Jimmy's is an unpretentious laidback place where you can enjoy a drink while admiring the artwork on the walls. At this Jimmy's location they've got artwork featuring Jimmy Carter and Jimmy Hendrix. Each one of Jimmy's locations is unique. Food offerings are carefully chosen among their preferred suppliers. I took home my cheddar chive scone to warm it in the oven. This coffee shop was the ideal spot for my friends and I to get our morning tea and coffee because it was close to my Airbnb. There is a small area and a pleasant rustic atmosphere to the place. I came in for matcha, but they also have coffee, tea, and a variety of baked items like muffins, croissants, and scones. The match was excellent; I had it with oatmilk and a single pump of simple syrup, which created the ideal sweetness balance. They have additional excellent dairy-free options. The staff at this location were super sweet and friendly. This spot is undoubtedly a hidden treasure, and I will most certainly return. read more

It was a nice warm day so we were craving some iced latte, this was the closest place from our location so we went there. The lattes were delicious, we had one with soy milk and one with oat. Wife and I came downtown for a date and we wandered into this gem. The interior reminded of some cafes in Europe: a bit rustic, nice tiny tables and a good service from the employee. I ordered a latte on a hot day. Yet it didn't feel super hot when I was drinking it. The drink went down smooth and the beans they use aren't over roasted. Love the place. A new coffee shop stop for me where I tried their JIMMY'S VERY OWN (JOV)! It totaled to $5, with tax included. This was described to me as a "vanilla latte with caramel". Not nearly as sweet as a caramel macchiato from Starbucks, but the two drinks do share a similar flavor palette. The beverage was very smooth to drink, which made it enjoyable. I also love when coffee shops have color lids! This small detail brightens my day. There was a single employee present when I stepped in just before 8 am. He was very knowledgeable about the menu as I asked what the JOV was, and if their matcha is sweetened (it is not, FYI). The store was clean, and decor is quite neat! read more

3.5 stars... a nice stop near the UofT campus to get a decent cup. Like all other Jimmy's spot I visited, this coffee spot has tons of character. Housed in an older home, the interior feels like a home except you have these incredible portraits of Jimmy's around the spot. Jimmy Carter, Jimmy Hendrix... you know the Jimmy's! I LOVE the ceilings... it has the old metal tiles that are imprinted with a pattern. They probably polished off the original paint and it looks like art work up there. There is a decent number of seating and it seems like they're friendly to people coming in with laptops. On a Sunday after the university school year is done, this was pretty empty. I only saw 3 laptops and so it was pretty easy to get a table. Service here is cute and funny... it was somewhat like a cute comedy act as the 2 just laughed it up with the Big Red Tour Bus that passed by. One of the barista was non stop waving at them and trying to get the passengers to wave back. He also had this ridiculously funny big mouth grin that reminds you of a happy muppet. Anyhow... they got the drinks quick and ready for us. They do have a few items to try out and I'm not sure if they're baked in house or brought it BUT they do have overnight oats, muffins, and a few bar items. They do have a few healthy items as well ... green smoothies and looks to be freshly juiced OJ. Purple Haze Iced Tea - This is a shade not normally scene outside of a crayon box! Made with butterfly pea flowers that tint the herbal tea a vivid purple and then lightly sweetened with a bit of lemongrass. This is a decently refreshing drink for those who dont want a coffee. I would say there's really no traditional tea flavour. It's a bit of a watery flower note ... I could taste a bit of a citrus but it's really light. I did like how it wasn't a sugar bomb... just enough to call it refreshing. 3.5/5 Iced Coffee - Supposedly steeped in the coffee for 16 hours. This was a decent as it wasn't super sour like some terrible iced coffee. It was pretty light and not too heavy... but still enough flavour that it wasn't overwhelmed when you used a bit of cream in it. It is a bit watery but I think thats just cause there was a fair bit of ice in it. But on a hot day... that's probably welcomed 3.5/5 Overall, this is a pretty good spot to catch some nice A/C near the university. There's not too many good spots that have decent coffee and seats available to you. The service is funny and quick so you always have that to look forward to! read more

Jimmy's is really close to U of T so I drop by once in a while. I find this location to be okay. There isn't a lot of seating available, only one long table at the back. They have several small tables but the tables are so small they don't fit much. I would come by if you wanted a drink / bite to eat to catch up with a friend. I also find the price to be expensive for the size you get. Their in store reusable small cup is so small; its a little glass cup. I would rather get take out cups at the same size point, which might hold more than their in store reusable cups. However, the location is really convenient for a specialty made coffee or tea drink. If studying I would visit other locations that may have more space to sit than this location. Otherwise, it's a nice location to sit with a friend and catch up. read more

Jimmy's is consistent around Toronto. Decent coffee, knowledgeable staff and snacks if you're in a pinch. Their wifi and seating is usually good, and of course, they have posters of famous Jimmy's everywhere. This location between the AGO, hospitals and U of T is no different. read more

The guy behind the counter talked my friend into trying the charcoal latte. It looked gross but he said it tasted really good. I've literally come here a few hundred times and just saw that I haven't reviewed this Jimmy's location. This location is a bit hidden like most Jimmy's locations so it's very much a neighbourhood coffee shop. Quite often you'll see people randomly finding people they know here. This location fits about 30 people. There is one giant table for working. Lots of electrical power outlets everywhere and Wifi tested today at 298/20. That's much faster than the last time I tested so there must've been an upgrade. I have usually ordered somewhere between the black coffee or espresso. What separates Jimmy's at this location for me has been the staff. Often my order would be ready before I ordered (always ordered the same thing). I have been on a first name basis with a few of the baristas. They do a good job hiring and the café is the busiest in the neighbourhood because of it (consider that there is also a coffee shop is also next door). For food, I usually get the muffins. The breakfast mixes are pretty good too. If you don't know what to get ask the staff. Don't need to hesitate, make a visit. read more

Small little coffee shop located on McCaul street near Princess Margaret Hospital. This place is always so busy when I walk by and I've been here a handful of times. They have a few small table and I mean small like a 12" pizza but it's enough for you to rest your beverage. There's a small upper level with 1 large table that can probably seat 10 people not bad for such a narrow establishment. They play great music all the time and the staff here are super friendly. I usually get a flat white here and I love the flavour here. They also have some light snacks and food as well as fresh juices. For some people this might not be the spot due to their limited seating but I always get mine to go. read more

3.5* Seating is pretty limited upon further inspection; there is definitely no backyard patio. However, there are about 3 small tables at the front, 2-3 small tables at the back and one large communal table - I came on a Saturday afternoon to try and find a study spot but everything was full! While the medium roast coffee is consistently good (and for the price, infinitely better than Starbucks especially since SB raised their coffee prices by a quarter), I had the cortado again and it wasn't good at all. The espresso tasted burnt, and the drink was much less creamy than the first time I had it. The barista who made it looked a little young, and didn't seem to be as careful or meticulous while making the drink. Further training for some of the junior staff would be beneficial. read more

I work nearby, and despite there being a number of budget options around, my coworkers and I will always go here instead. Great spot to hang out at on break when you're on a split shift and you've got an hour to kill. Great to hang out with buddies before work starts. Great for decompressing after working in the AM. I keep forgetting to ask this guy his name, but my sister and I call him Samuel, for some reason. He's our favourite barista! We were walking around and stumbled upon this cute coffee shop a few weeks ago while on vacation. It's in the 'downtown core' area of Toronto. We got a croissant, lemon bar, and coffees. The barista was friendly, and Mac DeMarco was playing softly in the background. It was a rather gloomy day but we enjoyed the morning ritual of coffee and our daughter liked strolling on the quiet streets. There were only a few other patrons in the place around 9:30 am. I cannot understand why a standard ratio of milk to espresso is not a priority at any Jimmies location. A cappuccino is a cappuccino because it's approx .3,.3,.3 froth,milk,espresso (Though modern style seems to favour espresso over foam which is fine). The way Jimmy's works is you can select your number of shots and then the size of your cup dictates how "milky" it is. This is according to the barista at this location. In my opinion, coffee creation is not a salad bar, I determine my "milkiness" through the drink type I order and number of shots... not cup size. So if I'm so mad... why 4 stars? Because I realize that maybe it's just me... and well the coffee is damn good and shots are most always pulled well at this Jimmys location -- Portland I find is less consistent. read more

I'm a regular customer at Jimmy's because the staff had always given me the best energy and greetings but the new male worker had made me a latte that tasted burnt and unpleasant. I had to ask one of the other staff members to remake it once he had left the floor because I didn't want to hurt his feelings, he seemed nervous. It's a small space but there are always seats in the back for you; its the perfect place to study or write papers. They also make really good scones and teas. I ordered a small medium roast coffee and I was in a blissful coffee high for the next 3-4 hours. Don't let the small size fool you, you won't need more than that for a small pick me up. The service was really fast and friendly though I'm not sure how it would be with other orders since I only got brewed coffee. I thought that everything was great both in taste and price. Visiting Toronto and staying across the street from this Jimmys. Been getting our morning coffee here every day. The dark roast is delicious. Add some cream and you have a great cup of coffee. Price is reasonable also. Staff seems to change on a daily basis but all of them have been friendly and ready to assist with whatever you need. read more
