Never been to JJ's before. I was interested in JJ's because of their reputation and shuttle service (JJ's is not far from my work). I needed an oil change and tire rotation so I had one scheduled. They got me in within the week. Great. I was "shuttled" to work in my own car. That was odd. What do they do if my car wasn't able to drive? Never mind that for now.
Oil changed, tires rotated for about $50. Fair price. This is where things start to go very wrong.
Not more than 2 days after this oil change my engine starts to shake. Literally shaking. Car stutters while idle in low RPMs. It's clearly an engine problem. No check engine light so I give it some time. I decided I need to have JJ's take a look.
Bring car back to JJ's. Once again, they drop me off at work in my own car. Still seems cheap but not really a concern.
They keep my car for a day. Run a bunch of tests. They make a diagnosis, order a part, install it, and $375 later my car is ready for pickup. They assure me the problem is fixed and even give money back guarantee. I drive home, I park my car and the engine is shaking. Worse. My car is in worse condition than when I dropped it off. Very frustrating.
Tomorrow morning I am up early to get my car back to JJs. AGAIN. To talk about why my car is still having symptoms. I turn on the car and the check engine light starts flashing. My car is unsafe and unfit to drive.
At this point, I am done with JJ's. I call a tow and get my car to another mechanic shop in Neenah. I call JJ's and talk a representative. I calmly explain my circumstances and remind him of his "We fixed it and if it's still broken, it's free" statements. The representative apologized and agreed to refund me my money. That is good customer service. Terrible work on a vehicle, but they are owning up to their mistake.
I offer to contact JJ's once my car was fixed so they can discuss it with their mechanics. We live, we learn, we all move on.
I get a later that day from JJ's and they are trying to muscle me out of a refund. These guys give auto places a bad reputation. Are they stripping my car for parts? Are they quoting me bogus repairs/fixes? Are they creating problems in my engine so I have to come back for more service? Honestly, I can't say. I'm not a mechanic.
