Cook Out...brings to mind picnics, backyard grills, and even the ballpark. Well, surprise,…read moresurprise, it's quite good. I had been cleaning (I know, that's a miracle in itself), was stinky and dirty but hungry. Instead of using my fingers to dial, I decided to use the car and head to some drive-ins. As I left my drive, the decision to try The Cook Out had me turning left. The menu is surprisingly extensive, which made my choice more difficult than I thought. The Cookout style hotdog with chili, mustard, onion, and slaw (chopped, of course) had to be my choice. Hadn't had a good hotdog in awhile, but one lives in hope. I sipped my Arnold Palmer and let the anticipation build. WHAT?! I was totally taken aback with the taste of a hot dog that was just taken off the grill! I'm not kidding, I was impressed - especially when you consider I spent a grand total of $5 and change for dog and drink. Cheap eats are only good when the food is. I give this two thumbs up. I'll be back.

When you walk in and wait in their line you are essentially herded like cattle until it gets to be your turn to be sat. The rolls at Texas Roadhouse are heavenly and pair well with the honey butter. Their cactus blossom (like Outback's bloomin' onion) is battered well and actually comes with a quality onion (Outback sometimes fails to meet those standards). The salads are fresh and have great ranch. The steaks have good flavor (seasoned well) and go well with their fries. Our server was slow even though we were her only table in her section. It took about 5 minutes for some iced water to get to us. The setting of every Texas Roadhouse is pretty much the same, along with the same layout. Don't expect too much of a difference!

Meh. The service and…read moredecor are nice, but it's typically not a place I'd pick out just driving by. The exterior looks like a barn, while the inside is decorated in an eclectic style. The food is what everybody raves about though. Their top seller is appropriately named "The Flaming Amy", your choice of protein with 'spicy' toppings, like jalapeños and the Flaming Amy salsa. In all honesty, it's not that hot. There is a lingering spicy note, but not what I would consider "Flaming Hot". Needed more salsa to even get that heat to linger. The chips are not salted either, which is a shame, bc the salsa bar is legit. Several good options, like the Pineapple Jalapeño and the Wasabi. The portion sizes are good too, for the price. Which is why this place got a better star rating. And they're a local staple. People seem to love this place - for a Wednesday afternoon, the place was quite busy. I'm not saying to NOT try this place, but if you want to "bring the heat", coming to "flaming" isn't where I'd turn.

I was kind of disappointed with the sizing I ordered a large to split between the two of us and it wasn't enough. The 12 oz shake was amazing the only thing with that was it took forever. I was done with my food by the time the shake was done. It did look like they only have one shake machine so that could be why it took so long but the fact the I was done with my food before even seeing the shake was a bit crazy. The price of it all was a bit steep in the 40 some dollar range, but it was great.
