Delicious food at a fair price! I came here for takeout and got lost trying to find the place. Just like other reviewers have mentioned, the address isn't quite right. Definitely call this place if you've never been there before. I ordered pork fried rice, potstickers, and home style bean curd (tofu). Everything was very delicious. The potstickers have a thicker wrapper than others, and I prefer thinner wrappers, BUT the sauce they came with was SO delicious that I would still order them over other restaurants' versions. I was able to get four very filling meals out of this purchase (I didn't even eat the white rice) -- amazing value! I came here on my lazy day to order food for lunch. They serve a special lunch menu for $3.95. I ordered beef and broccoli and my daughter had orange chicken. Beef is not tender, broccoli seems like it was frozen. I love the fry rice, it's very tasty. The orange chicken is delicious. The food tastes like it was cooked, frozen, then cooked again. I don't know if the beef is really beef because it doesn't taste or have the same texture as beef. Wouldn't recommend getting anything with beef. The store is average for a Chinese takeout restaurant. There are about 5 tables. The food was mediocre and good for its price. I would come back for the orange chicken . read more

I have never seen a bigger bowl of fried rice in my life. I ordered the large pork fried rice for less than $7, and I spent two days trying to eat it and never finished! I also purchased their sesame chicken combination lunch special (entree, plain fried rice, and an egg roll.). I'm afraid to say the sesame chicken was sub-par. It was drowning in a very salty sauce, and was just too strong. Combination plate tip: if you say "no egg roll" you get two servings of fried rice instead of one! I self-identify as an egg foo young snob, and Jin's impressed me! We also had the General Tso's, Thai basil chicken, Kung Pao beef, and beef fried rice. The General Tso's was lightly breaded with a perfectly sweet/tangy sticky sauce. It rivals our favorite Chicago version. The Thai basil chicken had that sweetness I love with LOTS of Thai basil. Perfection! The Kung Pao beef was so tender and flavorful. It tasted like a good quality beef, not a cheap sandwich steak like some restaurants use. We didn't LOVE the fried rice, but we also don't usually eat it. There was nothing wrong it it, it just wasn't for us. It didn't taste bad or old or anything. Just not our tastes. Excellent overall! The address listed doesn't seem to be correct. It took me a few turn arounds to find which strip it was in. Fyi, it's in the left one next to the nails place just west of Pleasant Hill rd. Other than that hiccup, lunch specials range from 3.75 to 5.75, for a selection plus an eggroll and rice. Very nice pricing for the quality of food. The veggie egg roll is delicious and I am pretty picky about fried rice but this was pretty good. The sesame chicken lunch special came with a ton of chicken and it was tasty with a sauce a bit sweeter than I've had before but still very good. Since it's just down the street from my work, it's perfect for lunch break and I was surprised how quickly the food came out even though I didn't call ahead to order. I just ordered lunch from this place and the guy at the counter suggested I give a tip for a pickup. I politely declined his suggestion and went home with the food. The food was average and not really that good. That wasn't the problem. The problem was that that guy straight up took a 20% tip from me. I happened to check my credit card transactions after lunch and saw that the $13.12 bill was with a pending charge for $15.74. I did some calculations and that was exactly 20% rounded down from $15,744. Don't trust this place. They stole money from me and they are likely doing that with others as well. read more

This tiny little restaurant is quality. Huge portions and great, kind staff. The people here work hard and make good food. There is a wide variety on the menu and I've had good luck testing out their different dishes. I've noticed a few things change this year. Mainly for the better as the quality has remained high. -They used to have these plastic circular containers which I reuse for family party leftovers. Earlier this year they switched to a rectangular style. They are a bit more flimsy but still reusable. - the shrimp and lobster now has crab meat and larger shrimp. - vegetables tend to change with what's in season. I call this one a plus. It's better to have what's currently good rather than be forced to use what's out of season, or skip something entirely. One of the pros to this place is that you can pick a favorite dish and get a smaller 2nd dish to try out. The prices are good and you get a lot of food for it. Cons I wasn't a fan of their scallops. Some stuff can also leave you feeling like you've had a lot of salt. Overall, if you enjoy Chinese food, this is a must visit. It has great comfort food and the same people are always there. They get their food out quickly and it's a safe bet. read more

I have been going to jins's for 21 years and have been enjoying a great menu and OUTSTANDING FOOD.... To my Dismay new owners took over and disappointing would be a compliment as apposed to inedible. Ordered simple pork fried rice ,, It was full of large chopped onions almost raw and no vegetables at all no peas no carrots no sprouts barely an egg and minimal pork ... Had Jin's for the first time today and absolutely enjoyed the food. The curry chicken had loads of fresh veggies and chicken with just the right amount of sauce. The sweet and sour chicken had the s&s on the side ( thumbs up to that!) and the chicken was lightly battered and delicious. But I think hands down the crab Rangoon was the BEST my family and I have ever tasted!! The restaurant was clean and orderly and service superb. Jin's China is a take-out Chinese restaurant that is faster than Usain Bolt. Your order will be ready in 15 minutes, I guarantee it. I have never once arrived and had to wait for my order. Most of the time it's ready in 10 minutes, and the quality does not suffer one bit. It's located in a small strip mall on Geneva and Pleasant Hill. This isn't a sit-down restaurant, it's pretty much strictly take-out. (They do have two tables and a few chairs if you're really in a hurry though). I try different menu items but my stalwart was the Beef & Broccoli until I tried the Sesame Chicken. I don't generally like the Sesame Chicken at other restaurants but, for whatever reason, Jin's Chicken hits the spot. It's got great flavor and the sesame seeds aren't doused all over the dish -- it's just the right amount. The ingredients are fresh and all of the meats are high-quality. There's no fatty or throwaway pieces of meat, chicken or pork in any of the orders. For most dishes, they have regular and large sizes. The regular size is your typical white, cardboard box. The large one fills a sizeable plastic tuperware-like container that will keep even the most ravenous busy. Each main dish order comes with a regular size white rice but I would recommend supplementing that with one of their fried rice options. The shrimp fried rice comes with large shrimp, none of that dinky, Spongebob stuff. But all of their fried rice options are quite good. If you're in need of a staple Chinese take-out place, with consistently great food quickly, this is your spot. Expect to devour this food as quickly as it took to pick up. read more

After 4 years of living in Geneva finding 0 good Chinese food options in the local radius we finally found one and now....we are moving out of the local area...of course. Food - Pot Stickers were awesome and made onsite. Fried is the only way they are offered on the menu. Meat is encased in a thicker doughy pouch than say the paper thin wraps they use at every other restaurant out there offering reheated frozen pot stickers. These will take about 20 minutes so be prepared if you walk in to sit down and eat that these will most likely be dessert instead of an appetizer. Egg Drop Soup - Exactly how I like it. Not dressed up. Tons of flavor. $1.50 for a small bowl and the bowl is not small! Great value. Chicken Fried Rice - Best I have ever had. Fresh ingredients. $4.50 for a small and again its not exactly a small portion. Atmosphere - Strip mall, hole in the wall, beehive of carry out activity during dinner time. Make sure you are listening for the last four digits of your phone number and your name or you'll miss your food coming out. Tables and chairs are available if you choose to eat in. Been coming to this establishment since 1995 and thought the place was excellent up until now. Just read the recent reviews and they confirmed why my last order from here on 10-21-2019 will be my last...THE PLACE IS UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT. The fried rice tastes just like cardboard,the egg rolls tastes terrible. Not to leave out that the soy sauce and hot mustard sauce taste terrible. The food taste went down hill. Yes it's fast, but it is good, which is a hard combination to find. This place is the best fast food Chinese restaurant I will ever go to. I remember every time I came back from IU, my dad would ask what I wanted to eat. I would need three Chicagoland foods: Jin's China, Portillo's, and Lou Malnati's. The first meal was always Jin's. Went to the brick-and-mortar recently on a whim as we were hungry and had a hankering for Chinese food. It seemed that Yelp recommended this place based on the reviews and we were in the area so we decided to stop in. We were met kind of funkily by the kid in the front who was asking us if we were doing take out and had an order already placed. It was just weird that we weren't welcomed to come in and sit down, initially. The place is designed more for takeout but there is seating inside. The atmosphere is quite Stark and Spartan with bright fluorescent lighting and really not conducive for any kind of intimate dinner experience. There's a lot of walk-up traffic to the counter which interrupts your dining so you're better off probably doing takeout... they do not do delivery. They also do not take American Express. The food in my opinion, was pedestrian. The portions were indeed generous and for that I may go back if I have an empty stomach. But for the palatable experience that I was looking for in this Chinese food, it did not fulfill that. read more

Been going here for years - as of 5/2019 the original owners sold out. The geeky kid is gone and the three amigos at the woks are gone. Orange chicken was dry and crunchy. Fried rice peas were hard and rice not cook through. Tried it for a couple of times and they do not have the recipes correct. Almost forgot they changed the egg rolls to some cheaper kind and the food is not hot like before. Sad to say. read more

Finally found a decent Chinese restaurant in this area. Very nice congenial staff. Possibly the best Lo Mein I have ever had, and I have had a LOT of Lo Mein. Yummy goodness in just a matter of minutes: 10 - 15 to be exact; dependent upon what time of day it is. It's good food - your usual "American Chinese." All I know is that it's the best Sweet and Sour Chicken I've ever had (even cold - which is very important). I also like their Sesame Chicken as well. Update 5/29: We were eating out Chinese leftovers and my wife, a vegetarian, found shrimp in her veggie egg rolls. They told us they were vegetarian egg rolls. It wasn't anything we got upset about, so I'm not changing my rating, just something for all you veggies to be aware of. This little hole-in-the-wall restaurant makes good, hearty Chinese food. Nothing really stood out, in my mind. We ordered the fried rice & broccoli w/ garlic. Both very good. The broccoli and garlic wasn't as spicy as some other Chinese restaurants I've been to. But that's not a deal breaker in my mind. We did have to wait a while for our order. But it was also right around 5:30ish, so the place was hopping with customers. I'm sure during the slower times they are much faster. The employees are all very friendly. And as someone else pointed out, even the other customers are friendly. The place is just filled with good karma. The little boy behind the counter kept us all entertained while waiting for our food. Very cute! Why 3 stars? I'd say it's the food itself. New owners, definitely not the same food or prices. Food is very different, so if you enjoyed it before the change in ownership, you'll probably be disappointed now. There were also significant price increases, so this isn't your cheap place go to place for Chinese food any longer. I ordered three items and the price including tax was 27% higher than it was before the ownership change. The egg foo young is strictly in patty form now with the meat inside the patty like other restaurants and it is served with the sauce on the side. Of course they didn't give me enough rice or sauce. I ordered a large egg foo young and received a stingy small carton of rice, not sure how a small carton of rice is supposed to be enough for 4 patties and realistically the amount of sauce I received is only good for 2 patties. This was not helped by a $2.00 price increase. There are no more lunch combinations, if you want the egg roll, you'll have to pay an additional 75 cents. The price of the lunch specials went from $3.95 to either $4.50 for pork/chicken or $4.95 for beef. Sorry to say that in addition to the price increase, the flavor of the items is not the same. Each of the items I purchased seemed to taste like there might have been some bleach used in the preparation. Each dish tasted slightly of how bleach smells. I won't go back unless there is another change in ownership and then I'll give the new owner a try, but I'm done with this owner. read more

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. I've been going to this place since that kid that played Yu Go Oh (sp) in the lobby was knee-high to a grasshopper. This place was my recommendation to anyone that asked about the best Chinese food in the area. Today is the first time I've gone since the restaurant was under new management. The Shrimp Egg Fu Yung sauce was formerly full of pea pods, mushrooms, shrimp, onions and was perfect. Now you get patties served in a greasy brown sauce. It was slightly too greasy to even be Meh. I'm so disappointed. If you loved this place in the past you are in for an entirely different experience. So disappointed. read more

Jin's food is good and portion sizes are huge. That being said, my husband and I love Chinese take-out... and we live close to both China Star & Jin's... so we decided to compare the two. I went here for dinner with a friend and we both enjoyed out meal. There are only a few tables within the restaurant and one was occupied by the owners son. It's not really set up to encourage people to eat there. It was totally freezing in there! Typically I prefer cool temperatures over heat...but I needed to put my winter jacket on and had a hard time stopping shivering. The food was good. I got the shrimp and vegetables. It was very good. The sauce was light but flavorful. I also got chicken friend rice. Again, very good! The egg roll was okay and the crab rangoons were exceptionally good! Our food was brought out to our table almost instantly. I was very impressed. Very happy with this place and I look forward to eating here again....maybe once the weather warms up a tiny bit! I came here after a good friend told me how amazing their dumplings (pot stickers) are. I was particularly craving Chinese food today and decided to make my trek from St. Charles to Wheaton and order my typical Chinese fare when I'm trying out a new place: Egg Drop Soup, Crab Rangoon, Pot Stickers. I was told that the Pot Stickers will take 20 minutes and I told her that was fine. I was the only customer, aside from one man with a pick up order, so I struck up conversation with the woman who took my order. I've been learning Mandarin over the past 2 years and so she and I discussed the challenges of learning Chinese and English. The conversation was brief but friendly. I ate the Pot Stickers when I got home. They were pretty good. The crab rangoon wasn't bad, but was really full of cream cheese. I was kinda hoping for more crab. And it's kinda hard to screw up Egg Drop Soup, so that was good too. All in all, pretty decent. I'm not sure if I'll trek there often, but I'll definitely keep it in mind the next time I crave Chinese. read more

My first grandchild Baby girl Niva born on 20th July, so stopped by Jins China for a lunch, orderd eggrolls,combo fried rice,scheswan ck and their house chilli sauce which given free, visiting this place for a long time, some times good some times stale but this time its worst,combo fried rice,eggrolls soaked in bad oil evidently used several times over, chilli sauce had a foul taste and ruined all food, I suggest seniors who got kidney,heart problems like I do avoid the place like plague, it gave me chest pain,kidney pain nausea,headache, blood test indicated my kidneys couldnt handle the bad oil was advised to drink water to flush out kidneys. Love Jins for just about any kind of Chinese take-away that we like. Their fried rice is delicious and my hubby loves their General Tso chicken. I've been known to trudge down there for egg drop soup when needed to soothe a cold or sore throat too. Sad to see the school age boy seated at a table day after day with his laptop, apparently the son of the owners or an employee.
