If you are considering Backyard Blues Pool (Jordan Kiss), please look past the other 5-star…read morereviews. Based on our 9-month ordeal, this company is not the same as it once was. We experienced a catastrophic failure of both workmanship and professional integrity. When we signed our contract (early January), we were promised a pool that would be ready for the Spring season. Instead, we were met with month after month of delays and excuses. The project dragged on for nearly a year and wasn't "finished" until the end of summer (final Inspection passed October) We lost an entire season of use due to their inability to manage a schedule or supervise their crews. The construction itself was plagued by major errors, including a botched pool layout and elevation. We were told we would see the forms prior to pouring the base layout. We went out of town and found the layout grossly incorrect. When we demanded they fix their own mistake, the owner, Jordan, attempted to charge us to correct it. In a separate situation, we were told to purchase a 5000+ retaining wall or sign a waiver releasing them from structural warranty (they were trying to force on us to cover their errors). After weeks of bantering, Jordan finally came on-site to discuss the wall. To which, he became hostile and started yelling at us in our backyard. He threatened to abandon the project entirely and verbally berated us, claiming we had "run out of money" and were "just trying to get things for free." This was a blatant attempt at financial intimidation. They installed our coping using silicone adhesive instead of a proper mortar bed. This created a dangerous "false bond," causing tiles to pop off and creating a fall hazard. When it was reported, I was blamed for purchasing the wrong materials. I purchased a product specific for pools and used throughout the United States. In October, we reported a significant, visible water loss (estimated at over an inch per day). The company said it was normal "evaporation". From his office, he repeatedly dismissed a 600% higher-than-normal water loss as "evaporation" to avoid his warranty obligations. The company only reached out to send someone once they realized we were serious about filing formal complaints with the State of Tennessee and other venues. This "offer" came only after the damage was done and the liner had collapsed. We have already hired a licensed professional to perform the repairs Backyard Blues ignored since the water loss was reported last year. Their sudden "availability" is a desperate attempt to protect their license, not help a customer. Because they refused to investigate the leak, the ongoing water caused the total liner collapse, shrinkage, and massive wrinkles throughout. The new company to fix their mistake said we were very "lucky" the liner was able to be salvaged. Two other local pool professionals have confirmed that this company's standards have plummeted. I am certain the company will respond by gaslighting this review--claiming we were "difficult," trying to blame the leak on our winterization company, or making excuses for the plumbing. Do not be fooled. We were incredibly patient for nearly a year, but this company simply cannot be trusted with your money or your property. Avoid at all costs.

She cares about the customer. Also, I do not want to leave out Jacob. He was very kind very knowledgeable on correcting any issues with my pool. He went over and above to help me. My Pool was green and they told me what to do and it cleared up immediately and I have not had any problems since. They both deserve a bonus or a raise for their exquisite customer service. They didn't treat me like a Number. They didn't act like most Pool stores that want to get you in and get you out without solving your problem. I would recommend Backyard pools to any beginner or experience pool owner. Sincerely Sukeeta Duncan

What should have been a wonderful experience turned into a nightmare…read more The project started well enough, but problems began almost immediately. During excavation, equipment broke down on-site and we were asked to pay for the contractor's downtime. The original construction crew was ultimately removed from the project and replaced by another crew to complete the work. Throughout much of the process, we found ourselves managing details and overseeing progress that should have been handled by the company. When the pool was finally completed, we were initially very happy with the results. Unfortunately, that didn't last. Within the first six months, all of the pool lights had to be replaced. The pavers had significant ponding issues and had to be removed and reinstalled. While those warranty items were eventually addressed, additional problems continued to surface. We began experiencing issues with the sheer descent waterfall features and later learned they had been plumbed through the vacuum system, causing debris to clog the lines and preventing proper operation. Correcting that issue required tearing apart the face of the spa. The spa then developed leaks that required additional repairs. In total, the face of the spa was removed three separate times. The spa cap was replaced four different times. Today, the grout throughout the spa area is cracking, crumbling, and failing. As time has passed, additional workmanship concerns have become apparent. We have had other professionals review portions of the project and were informed that the paver banding was installed with the wrong side facing outward rather than the finished side. We have retaining wall stones that are visibly out of alignment, corners and edges that were not properly finished, and numerous details that suggest a lack of quality control and oversight during construction. For the past several months, we have repeatedly asked the company to address these issues. We have requested warranty consideration. We have requested a repair quote. We have sent emails outlining our concerns, including safety concerns. Most have gone unanswered. The most troubling issue occurred when a cap block came loose while my wife was standing near the spa. We have grandchildren who use this pool regularly. At this point, this is no longer simply an appearance issue--it is a safety issue. To be fair, there have been individuals within the organization who have attempted to assist and move our concerns through the process. Unfortunately, despite months of communication, the underlying issues remain unresolved, and we have been unable to obtain either a meaningful resolution or even a repair proposal for the safety concerns we have raised. Five years later, it feels like we have spent more time dealing with repairs, callbacks, and unresolved issues than enjoying the pool we invested so much money to build. The only major component we have not had issues with has been the fiberglass pool shell itself. Had you asked me four years ago, I might have given a very different review. In fact, I did recommend Kevin Sparks Signature Pools to friends, neighbors, and others who asked about our pool. Looking back, I regret those recommendations. The pool looked beautiful when it was first completed, and for a time we were pleased with the results. The real measure of a company, however, is not how things look on day one--it's how they respond when problems arise years later. Unfortunately, that is where our experience has been the most disappointing. If you choose this company, get everything in writing. Require regular project reviews. Document every conversation. Most importantly, be prepared to closely supervise every phase of construction yourself. We invested a significant amount of money to create what was supposed to be our family's dream backyard. Instead, we have spent years dealing with repairs, repeated failures, safety concerns, and unanswered requests. Based on our experience, I can no longer recommend Kevin Sparks Signature Pools.
