Good food, fair prices. Old school place, very attentive service. My first time in but I will be back.

Birdie's is a beautiful restaurant with beautiful food. It's just that I've been there several…read moretimes and it doesn't taste that great. Nothing tastes homemade. Everything tastes like frozen food that had been thawed out. I ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich. The French toast was rubbery, like it had been microwaved and the ham tasted like cheap lunchmeat. The cheese was not warm or melted, which means they didn't put it on the grill to warm it. My friend ordered a Rueban and the cheese was barely melted and the bread hardly grilled. We also ordered their monkey bread which again tasted microwaved and like cheap canned cinnamon rolls, turned into monkey bread. It was hard and dry on the outside and not really done in the middle. Sadly, I think they just use cheap ingredients and maybe the kitchen is inexperienced. Our waitress was kind and helpful. She asked how they could've done better and I told her. For the prices, I expect higher quality. I love the ambience and the coffee was good, but I probably won't be going back because the most important part just isn't there, great food.

I loved the banana foster added to it and the bacon was perfect. I'll have to add it to my to go places for mornings. I'll have to try lunch next I'm sure it won't disappoint.

Jumped online and looked for some reviews of local restaurants in Chesterton, Indiana, a little…read moretown adjacent to Indiana dunes national Park. Found a couple promising choices and we settled on northside diner. And it was a great choice. Inside it has that quirky retro 50s, nostalgic feel. Memorabilia and art around the small building. Standout performances by the service staff. As it should have been, it was extremely busy on a Saturday morning. There also happened to be a festival in town. Which may have even subtracted from the amount of people waiting to get a booth, as there were some food trucks and other activities going on. But that being said, we sat at the little counter and ordered your basic breakfast with eggs and bacon and toast plus some biscuits and gravy and I was pleased that I didn't order the full-size biscuits and gravy because the half size was as big as a normal size at other restaurants. Gravy was full flavor, not gritty at all, and there was more than adequate amounts of sausage. Sometimes you have to play hunt the sausage, which is just a scary statement. I had ordered an extra well-done sausage patty just in case I needed to cut up more and had it. But I would've been OK without. Happy with our choices plus a tremendous value. Highly recommend anyone coming into the Indiana dunes area looking for a great breakfast value I believe the place closes at 1 o'clock, so keep that in mind. Now we were there on a Saturday so please check hours. Enjoy.

It was busy, so we sat at the counter, and "Ti" (not sure how she spelled it) and her assistant Haley gave us excellent service, and then Ti's Mom came out and talked with us. What a friendly, positive place for good food! Highly recommend!
