the road. Granted, my pal is a nice cut o' meat and hard to say 'no' to, but this level of customer care is something pretty unusual. And after a long night of lookin' at folks in face bandages while losing your rent money to a remorseless black jack dealer, a warm 'hello' from a welcoming beefcake and some top-drawer biscuits n gravy are just what the doctor (and I mean Dr. Grungus here, of course) ordered! I tried out this diner on a Sunday afternoon with some friends. Little did I know, they serve an exclusive chicken and waffles meal only on Sundays. So, of course, I had to try this item. Actually, lots of items on their menu looked great. Besides the chicken and waffles meal, I also ordered the eye opener combo meal. My girlfriend had their spinach and feta omelet and a side order of bacon. Hands down the best item from all this was the chicken and waffles meal. The chicken was nice and crispy, and the waffle was perfectly cooked. This meal was delicious. And that gravy poured on top was awesome as well. The eye opener meal was good too. The corned beef hash was the best part of the dish. The eggs and home fries were a nice touch. Their bacon was nice and crispy, too, which is the way I like my bacon. My girlfriend enjoyed the omelet she tried. I didn't try that, but she said it was very good. Overall, this diner was really good and amazing. Highly recommend! The food at JJ's is great. The waitress was great as well. The owner. The dude is a fucking creep. He would've happily blown me just to give him a yelp review but I would rather head ten minutes down the road to AC and pay for that. This man sat down with my friends and I and ate some weird pudding while staring at my plate. He then shook my hand and proceeded to have a 5 minute conversation ten inches from my face about what I'll do in life. I do know now that I won't be a fucking weirdo like JJ. Then this guy tells me he's the only 5 star diner in America. Now clearly I don't spend as much time on yelp as him but a fucking grip my man. Your place is a diner the size of my bathroom. Customer service is different than trying to be a life coach. This dude gives you the most generic bull shit answer to everything you say. Wow. JJ is a huge douche bag. I hear about this place from a friend of mine. My husband and I were looking for somewhere to get breakfast, but didn't want to go to the usual well known places. Well we gave it a go and here we are months later and LOVE IT! The food is fresh and most importantly DELICIOUS! I bring my family almost every Saturday. They order different things and it all take great. My personal favorite is"The Delilah", but you also cannot leave without trying their French Toast, one word " WOW"! Best French toast I have ever had. If your near the area and you need to fuel up, this is the one place to stop, you won't regret it Great food for a good price and the staff is outstanding. Hungover, broke from a major loss at the Tropicana blackjack tables, and in major need of some edible TLC, I opened up my Maps and googled "diner" with the intention of reading some reviews in order to decide on a place to eat. JJ's had 5 stars and 178 reviews, but it was 7-miles-and-an-AC-expressway-toll away. Regardless, I made the drive and paid the 75 cents in the opposite direction from where I was headed, and had some of the best food with the best server-customer dynamic in my 22 years on this green earth. We stopped in finally after many trips to Atlantic City from Chesapeake VA; and can't figure out why we had never stopped before!!! From the second you walk in and the owner Jay cracks a few jokes, to you try to get up from your seat to pay your tab with a full belly, this place is a hidden gem!! Great place except for the sexist hostess with his dirty jokes about women. I think he said he was the owner and his name was J. While talking to other people that go there a lot they said he wasn't the owner that two brothers named John & Jim do and that J has no ownership at all. A board announcing pie and pudding as if they were breaking news. Booths to the left. Counter seating for those who wish to face their breakfast directly. A dining room to the right for people who prefer a little distance from their eggs. My wife ordered eggs over easy with corned beef hash. I chose cream chipped beef over toast, a dish that has survived longer than many empires for reasons that become clear when you eat it. Both came with home fries and coffee. Everything tasted exactly as it should. The eggs behaved. The hash was honest. The chipped beef was comforting in the way only something slightly excessive can be. The coffee kept coming. The service was attentive and friendly without hovering like guilty conscience. We paid thirty five dollars with tip, which in this era feels almost like a mathematical error in our favor. Nothing here will astonish you. But it will feed you well, send you back out into the world a little steadier, and sometimes that is the highest calling a diner can have. Four stars feel right.
