If you are considering Backyard Blues Pool (Jordan Kiss), please look past the other 5-star reviews. Based on our 9-month ordeal, this company is not the same as it once was. We experienced a catastrophic failure of both workmanship and professional integrity. When we signed our contract (early January), we were promised a pool that would be ready for the Spring season. Instead, we were met with month after month of delays and excuses. The project dragged on for nearly a year and wasn't "finished" until the end of summer (final Inspection passed October) We lost an entire season of use due to their inability to manage a schedule or supervise their crews. The construction itself was plagued by major errors, including a botched pool layout and elevation. We were told we would see the forms prior to pouring the base layout. We went out of town and found the layout grossly incorrect. When we demanded they fix their own mistake, the owner, Jordan, attempted to charge us to correct it. In a separate situation, we were told to purchase a 5000+ retaining wall or sign a waiver releasing them from structural warranty (they were trying to force on us to cover their errors). After weeks of bantering, Jordan finally came on-site to discuss the wall. To which, he became hostile and started yelling at us in our backyard. He threatened to abandon the project entirely and verbally berated us, claiming we had "run out of money" and were "just trying to get things for free." This was a blatant attempt at financial intimidation. They installed our coping using silicone adhesive instead of a proper mortar bed. This created a dangerous "false bond," causing tiles to pop off and creating a fall hazard. When it was reported, I was blamed for purchasing the wrong materials. I purchased a product specific for pools and used throughout the United States. In October, we reported a significant, visible water loss (estimated at over an inch per day). The company said it was normal "evaporation". From his office, he repeatedly dismissed a 600% higher-than-normal water loss as "evaporation" to avoid his warranty obligations. The company only reached out to send someone once they realized we were serious about filing formal complaints with the State of Tennessee and other venues. This "offer" came only after the damage was done and the liner had collapsed. We have already hired a licensed professional to perform the repairs Backyard Blues ignored since the water loss was reported last year. Their sudden "availability" is a desperate attempt to protect their license, not help a customer. Because they refused to investigate the leak, the ongoing water caused the total liner collapse, shrinkage, and massive wrinkles throughout. The new company to fix their mistake said we were very "lucky" the liner was able to be salvaged. Two other local pool professionals have confirmed that this company's standards have plummeted. I am certain the company will respond by gaslighting this review--claiming we were "difficult," trying to blame the leak on our winterization company, or making excuses for the plumbing. Do not be fooled. We were incredibly patient for nearly a year, but this company simply cannot be trusted with your money or your property. Avoid at all costs. read more

First let me just say Jeanne has outstanding customer service, very patient, very kind , very educated on the pool process. She answered all my questions and More. She cares about the customer. Also, I do not want to leave out Jacob. He was very kind very knowledgeable on correcting any issues with my pool. He went over and above to help me. My Pool was green and they told me what to do and it cleared up immediately and I have not had any problems since. They both deserve a bonus or a raise for their exquisite customer service. They didn't treat me like a Number. They didn't act like most Pool stores that want to get you in and get you out without solving your problem. I have been with backyard Blues Pools since 2021 and there are different reasons why I like BBP. First, it was my many interactions early on with the owner Jordan that left the impression that he cares about the customer. He is honest and doesn't try to sell you equipment and services you don't need. He has assembled an outstanding staff that makes you feel more like family than a customer. Second, it is because of the service technician Mark. His experience and expertise in what he does is very impressive. You are left with a feeling that when he leaves, you know the job was done right. He has no problem explaining exactly what he is doing and why he is doing it. The openness to educate and include the customer in the process of his installation/repair or maintenance of the customer's equipment is refreshing. He is also is someone that takes pride in his work. That's a quality that is lacking a lot in today's service industry environment. He is an asset to this organization and needs to be commended. Third, there are two more of the BBP staff that also need to be commended. They are Libby and Joanne from the Old Fort Parkway location. It is my preferred location to interact personally with staff and that is solely because of them. They are both amazing people who go out of their way to make the customer feel comfortable and important and they do it easily. That is what makes it so genuine. Personable, engaging, informative and caring are just a few words that come to mind when wanting to describe their performance. They always have a smile and a kind word. You leave that location with a smile every time. Since I began using BBP, I have since had them fix a plumbing leak on my return line, install a much needed new liner, a new LED light, a new deep end ladder and replaced the sand in my sand filter. They also are now doing all my openings and closings. From the beginning, they have been a tremendous help in educating and encouraging me in learning about my pool. Backyard Blues Pool Service is reputable and the best around to help you with everything you and your pool need. You can expect nothing less than great customer service, quality work in every area, friendly, prompt and knowledgeable employees. Thanks again to all of you. I highly recommend Backyard Blues Pools for all pool maintenance and service. Recently, I had a pool liner emergency. It was scheduled to be replaced next year but water began leaking under the liner. I called BBY and they immediately responded. Everyone was over-the-top helpful, friendly, and professional, and my unscheduled liner was installed. I am so impressed with all the BBP employees. I am very upset what occurred with the owner Jordon of Back Yard Pools. They have serviced our pool for the last 6 years. About 6 months ago my husband wanted to replace our pool equipment building and build a larger one to store more items. I talked to Mark when he serviced our pool and ask him if he could cut off the pipes to the pool and equipment so we could move the building. He said he would, and I paid him to do so. A few month later we found out that my husband has Pancreas, Liver and Lung cancer, which has made him very weak and ill. I talked to Mark again and ask him if I get the building put back would he reconnect the pipes and electrical wires to building. Mark then called me a week later and said that he arranged for some of the guys to help put the building back and he would reconnect. He stated that he wanted to do that for us. I thanked him and was greatly appreciative. Weeks later some of the crew volunteered to put things back, which took a couple of hours. I in return I brought in Pizza and drinks for them and I also gave Mark I believe 3 or $500 dollars, which he split with the volunteers. Mark came for a couple of weekend to finish doing the pipes and wiring to which I paid. I can't remember the exact date they were supposed to open my pool, but received a call stating they could not open then but it would be another month. Ok. Next once my pool was opened. I started seeing pieces of vinyl in the Robot and figured it may be time to get a new liner. I called the company Bobby Parks Pools (White House, TN) who put our liner in 7 years ago to get a quote and ask for a quote from Backyard pools. Both quotes came in. Bobby Parks at $6,800 with a install in 2.5 weeks and Backyard at $5,300 with an install maybe in 2 or 3 months. I opted for Bobby Parks even though they were $1,500 more because of the time they could install. REASON?? My husband is now in Hospice and was given a few months to live and I am trying to get everything I can done to be prepared to get my house on the market. A little side note, I also heard from a couple of people that he called me some choice names which I will not mention on here. I really thought he was more mature than this. Good luck in your future endeavors but I believe it is time to part our business relationship as it has become very one sided. These guys are simply the best pool people in Murfreesboro. I first used them when I got frustrated with one of the bigger pool stores in town. Backyard Blues fixed my issue right away, charged a very reasonable price, and explained how my in ground salt pool works. I also used them to close my pool for the winter.
