The small tables are really too small, certainly for two people but also as a solo traveller I hate to be seated at one of these if multiple larger tables are available. We were going home after a 3 day trip to AC. Trying to find a diner in the area that was still open at 3 PM. We stopped in about an hour before they were closing on a Tuesday afternoon. They never rushed us, the servers were excellent, helping one another out. JJ himself came over to our table and introduced himself and to see how we were doing. The food (we wanted breakfast even at 3 PM) was perfect. Eggs done exactly as I requested, my husband's pancakes were perfect. Coffee was fresh. All in all we were pleasantly surprised. Jay walks around the diner and personally makes sure everyone is taken care of and more, entertained by him, and treated like family. He gave a table free deserts because they were just being nice to someone else. We came for their Chicken and Waffles. They thought they were out because we were there at 2 pm. Jay wanted to make sure we were taken care of and went back and made sure they had 1 more chicken and waffles. AMAZING CHICKEN AND WAFFLES. A must get. We were blown away by JJ's Diner. This is a place you MUST try. We have lived down here for a little over a year, and wish we would had tried it sooner! All the positive reviews here must be old..possibly the Worst restaurant experience I've probably ever had. Server who is apparently the owner was very cold and rude(to only us but not the regulars). Coffee was gross black water, serve yourself warm water in 60 year old plastic glasses. Food came quickly, because it all was apparently cooked yesterday. Not one item besides the eggs were fresh, hollandaise was runny liquid and ice cold . Asked for it to be fixed and they snatched the plate away and brought it back to the Kitchen where the cook(who is the son) said he isn't fixing it. We tell them we're leaving and going somewhere else and the son follows us to the parking lot and says you fatties don't need any bacon anyways. Great customer service. Will be reporting to public health as they obviously don't follow food safety guidelines as you can also see by their most recent inspection. Had lunch here twice and the reviews are all right on the mark. The place is cozy and real local. The staff are all wonderful and they treat you like family. The one issue I had was that it took awhile to get our check, because we were so busy, and the lady up front was overwhelmed with about 50 checks. I've had the special and the chili. The chili was great, if a little bland, but perfect on a winter day. The buffalo chicken wrap is great as is the tuna melt. Only open for breakfast and lunch. Such a cute little gem I found while searching en-route home from Ocean city at the end of our week long vacation. It is our tradition to stop by somewhere at a great spot to lift our sad spirits leaving our favorite shore vacation. Awesome breakfast stop in the Atlantic City area, it's worth the short ride for a solid breakfast if you're staying on the boardwalk. Also, there's a Wawa right nearby in case you need to stock up on supplies (water, Red Bull, snacks, etc.). We came here on a recommendation from our waiter, he said he had a great night with friends, they won some money in AC, and where did they go to celebrate and cap off the night?...JJ's. This place is a hidden gem in NJ. You are immediately greeted by the owner and there was no wait for a table. The restaurant was packed so the food must be great. I ordered the sausage, scrambled eggs and cheese on a English muffin with home fries. It was an enormous sandwich with 2 full sausage patties, 2 scrambled eggs and cheese in my sandwich. I could barely keep the sandwich together. Every time I took a bite, the stuff inside shifted and I had to fix my sandwich. It tasted great and didn't need any extra condiments. The service was excellent. The waitress was new but was very attentive and friendly. She got the order right so that's all that matters. There was no parking in front of the restaurant so you have to go around to the back to find something. It's a little hole in the wall type of place but worth trying if you ever go to Atlantic City. I rather eat at these places than the restaurants on the strip. They're usually overpriced and not that tasty in my opinion.
