The atmosphere is really neat. They really do have killer ribs and the BBQ sauce is heaven. Kids love to watch the train go around while they are eating. Very disappointed in the burgers. Quality of meat was subpar and reminded me of the way cat food smells. The bun was saturated in grease so forget trying to hold the burger to eat it. I wanted the burger cooked medium well and it was over cooked to the point the patty was hard. The Jim Dandy fries were also disappointing. The lid must have come off the Cajun seasoning container. Special Occasion Party- I had my husband's surprise birthday party here last weekend. Great casual atmosphere which was exactly what I wanted. I made an impromptu visit as I was in a wingy mood on a Thursday evening. I walked into the restaurant side (there's a bar on the other side full of older men) and it wasn't clear whether I should sit and wait for service, so I eventually found the counter and ordered 6 bbq and 6 hot wings. They were brought out to me and they were average wings, though I did appreciate the symmetrical presentation with the two different types of wings divided by celery. The wings overall were crispy, a little dry at times, and a few times a little too chewy. Both the bbq sauce and hot wing sauce were familiar and generic. I called for an order around 7:15 PM for a delivery order to Belleville. The person who answered the phone to take the order was obnoxious and so rude it defies description. Afer I thought about it for about 10-15 minutes I was tempted to call back and CANCEL my order. If I had NOT used my Credit Card to pay over the phone I would DEFINETLY cancelled my order when the delivery driver arrived with the food. I will NEVER do business with this location EVER again. I previously did business with the Rutherford location always when I lived in Rutherford. When I moved I did business with the North Arlington location, which unfortunately is now CLOSED. Jim Dandy's is a very good restaurant. The wings are amazing, and the ribs are the best ribs I have had in a while. This is saying something. The reason I give Jim Dandy's a 4 star instead of a 5 star is because the guy could talk your ear off. We were enjoying our food and for 20 minutes straight blah blah blah blah. We used to have a Jim Dandys in my town but it got knocked down for a stupid 7/11. It used to have an ice cream window that was packed all spring and summer. I miss it. I do go to this one sometimes and sometimes the Rutherford one. What I really like is their prices. Thank you for not ripping me off. I love your fries especially. This is my second review on this place. I love Jim Dandys. Food is great, their always on time and it's affordable. My only problem is that, today the delivery guy was very butt hurt over his tip that I gave him. I didn't have cash on me, so left a 20-25% tip on my card which is very reasonable. He tried to pitty me about it and it honestly annoyed me for a moment. I played it cool and just ignored it, but that's something this place needs to work on. The food was excellent!! Best ribs I had in a long time. They fell right off the bone with just the right amount of grill marks. The mac and cheese bites were fantastic and the bacon cheeseburger was great as well. The burger was cooked perfect and the bacon was nice and crispy. I placed a delivery order from Jim Dandys. The delivery was within the delivery window that they estimated, so theres no complaints on delivery time. I ordered the BBQ Cheese Burger and the cheeseburger sliders for my friend. The burger was ordered medium rare but came well done (which honestly is the nature of delivery, to be honest) To begin: the barbeque sauce was smokey and had a pleasant nutty flavor. The burger was served on a deli roll which was refreshing and maintained a decent taste. Overall id say it was a decent take out burger. The sliders were found to be very thin, but after 4 they were filling. There were nothing special about their delivery service, however it was more than acceptable for a delivery order. The driver was professional and prompt. Overall, i would suggest ordering from them for a quick lunch. However, i would suggest going in for a more fresh experience. We ordered delivery for a family dinner. We said we needed food for 10 and they advised us what to get. Once we opened our tray of food and for $130 we got 4 racks of ribs 20 perogies one potato and a half of chicken. I really don't think that is enough food for ten people or enough to warrant charging $130. Plus we were supposed to get fried onions and some other sides which they simply "forgot". When we called them to find out where the rest of our food was they weren't apologetic at all. They were nice enough to offer to send us more food for more money. I mean come on. $11 for a half of a chicken. The supermarket sells a whole roasted chicken for 5 I mean Boston market does better and tastes better than this was. I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. And they made my mom cry which really sucked read more

I've gone to this place twice, and both times, the service has been not great. I would agree with other reviewers that it's a bit clique-y and awkward, almost like you are not really welcome. The ribs were okay, but my fries and garlic bread were the worse I've ever had. Stale and old. The jaleno poppers were also old, and I could tell they were refried to warm them up. They were dark from over-cooking and on the bitter side because they were close to burnt. The salad and the dip for the poppers (plain sour cream) were blah. This place is not welcoming and the food is just meh. I've had better. Been coming here since I was a little kid. Their ribs are honestly the best around. They take fall off the bone to another level. Service can be a little iffy depending on who's working but that's everywhere. Owner and son are very welcoming and friendly. This place really makes for a nice spot in town to bring the fam or enjoy a beer with the boys. FYI They're always rotating tap beers which is a dream come true for us beer snobs. After not having ordered from Jim Dandy's in 3 years or so, I had a craving for their buffalo wings today. I ordered 18 buffalo wings and two rare cheese burgers. Instead, I was delivered 18 fried wings with NO/MINIMAL BUFFALO SAUCE and two over-done hamburgers (no cheese). When I called to have the order corrected I was told they were "too busy tonight" but would offer me a $5 credit for next time. A $28 wrong order and they offer me a $5 credit? I declined. They replaced my wings, which STILL HAD ALMOST NO SAUCE. When I called I was told that their wings have been like that for years. This is not true. I guess they are skimping on the sauce to save money. I will NEVER ORDER FROM HERE AGAIN. Oh, and I used to work here...the pipes in the basement are filled with asbestos and they "corrected" it by wrapping masking tape around the pipes ten years ago. read more

I went here for the 1st time this weekend. I didn't want to go as I had read previous reviews which were less than flattering but I went. I understand why there were negative reviews. Two people in my party had the pulled pork (I think it was called the "Porky"). It was supposed to be a pannini but was actually a sub sandwhich. When I tasted it, it was just TOUGH. I had the perogies & asked for onions. No onions...The perogies were dry & tough. Deep fried when I think they're supposed to be sauteed. I just ate the filling & cut around the outside so maybe I had a TEASPOON per!!!!!I also didn't like the fact you had to order from the bar & then pick up not just your order, but utensils, condiments, napkins, drinks, etc. The table we occupied (and NO...it was not busy so we had free rein to pick a table) was dirty to the point that my sister-in-law's white sweat shirt sleeve ended up in ketchup left on the table previously. Again, the place not not packed. They couldn't have cleaned the tables? Twice I asked for club soda & a RAG for the sweat shirt. We were given paper napkins. Need I explain a paper napkin shredding? I, like other reviewers have stated, I will NOT return to this place again. The pulled pork is so tender & just drops off the bone????? HARDLY. The prices???? I ordered about $52 worth of food for some monday night football and not to mention my 7 month old was super cranky so we needed something quick and easy to pick up. When I walked in the counter guy was super friendly and offered the special they had going on for monday which is " a full rack of rips for the price of half" so i went for it. We ordered some bonless wings, chicken tenders and fries and some onion rings. Everything was cooked to perfection . Ribs fell right off the bone, chicken was perfect with great tasting honey mustard and the bbq sauce is to die for. Onion rings were good , fries were a bit soggy but that was due to us not eating right them right away. The boneless wings were just a bit over cooked with the sauce but still good.
