Not sure what Jimmy is famous for... perhaps being mid? We knew we had to try their famous crab cakes. Now, I always break out in a small sweat when I see "market price," but absolutely nothing could have convinced me that these crab cakes were worth $75. I would appreciate the fact that the cakes are 95% crab more if there was more nuance in the texture and flavor; it was flat to me, and I expect more from that price. Now, the mac and cheese we ordered on the side was the best mac and cheese I've ever eaten in my entire life. But, this is jimmy's famous seafood, not Jimmy's famous mac and cheese. We also ordered the seafood paella, which came absolutely loaded with clams, shrimp, mussels, and scallops. This was tasty, but nothing that blew my socks off. The charred broccolini we ordered on the side was pretty tough. To finish, we got their homemade creme brûlée, which disappointed me a lot. The top was crispy but the custard itself was chunky rather than the smooth, soft texture I was expecting. If this was based on service alone, I would give a solid 5 stars. We chose the seasonal seafood spring rolls as our appetizer. They were really good, not too greasy and seasoned well. I ordered the "Build Your Own Pasta" Penne Noodles with Seafood (Crab & Shrimp) in a Pesto Sauce, with grilled asparagus as my side. My son ordered the Cast Iron Chesapeake with Grilled Broccolini, the brought out a second Grilled Asparagus instead of Grilled Broccolini (my son kept the asparagus so he wouldn't have to wait for broccolini) unbeknownst to me my son also ordered the 3 Mini Lobster Tails with Garlic Butter. He gave me the Lobster to add into my pasta, everything was absolutely delicious. I don't particularly like the seating arrangement and I did not care for our waiter, that's the only bad things I could possibly say. I give the food 10 starts . Our server's customer service was poor (I would give him 2 stars) he should have been more attentive and he was very slow serving us. Every trip back home to Baltimore includes one mission, finding a great crab cake. My family knows I'm always looking to try a new seafood spot, so this visit we met at Jimmy's Famous Seafood for a Friday brunch straight from the airport. Reservations are highly recommended, and I appreciated being able to book online. Just be aware they require a credit card and charge a $10 per person fee for no shows. Parking was free and easy, and after figuring out which entrance was for the dining room, we were greeted by a friendly hostess and chose to sit on the patio. The outdoor misting system was a nice touch on a warm summer day, and even at noon the restaurant was filling up fast. I started with a red sangria that was refreshing, although I never found the fruit I was told it included. My family enjoyed the crab dip, crabby chicken quesadilla, and crab balls, while I ordered the Stuffed Lobster Tail. Since I was told Jimmy's lobster and crab cakes are amazing , this was the perfect choice. It was cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. My only disappointment was the charred broccolini, which was a little too firm for my taste. I had a great experience and can definitely see why Jimmy's is so popular. We ordered a little bit of everything, and every dish was delicious. We sat outside on the covered patio, which was comfortable and perfect for enjoying the beautiful weather. This place was just OK. We came for my nephews birthday dinner after his dad raved about it. We had a large party of about 20 people on a Saturday night but they were able to accommodate us with a reservation day of. The establishment itself was pretty noisy. Our waiters were fine except one woman seemed overwhelmed by how busy the restaurant was. Now onto the food they graciously suggested we put the kids orders in first which was a good idea but I wished all the orders would have went in because the adult entrées ordered later took what felt like forever to come out. My husband requested the cream crab soup to come out with the appetizers but it was drastically delayed and served lukewarm at best. I tried the oyster Rockefeller which was just OK. I did appreciate the bread service. I had the crabcake entrée with asparagus and thoroughly enjoyed both. I also had a strawberry mocktail which was nice. The kids entrées were also a nice size. We did the chicken tenders and the burger sliders. I had the double chocolate cake which was OK, my nephew had the yellow cake with chocolate icing and after trying his I preferred it. It was all so so delicious. Though the portions may look small it was more than enough to satisfy our fill. And well worth the price. I was also told you could order this nation wide. Give them a buzz to place your order. Growing up in the East Coast the thing I missed the most was blue crab. I ordered some excited to have satiated by craving. The thing that has brought me to Jimmy's is the Taylor Swift brunch parties. The first one was meh. The staff weren't very attentive (they were probably also overwhelmed), there wasn't any decor, and the food was underwhelming. And there was the manager/owner/whatever really pressuring folks to write positive Google reviews. The second one I attended (for The Life of a Showgirl release) was immensely better! There was decor, super cute placemats, etc. And the staff was more friendly, attentive, and engaging. Even the food was better. The upstairs bar area is smaller than I was expecting. But it's a nice space with a large square bar, plenty of TVs, and even a patio area. I'd be interested to sample the dinner menu and try more of the non-brunch options. So hopefully I'll find myself in Baltimore sometime where I can do that. read more

This time it was just me so I made sure that I was going. The staff was very warm and welcoming. Since it was my first time eating there, they made sure to provide me with suggestions on what to get. Was apprehensive since this place is SO infamous and I wasn't sure the place would live up to the hype. I have to say, I was impressed! The inside is much nicer than it looks from the outside. Very bright and spacious. We tried the crab dip (sorry - we destroyed it pretty quick so no photo) which came with a thick garlic toast. Yummm. My husband had the chicken Chesapeake with green beans. He was very happy. Said it was great portion and delicious. He also took down two of their Cinder & Smoke old fashioneds. With this being a high recommendation from my favorite auntie and cousins who are like brothers to me, we decided to end our weekend trip with a meal here - and this ended the trip in a high note, leaving us stuffed and almost unable to head back up the road lol. But we got there at the right time because a rush of people came in like 15-20 minutes after we arrived. Anyways, the restaurant was giving the vibe it should be downtown or on the water or something, tons of seating inside and outside on multiple levels. Staff were great, including our amazing waitress who gave us some background on the restaurant and an awesome recommendation/validation of what I would order for my entree. Food and drink were top-notch! We got the Finger Food Sampler as our app, boyfriend ordered the Steam Pot and I got the Build Your Own Pasta with penne, seafood and the ecstasy sauce which came with a Caesar salad. Delicious! You could tell how fresh the seafood was and they don't skimp on the amount they put/use in each dish. And the portion sizes were wonderful - I had pretty much another full meal with the leftovers I took from here. Highly recommend checking them out! My family and I visited Jimmy's on July 31 from North Carolina as the restaurant was high recommended. We were greeted and promptly seated. Our server arrived, took drink orders and asked if we would like to order appetizers. We ordered octopus and calamari. The server returned with our drinks and took our entree orders. I took my family to Jimmy's last weekend and it was so great! We went upstairs and are there...the vibes were good, good music and nice staff. My only complaint is my seating we sat at a tall table and it was a little tight especially with two kids. But that's it! So the staff was great! I noticed that every server who walks past stops and checks in at the table so we felt very seen and that everything we wanted was addressed. We appreciated the courtesy. My crab cakes were delicious but the sauce with them made it unforgettable! The crab dip was delicious, but absolutely needed more of the bread as there was just so much dip left! My only lowlight was the crab Mac which became just a bit too heavy and overwhelming. It's a really nice location with lots of indoor and outdoor seating but it was busy so we sat at the bar to avoid the wait time. I built my own pasta and I'm so happy I did. Seafood penne with some spicy sauce. So good!! The bar is nice, kinda small but there are a few TVs to make us for that. The bartenders seemed to have an attitude which is the reason for me not giving them 5 stars. The couple next to us noticed the attitudes as well so they left the bar to get a table. They were not attentive to us, and barely checked on us but they were real friendly towards other people. I'm not sure what that was about but after I finished enough of my food we left. We went to Jimmy's seafood on a Saturday afternoon in between the lunch and dinner rush, but still encountered a 30 minute wait for a table - this place is popular! We spent our wait at the bar and ordered some drinks while we waited. They have a nice cocktail, beer, and NA drink menu with great variety. The crab cakes are quintessential Maryland crab cakes, very little filler, perfectly seasoned, and broiled to a slight crisp texture. Broiled is the only way to go! If crab isn't your thing, they have plenty of other options on the menu including pastas, burgers, and other seafood entrees. My personal favorite side dish was the Greek lemon skillet potatoes, which were perfectly fried and had a nice acidity from the lemon. Our server was very nice, but my one complaint is that service felt a little slow and she didn't check in as often as we would have liked, for drink refills etc. It's a large restaurant that seems to always be busy, but it would have been nice to not have to flag our server down for more water. I'm not saying my inconsistent level of content is directly related to this outright, scientifically studied and proven fact that this restaurant doesn't always/often actually use local crabs, but it is clear that the menu and the staff will lie regardless. This is often NOT actually Maryland crabs like stated. In fact often it's not even from the USA. I understand needing to make business based decisions, my issue is the outright lying to customers. How do I know you you're not also randomly adding carcinogenic plastic to the recipe. I'm definitely not suggesting this, but the ethical principles and outright lies of the restaurant, management and ownership is what I'm questioning. Ive been on a slight boycott of Jimmy's over the years due to some negative experiences in the past, but the latest interaction I had with their food truck service was really top notch and the food was superb.
