She's an excellent seamstress. That's something that's not that easy to find these days, or if you do, you'll pay an arm and a leg for it. Not here. Here, prices are cheap and she does great work. The dry cleaning is a little sketchy sometimes, because like most places, they don't do it in house. They use a third party that isn't always the fastest. If you need something by a certain day, I wouldn't procrastinate. Give yourself plenty of time. read more

I paid for the waist and sides of my really oversized pants for 28$! Not a bad price. They were nicely folded and probably ironed ( ) and were in perfect condition. She's very experienced and meticulous due to the symmetry and spacing between stitches. I'll be back again, definitely. P.s. The first review states "cash only", but I was able to pay with credit card during my visit last fall. I needed a strapless bridesmaid dress adjusted, and she did an excellent job of fitting it just perfect so I wouldn't be self-conscious about the dress slipping down. I also had it shortened into a cute black dress after the wedding. And this is a VERY reasonably priced place to have your wedding gown cleaned and boxed. I gave 4 out of 5 stars only because you have to keep tabs on her. She always says she'll "call when its ready", but I always ended up calling her. Totally reliable and good work. read more

It helps that it is tucked away in the confines of a quiet little southwest side neighborhood, definitely a hidden gem. Because of this reclusive location, the business is a solid performer for the locals in the area allowing it to succeed for what I'm guessing many years, yet still doesn't become overwhelmed with so much work that it cannot meet deadlines or make exceptions for quick turnaround times. I have brought in stuff to get cleaned in the morning and she (I do not know the owner's name) has been able to have it back to my by the afternoon before she closes at 6pm. I have had alterations for suit pants and suit sleeves and have them be ready the next day. I have had zero defects or issues with the general dry cleaning. I highly recommend it if you're in the area or if this is a convenient location for you. A plus is that it very close to the Midway Orange Line stop and Midway airport. So if you're a traveler in town for a few days and need some emergency work done, you might want to give this place a try. read more

Don't come here!! The workers don't care and give you major attitude, worst customer service for a cleaners ive ever had. I had an issue w an alteration they did, one sleeve was longer than the other of a suit jacket, and they denied any defects even after measured then yelled at me for "not telling them in the beginning i had one arm longer than the other". I have been coming to Wrobel Cleaner for 8 years now and have always been impressed with the owner's service and prices. I often go to Wrobel Cleaners for alterations/hemming on my clothes. As a 5'00 tall female, I don't exactly fit in all petite clothes or regular female clothes. I've never had a single bill that I thought was outrageously priced. A pants hem will run you $10, all other prices on my hemming needs have been equally comparable. I actually got my prom dresses hemmed from the owner for $50 each. This is extremely reasonable seeing as the owner needed to navigate through and hem several layers of fabric and tool. Additionally, she fixed some beading and ripped tool on one of the dresses free of charge. (I bought my dress at peaches 80% off sale and went here to get it hemmed and fixed up). She did a marvelous job on it and I looked great for prom! I would trust her with any other wedding/prom dress alterations. One time in 8 years she hemmed my pants improperly, she fixed the mistake free of charge and got my items back to me in a day or two. The owner is so good at meeting my needs for a reasonable price that I will continuously go back! She does a wonderful job! I'm a loyal customer of 8 years and I'll keep coming back forever! I took my bridal gown to Wrobel last Tuesday 6/29. I purchased my dress from a sample store, so the bottom of the dress was slightly dirty from touching the floor. My dress is silk taffeta and my first question was if they could even clean that type of material. Harriet, the owner of the business sends the gowns out to Garden Cleaners on 95th street in Evergreen Park. She assured me that they could clean it and even showed me a gown that just came back from Garden Cleaners, saying the dress was nearly black on the bottom from being dragged. Therefore, I let her take my dress to be cleaned. She took my dress and left it on the counter. I pass by this dry cleaner everyday on my way to work. At 12pm the next day, my dress was balled up on the counter in the same spot where it was the day before. That should have been my red flag there about the carelessness of this place. I picked up my dress today 7/10 and Harriet told me the train was still dirty and that Garden Cleaners could not get all the dirt from the bottom of the dress. I understood that they could not get it all out but being that she assured me there have been dresses far dirtier than mine that were cleaned, I was disappointed. Don't promise a customer an item can be cleaned if you do not know. I got home and looked at the dress more closely coming to realize there were two HOLES at the bottom of my dress! It looked like they rubbed too hard and made holes! I immediately called Harriet and shared this, and she actually started yelling at me saying the holes were already there! I inspected this entire dress and even took pictures before I gave it to her. My seamstress also cut two inches off the bottom because it was too long. You're telling me the seamstress would cut all around the bottom of the dress and not cut past the holes?! Harriet was completely rude and said its my fault for buying from a sample store and I should expect it to have imperfections. Yes, sure but not if those imperfections were not there until after I got the dress back from her. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! DAMAGED MY WEDDING DRESS! Do not bring any clothing of value! They are cheap, but it is for a reason. Take your items elsewhere. I'm sure you will get better service and your items will not be ruined. Also, regarding the dirt on the dress, my aunt was able to take a damp cloth and Clorox fresh care stain remover from the dryell cleaning kit and remove all the dirt the professional cleaners couldn't, and that only cost $5.99 compared to the $95 I paid at Wrobel. This tells me that it was basically laziness and a lack of effort on their part HORRIBLE! read more

I had "the crisis".. My bridesmaids dress for my best friends wedding would not fit, not even close. So in a panic I came here and the lady who attended me knew the wedding was less than a week away and in that short time frame was able to not only magically enhance the dress(2-3 inches), replace the zipper take it in from the bottom, press it and schedule 2 fittings so that it was absolutely perfect with enough wiggle room to dance at the reception. I now take all my clothes to her and will faithfully do so.. Oh and did I mention all that was less that $50 read more

Harriet at Wrobel Cleaners saved me from possibly not being able to stand in as a bridesmaid in a recent wedding! Unfortunately, since the bride and rest of the bridesmaids were in New York I was not able to get sized at the boutique where the dresses were ordered. I only had the size chart and a picture of the dress to go by when ordering the dress via email/phone. It was dumb of me to assume I was a size 6 and not order a bigger size to be safe. I have since learned that bridesmaid's dresses run on the smaller side. But, the style of the dress was not very fitted so I assumed I would not have a problem considering I wear a 4 or 6- clearly I was wrong! I received the dress in mid March (wedding was May 17th) and once again assumed it would fit and I would only need the length shortened since it was a long gown. So, thinking this, I waited till 3 weeks before the wedding to try it on... and to my shock and utter despair... The dress would NOT zipper!! The dress was chiffon with a very tight waist. The zipper was on the left side and I had about 3 inches of space where it would not close :(. As mentioned, I am normally a size 4 or 6 in dresses, but I was devastated and so upset for not ordering a bigger size and for not trying it on back in March. I am pretty physically active, but I knew that no amount of exercise or diet could alter my rib cage, which is where the dress zippered. I freaked out! I looked into buying a new dress altogether, but there was no way any store could have it arrive in 2-3 weeks. I was so stressed and definitely did not want to stress out the bride by letting her know that she might be a bridesmaid short. I thought my only option was to get this dress let out or made bigger somehow. I looked on yelp and tried to find places, but I wanted to make sure I went to someone who had experience in gowns. I reached out to a few friends for any referrals. One of my friends recommended Wrobel, a local tailor in her neighborhood. She said she took all her dresses there and Harriet always did a great job. I read a review where someone mentioned they had the same crisis as me with a dress being too small, but Harriet was able to let it out and it fit. It was the first glimmer of hope I had in this ordeal. Although the location was not close to my home, I went there because I had faith she could help me. Once there, I explained the problem and she told me to try on the dress so she could see what she could do. She explained that the material is pretty tricky so if she couldn't let it out she probably would not be able to add material to make it bigger. She told me to come back next Monday and we would see what she was able to do. I didn't hear from her all week so I just assumed she was able to let it out. After a stressful week of waiting, I went back to see her. I tried on the dress and for the first time I felt the zippers actually connect!! I was so happy!! She was able to get zipped up, but told me it was still a bit snug so she would be letting out a little bit more. She was also going to alter the straps since they were now a bit loose because the dress was widened in the waist. I also brought heels so she could see how much to take from the bottom. I was told the dress would be ready the next Monday. I came back on Tuesday and was so happy that the dress was completed and fit! She even added a quarter of an inch of material on the waist just to make it more comfortable. What she was able to do with this dress was amazing! She is a seamstress superstar!! I definitely recommend her services to anyone who needs something tailored and specifically to someone who finds themselves in this predicament! She was professional, honest, and for all the work she did- I was only charged $75. I have learned my lesson on the way sizes work with these bridesmaid dresses, but should I need to tailor anything I now have my go to place!! read more

Back in the day I could count on this place for quality work and service. I begged for them to have my dry cleaning and alterations ready and pressed for an interview I had. I knew that I would not have any time to iron or for mishaps as they wouldn't have my clothes until the night before my morning interview. My plan was to pick up the clothes all cleaned, pressed and altered and get home and focus on preparing for the interview. Anyone that knows what it's like to interview in corporate america, you need to be very prepared and do your due diligence the night before. I pick up the clothes and half are not pressed and may not even be cleaned. GREAT! THANKS FOR NOTHING! Now I have to press my clothes despite the fact that I just paid them an arm and a leg!!!!! for what???? I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE. I took my daughter's wedding gown in to have it cleaned and heirloomed. The dress was very soiled at the hem from spilled champagne. I didn't think it could be saved.
