For instance, advised that my daughter was shy when the kid hesitated to order one day, the barista brightened up even more and put the girl at ease. Whether their coffee is good or not is completely subjective. I think it's good overall, but it might not be my first choice in town. But it's made with care, and as mentioned, roasted in house. Its popularity speaks to its quality. They also have a very good selection of pastries and other goodies to accompany your coffee, including a Mobile institution--cheesecake from a local company called Cotton Blues. The only gripe I have about Carpe Diem is their seating setup. There simply isn't enough of it. That said, I don't know how they could use the space more efficiently, since the cafe is small as it is. I prefer more private seating, which in other coffee houses I've been to has been accomplished with the judicious use of plants or high-backed chairs. The biggest component of the crowded seating is due to students from Springhill College across the street. Today, for instance, my husband and I were unable to find any seating at all. Even on the days when we can find seating, being entirely surrounded by people working quietly on their laptops feels awkward and lends a library-like feel to the atmosphere. It feels rude to have a conversation at a regular level. I feel like I'm intruding. I don't know how a coffee shop should handle this conundrum, as it's really not good business practice to limit customers' time while there, or to turn away clientele, even in an attempt to please all of their customers. There is already a back room which seems to be an unofficial space dedicated to students, but the overflow still takes up much of the cafe. That said, I enjoy Carpe Diem and going there is a nice little treat. I would definitely recommend it.

That was good had to substitute the pineapple in the original smoothie for bananas because they were out. Still tasted really good. My husband also got a cinnamon roll. Unfortunately the cinnamon roll was not great. It was hard as a rock. They didn't even warm it up the frosting that went with the cinnamon roll was fairly good but couldn't get over eating a rock.

When I went the place was full of customers. The line wasn't that long though. I was going to get a take out order but there was still seating if I wanted to stay. I decided to get the brownie crepe. I found a seat to wait on my order. One thing I noticed, they are serious about making sure the customer knows what's in the food. They called my order before it was ready to make sure I didn't have any allergies to the food. My order didn't take long to be made. I got home and opened the brownie crepe. It looked like a work of art. When I took my first bite, I instantly realized it was the best crepe I'd tasted. I was blown away by how delicious it was. I've already told other people this crepe and Melt n Drizzle.

They offer dozens of specialty shakes and teas and they even offer a kids menu. With so many options, It was so hard for me to choose. I decided to try the cotton candy tea. The taste wasn't what I was expecting but it was still good. The size of the tea was a plus. The staff was patient and friendly. I can't wait to visit again to try a shake. The front of the establishment doesn't stand out overly much, so we almost walked right by it. When you enter the building you walk straight back (through the entry that says this way to beignets!) and can order at the counter. The beignets were made fresh to order and covered in a mountain of powdered sugar. The latte was smooth and not too sweet. We got one order of 8 count mini beignets and two 16oz iced beignet lattes for $20.
