First of all: The entrance doesn't seem very accessible, so wheelchair users and people with strollers might have a hard time getting inside. There are two doors and a step in between, and even I had to maneuver my way in and out. Just an FYI. The Press has a coffee shop inside of it. How nice! I didn't partake because the line was long, but the coffee smelled amazing. What a pleasant thing to be a bookstore that's also a coffee shop. There are some cozy couches and tables here and there among the stacks of books. I suppose you could take your cup of coffee and curl up on a couch or chair, because I saw one person doing that. But mostly: This is a bookstore, not so much a coffee shop or place to lounge. So I wouldn't visit with the intention of posting up and working for a few hours. This doesn't seem like that kind of place. Again, it's a bookstore first, a coffee shop second, a place to lounge third. Although The Press is a small bookstore, it has a nice children's section, with lots of books for kids and even graphic novels (my personal favorite). There is something for everyone here. read more

Where is the perfect cult status Christmas romcom featuring this book nook roast roost and two cute individuals who couldn't be more opposite yet fall in love between some pages and espresso? I wish I had had time to browse and pretend I read more than Lord of the Rings every two years. Could complain it's tiny, but duh, no one wants a Barns and Noble next to the courthouse, pint perfect size however please don't bring more than two kids. I really enjoyed coming here! It's a cute bookstore that offers coffee throughout the day while you browse the books. They also have wine on select nights. They also have tables inside and outside to sit at. On my recent trip, I had the cocodamia latte. It has coconut, maple syrup, cinnamon, and macadamia milk. Yum! It's part of their seasonal menu. Brand new coffee shop and bookstore right in the heart of downtown Valpo. This place is really great. They roast their own coffee and it is really good! Really nice bookstore and atmosphere as well. On the coffee shop side of things, not a ton of table space for working, but great spot for one on one conversations. I stopped in for a coffee meeting and by 9:00a on a Wednesday they were hopping! This is an adorable little bookstore. I'm a big fan of books in general and an even bigger fan of little bookstores. They don't always have the things that I want, but they always have a cool collection of little stuff that you can't find in other places. It's always worth stopping in when you're walking downtown. It's really cool that on some nights they have special events going on. If I were you, I would check it out. Especially if you love books. read more

Everything you want in a local bookstore / coffee shop. They have a great outdoor seating area and indoor seating space. There's a couch in the back as well as seating throughout the building for private seating and studying. The book ranges are 10/10! From mysteries to dark romances this store has it all. Even some ACOTAR merch. There wasn't a changing table for littles in the bathroom I entered which was a bummer. The bathroom overall was very clean though. The coffee I can't write enough about! This is a great addition to the downtown Valpo area. Not just another coffee shop, or place to get some wine.m, this is a bookstore as well! The atmosphere is perfection. From the rich wood shelves to the dark green coffee bar, it's a perfect place to start your day and pick up a new book. Located on the north side of the square in downtown, you're sure to be at the heart of activities when you're there. Every detail they have chosen is just right, even down to the cups they use for to-go coffee. Now to the coffee itself: They are serving Yaggy Road Coffee. So it's super fresh and flavorful. They have a focus on getting local ingredients and pastries. I ordered the "new kid on the block" latte. Sweetened with local honey and crafted to perfection. If you're getting a large espresso based drink I'd recommend opting for the extra shot of espresso (3 total). When I'm in town this is quickly become a go-to place to grab a quality coffee and it's a welcome addition to the Valpo area! read more

Was just visiting the town and stopped here. Excellent espresso. Had the brown sugar iced espresso drink and the strawberry matcha. Both were exceptional. We walked around and had lunch elsewhere and before getting in the car I stopped in to get another brown sugar espresso for the road, it was that good! They roast their own beans. My friend and I just enjoyed a catch-up at the Press in Valpo. In all seriousness, of all the small business coffee shops in Valparaiso.. the press coffee was THE BEST. I had the "Shake the Frost" iced latte, which was similar to and even topped the brown sugar shaken espresso at Starbucks. Seriously, just great coffee and friendly staff. The environment felt clean and new. Lots of indoor seating and a really nice patio. I've never been in a small bookstore that had anything other than old antique books. This was like a mini Barnes and Noble! So many new/fun/popular books from children's to adult ages. I will definitely go here for my next Colleen Hoover book, just for the fun experience you don't find at Barnes. A really GREAT experience overall. I hope they're in Valpo to stay! read more
