8.5.22: Today was probably the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. I arrived at Jimmy John's in Kings Mills at 12:32 pm. I wanted to go in to order, but as I got out of my car, 2 employees were taping a sign to the door that said drive-thru only. I got back in my car, and drove around to the drive-thru. There were 4 cars ahead of me. My receipt shows 12:59 as the time stamp. I did have to pull-up to the window to place my order, due to truck noise in the parking lot, and paid right away. Then I sat and waited, and waited and waited. 6 cars behind me got tired of waiting and left. At 1:10 pm, I honked my horn to get someone's attention. I asked what was going on and where was my order? The guy said the dining room was packed. I mentioned the sign on the door, and he looked confused. A few minutes later, a girl came to the window with my order, it was now 1:15 pm. I told the girl how frustrated I was with the wait. She stated the lobby was packed. Curious, I drive back around the building, parked my car and opened the door to see 4 employees standing behind the counter, 1 person eating in the restaurant, and the rest of the restaurant empty. When I got back to work and opened my sandwich...it wasn't what I ordered! I called the restaurant and Mike the manager was horribly rude when I asked for a refund. He had a ton of excuses that contradicted each other. When I demanded a refund, he told me I was the reason people didn't want to work in a restaurant and hung up. I tried to call back, but they didn't answer the phone. Ordered a drive thru pick up order only to wait at the speaker for five minutes then drive up to the window where I waited another five minutes and had two employees walk by the window and look at me. Finally went inside and asked to speak to a manager and when I told him what happened he did nothing and let one of the employees who looked at me argue with me and told me it wasn't his job to deal with the window. Cut my #7 in half starting eating it and almost done, and as chewing felt something hard, spit it out and was a rigid piece of glass and plastic. I am gteatful I didn't swallow it. I called and spoke with the manager, and he was sarcastic and didn't believe me. I stopped by the drive thru and ordered a sandwhich chips and drink. I'm the only one in line and was waiting for 15 minutes and then when I get my order its missing somthing I ordered. I wait 5 minutes for someone to come to the window, to no avail. I back my car up to the speakerbox and tell them whats up. I pull up and wait another 5 minutes for a bag of chips. Now I am dead serious when I say this exact thing has happened in this exact way 5 times now. If its not missing chips its the sandwhich mussing stuff or the drink is just soda water. That's extremely important to me when it comes to fast food since there will always be a few issues over time. I'm not very impressed with this location. It's 6:30pm on a Tuesday. They're not busy at all. All the tables were dirty when I walked in. I had to ask to have my table cleaned, which they did and cleaned all tables. The floor needed swept and mopped. The bathroom was very clean. Loooooove Jimmy John's. I owe a debt of gratitude to my friend who first took me to Jimmy John's way back in '98. I am so in love with them. Their bread is unlike any other sandwich place's bread. Seriously. My stomach is growling just thinking about it! We live all the way up in SoLeb, so the closest Jimmy's was down in Deerfield...which really isn't that far, normally speaking. But Jimmy John's speaking...it was just way too far away. (When you want it, you have to have it NOW!) This location is awesome. It's close to our house, easy to get to, close to the highway...AND they have a DRIVE-THRU! Not many Jimmys do...so I feel very special that they chose that for this location. And the people who work in the drive-thru are wonderful! There's a girl who works in the drive-thru quite often (her voice always sounds familiar to me) and she is SO nice. I work headset during lunch at my job, and I know how trying it can be at times. (You have NO idea unless you've done it, okay??) :) My standards are up there...I say that a lot, I know...and this location gives great service. Another thing that I'd like to praise about this location is the CUBELET ICE!!! Tiny, crushy cubes, wheee! I don't know why, but I love those so much. HA. I highly recommend ANYthing I've ever tried at Jimmy John's, but my favorite is the #16 Club Lulu. Turkey, bacon (lots of it), mayo, lettuce, tomato...and provolone cheese if you wish to add it (for a small cost...cheese is always worth the extra cost in my book). I also like to add onions to it. Enjoyed with salt & vinegar chips and an ice-cold Coke...it's perfect. The sandwiches are really huge for the cost. If I eat the whole thing AND my chips...I want to die because I'm so full. I'm happy because it tasted good, but ugh. It's best to eat half, save half, and then be delighted when you forget and then remember that you have half a sandwich in your fridge to eat! :) Oh, and their cookies! Don't go without a cookie! The chocolate chunk is my favorite, but the oatmeal raisin are dang good too. (Just tried one last night!) You can't go wrong either way. Unless you hate raisins. Something else that is really great about this location is that the employees are helpful and kind. I was getting food for my husband and myself on the way home from work one night, and I have to carry everything up 2 flights of stairs to our apartment...not easy with 2 drinks and no carrier. Well, they don't have drink carriers, but they did give me a box to put everything in...and it made things so much easier! It was cool because they went out of their way. They could have just said they don't have carriers and been done with it. It sounds like a small thing, but it meant a lot to me. Meeting and exceeding your guest's expectation is the way to create a fan of your business...and they did that. Generally I like JJ's, but the staff was a bit at a loss when I asked for some extra guacamole when I barely had any on my sandwich. The guy in front told me it would be $.75 extra and when I gave him a dollar he told me he didn't have a button to ring up this item. After waiting to see what he decided to do, he finally told the guy on the line to just give me some. I waited while they stood around. Then they made someone a sandwich. The guy up front, realizing I was still there, instructed the guy on the line to put some guacamole on a piece of wax paper to which he scraped up an embarrassingly, microscopic amount of guacamole for my sandwich. The laughable sign near the cash register said something about doing it "your way". Clearly, they need to take down that sign. All this nonsense aside, the sandwiches were very fresh and I had the best soft drink I've had in years. Me and a buddy of mine went through the drive through for a pick up order for us and his family we were unsure what the name was under so we gave the last name and two different first names he looked at us and talked to us like we were complete idiots. Then he came back and proceeded to tell us the order wasn't ready and that we would have to wait so we said okay and he just looked at us and didn't say a word so finally after we got out food I noticed there was no mayo or Italian so he told us "we don't do that" so confused I said what do you mean and he repeated his self and I tried to explain he could put it in the same thing the spicy ranch was so he raised his voice and told us he was not goin to do that and that we needed to leave. I'd like to point out that I believe Yelp is using Google's incorrect store hours. The proper time is 10am-9pm. They will keep the lobby open for you ten minutes past closing if you're in after close. If this issue were fixed, there wouldn't be so much confusion. read more
