Ribs and Chicken Combo with Onion Rings
Robert C.

Got lost in Nutley and ran into this little gem of a place. Reminded me of being back in Texas. There's a little train that goes around the ceiling of the restaurant. Very out of the ordinary. Service was okay. Nothing to write home about. The ribs were fall off the bone flavorsome. The chicken left much to be desired. The onion rings were okay. Beer battered would've been a nice touch. Coleslaw was surprisingly delicious. Overall not too bad. I'd still return.

IF YOURE COMING FOR THE RIBS! DONT Went for the first time on a Sunday as I was told they have good ribs, and while, they were fall off the bone, they were kind of tasteless and burnt and the sauce had no flavor. My friend had a burger and it was over cooked and dry and tasteless. Complete fucking waste of money. And they don't even have any service. Music too damn loud and you have to order for yourself at the counter and they slap a menu in your face. This is fucking ridiculous and I will not be recommending anyone come here. A place with an identity crisis and bad food and no service. No wonder it was empty on a Sunday

Ribs. Baby Rack BBQ with Fries

The atmosphere is quite pleasant, good American music, the food tastes good, especially the Baby Rack BBQ. The attention is acceptable, the waiting time for the order is good. The small toy train that runs inside the Restaurant gives it an authentic touch.

Stay away!! This place is actually horrible...this bar is right near my apartment so my husband and I decided to walk there and get dinner and drinks. My husband ordered a grilled chicken sandwhich, but what he received was a DISGRACE-it was a literal piece of chicken in a bun that someone clearly sat on (refer to pictures). The chicken also STANK, so there was no way in hell we were eating it, let alone pay $15 for this. The bartender/server was super sweet and took it off our bill. But the food was a disgrace. Also, there must be a bus nearby that drops off all the local boomers and pedophiles-the clientele is bizarre and this creep was full on staring at me-my hubby put him in his place tho. Go to yesterdays down the street instead!!

The ribs tested like they are showily smoke and they fell off the bone and melt in my mouth. Jim should open up a new Location in TN with his ribs. The Buffalo wings are cooked just right and not greasy at all. The fries are plane I think the fries need to dipped in some Battle like at BJ in Teterboro.

"Chicken Philly Steak with Cheese" It was more bread than anything else! Not worth $10 at all!

Ordered a "chicken philly with cheese sandwich" Not worth $10! It's was more bread than anything else! Cheese fries and steak philly sandwich was good. Taste was good just don't think the price is worth it at all! Would definitely avoid doing carry out from here again.

See that we paid $13.90 for a total of 6 pierogies when it should have been 12 of them.

PLEASE READ This is partially a negative review for Uber Eats BUT mainly the manager who I tried speaking with at the Nutley Jim Dandy's. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ALL We ordered plenty of food tonight -- 2 of the items were the pierogies -- which we love from there. On Uber Eats it has 2 price options for ordering pierogies -- 3 for $4 flat and another option incorrectly labeled as a 3 piece but had a marker indicating + $2.95. We have ordered from them many times before and know they have the 3pc and a 6pc so we expected for $6.95 to get the 6 piece. I called and spoke to the manager (according to him -- should have gotten a name!). I explained the situation to him in detail and his response was "it's more expensive since you ordered it with Uber Eats" this is not true the service fees are not included in the price of the food.!! AND "our kitchen is closed already" -- i let him know that I live in town and asked if he could make it right for us on a future order and he did not agree to this. He completely blamed Uber and told me to call them rather than making it right for the customer. Customer service should be taught to a manager in my opinion. Still love their food though.

Pulled Pork with Cheese and Fried Onions

I was extremely disappointed in Jim Dandy's. From what I heard I was expecting a decent spot with quality food but this is was far from that. There was so many things on the menu that you start to wonder if they can actually make all these meals properly. I went with something that I believed would be a safe bet which was the pulled pork sandwich. I was wrong. The sandwich was a decent size but that's the only good thing about it. It tasted like it was heated up in a microwave. The price was extremely expensive for what it was and it didn't even come with a side of anything. I wasn't the only one who didn't enjoy the experience here. My friend ordered a cheeseburger that has no lettuce or tomatoes or anything other than the meat, cheese and the buns. I don't know if I was expecting a lot more but what I was asking for wasn't anything crazy. Overall, expensive, below par location that I will advise people to stay away from.

BBQ is not an easy business to run. It takes a long time to prepare, requires a great deal of attention and generally, people are just picky about it. That said, BBQ delivery is an even harder business to run. Based on my one and only experience with Jim Dandy's, BBQ is not their problem. The ribs were outstanding and fell right off the bone just like everyone else has said. The only problem with them is they were cold upon being delivered. This isn't a huge deal, but when you just throw them in styrofoam and don't wrap them in foil first, loss of heat should be expected. This place really should just stick to ribs. The sides aren't worth it. The person over the phone told us the fries weren't fresh and that the mac and cheese wasn't like Kraft. Not really. It was exactly like Kraft, only inside a breaded triangle. And also frozen. We noticed right away they forgot the baked potato, yet they packed butter and sour cream. When I called to tell them they forgot it, they actually asked if we still wanted it. Unbelievable. One hour later it arrived, without apology, and as Nathaly V. pointed out, she's had better from Wendy's.

Boneless wings. Buffalo and BBQ sauce on the side.

They got everything from your traditionally Italian cold cut sammich to the Hoboken (roast beef, mutz and gravy). Service was pretty swift. We got 3 sandwiches. My wife and myself got a chicken based sandwich and the kid got a meatball parm. If I didn't see it for myself, I would've never known, but it threw me back. They warm the chicken up in a microwave. I'm not sure why when the meatballs they brought in the back to the ovens to make my son's sandwich. I just found that very odd. I got the chicken cutlet, with provolone and broccoli rabe. Sandwich was excellent. I was really in the mood for crunchy semolina bread, but this was still very good. My son loved the meatball sammich. So all in all, a very solid spot. You can dine in or take home. (We brought it home).

Entering the shop, we immediately appreciated the decor, the scents, and the lovely meat case displaying cold cuts, flatbreads, and other Italian delicacies. The fridges were stocked with take home soups, cheeses in brine and more. Had a nice chat with someone who might have been a manager or owner who helped us navigate the menu and make our choices. I had a sandwich with imported ham and garlic sautéed broccoli rabe on a crusty roll with bocconcini. She had the Parma with prosciutto, fresh moz, arugula, sun dried tomatoes and balsamic glaze. Both of us were delighted with our sandwiches. They were huge and the fact the cold cuts were freshly sliced put them over the top. We ate them with imported potato chips and local sodas bottled specially for the shop. We're not in the area very often, but we'll make it a point to come back - with a cooler this time to bring some delicacies home to Maine.

Anyway, after umpiring a well played 14U baseball game in Yanticaw Park, I found myself hungry for a filling Italian sub. I consulted Yelp! which highly recommended Salumeria Regina ... which certainly sounded Italian to me! lol Anyway, since the place was pretty quiet (it was after 2PM) I wound up chit chatting with the Owner (see above.) I actually wound up ordering a Salumeria Salad, which was akin to an Italian Chef Salad, only with Salami and Ham. Truth be told, the salad was a wee bit disappointing, because it was sorely lacking a few standard Chef Salad staples, such as a little sliced turkey or roast beef, maybe a second kind of "contrasting" cheese, a hard boiled egg, and possibly some olives or peppers, something to give it a little more variety. I did ask to substitute Arugula for the traditional Iceberg Lettuce; and add sun-dried tomatoes, so perhaps it was my own fault for substituting other ingredients. The salad was packaged in a nice sized container, but it was dominated by fresh Mozzarella, which was, indeed delicious. Next time, I will definitely try one of their more popular sItalian subs, which had been my original idea!
