Temecula Series Working on the county elections, I've been interested in spreading the wealth, so to speak, in areas I'm assigned. Equal distant between two polling centers, with Ronald H Roberts Public Library just down the street. Anyhow, after that disappointing lunch that cost a whooping $30 at the newish Chipotle wannabe, it was refreshing to find the sort of socal Mexican food we love, for down to earth prices. I wasn't hungry enough for a burrito, which a quite popular here, and on the larger size. I gathered that from the steady stream of walk-in customers who ordered on the spot, or called ahead. Meanwhile, I enjoyed my plate of rolled tacos with shredded beef. The rice and beans were excellent, however, the shells were pretty tough, not cooked to order it seems, but reheated. Fine overall, especially with that spicy salsa. I plan to try a burrito in the future for the November election but possibly sooner if the government also assigns tasks in the city. read more

Food is always good. Salsas are good. Ordering through the phone/pick up is very easy and fast.

8 PM on a Friday is quiet here, walked right in, ordered and food came out pretty quick. Staff were busy the whole time, no laziness there which is great to see. Tonight I had the KCC Burrito. It's like a fajita and a Cali burrito hooked up on a quesadilla and wrapped themselves in it like a warm cheesey blanket. Every bite of tortilla has the cheese, the fries, though not crispy, weren't a distraction or overwhelming. The onions and peppers were great flavor additions to the guacamole and sour cream. The carne asada here is a nice thin strip cut, so it's got a great texture in the chew, flavorful and tender. This burrito is juicy! Do not try to eat this in your lap, in the car or on the couch, you WILL drip. The sweat from the peppers and onions get all the flavor juices flowing, great in your mouth, not on your pants. Definitely going to be a local burrito I come back to when I just want something I already know is going to be good. read more

Called in an Al Pastor Burrito, was ready in the time they gave me, set out right when I walked in the door. No photo because we inhaled it burrito was wrapped perfectly so that every bite had meat, guacamole and onions/cilantro mix. Ton of meat inside, salsas were amazing (had the hot and mild green). We taught about Tacos for lunch and referred to Yelp for a decent place to obtain them and found Jilbertos on Margarita near the East Cafe. The place was clean inside and the order came out quickly. We ordered the following food items: - 2 large fish tacos - 2 mini pollo tacos Everything was good. The tortillas and the veggies that came with them were all fresh and crunchy. The fried fish was tasty but a little small and thin for the large category. The chicken, although considerably favorable, lacked the seasoning but came out okay with the sauce. Definitely not the same as the location near the Promenade Mall in Temecula. The burrito was not as filled and their salsa bar had less items. The chile verde was good but again not as much as you get at the other location. I tried this location due to traffic and if I really had to go here I would but it wouldn't be my first choice. read more

Meh. I really think I didn't understand what I was ordering, perhaps. Located in a little strip mall in the corner. My chicken chimichanga was not good. It looked good before I cut into it. It was massive! The inside was best described as soupy. Not what I was expecting, it leaked it's soup juices everywhere. The tortilla itself was really good. The chicken wasn't bad, pretty flavorful, and tender. But along with the other textures inside I found it unpleasant. Like I mentioned, maybe someone else would really enjoy it, but I did not. Rice and beans really were delicious, delectable! Perfectly cooked. I wish I would've gotten portion sizes of those instead. My husband and I also shared a cheese quesadilla and it was really good, I would definitely get that again. High marks for that one. We ordered from here using Uber Eats and thought we were ordering from the Jilbertos at the Mall. This turned out to be a major mistake. These Jilbertos can't be related and if they are this Jilbertos is in fact the ugly stepsister. I ordered my wife the shredded chicken burrito as I would at the other Jilbertos and it was a diaper drenched in diarrhea! Graphic I know but they put unwanted beans in with 6 day old chicken. She could not eat it. My carne asada burrito resembled a rolled taco but the rolled taco would have tasted better. Just meat and onion and the meat was not good. The fish taco was nothing more than mush and some sort of sauce. Gross! Don't know what is going on with this Jilbertos but someone in the family needs to discipline them, stand them in the corner or make them write on the blackboard 100 times they will not serve shitty food to paying customers. Yelp world: stay away from this Jilbertos. Go to the one near the mall. That is my best recomendation! One star because there is not an option to give zero. read more

Fast, flavorful Mexican food! I've ordered a few different plates and combos from here and the quality of the food is always the same, great consistency. As usual I had to try the chilaquiles and I've got to say theirs do not disappoint, but be warned they are a little spicy. I have also ordered from their catering menu for a party and everyone loved the food, so much, that we hardly had any left overs. Jilbertos is my go to for dependable Mexican food with just the right amount of flavor. Great food, descent prices, clean establishment, plus all the skater kids eat here after a session at the park. Man I really hate leaving a bad review for this location because the food is very good, especially their breakfast burritos. Every time I come in the morning their sign says they open at 8am, it's currently 8:20 and the lights are off and no one is home with the doors locked. In my world if you are not 10 minutes early to work you are late. I get if you are occasionally late but EVERY SINGLE TIME I come here at 8am they are closed. Effing annoying. As we came in this place was dark and very cold almost like being outside! The hard shells tacos we order with carne asada that in Spanish means grilled meat but it was actual boiled, over cooked, chewy and cold! The sides of rice & beans were also not warm... we ordered a burrito & the outside of the tortilla was warm but all of the ingredients inside refrigerator cold... the refried beans were so salty! The meat & the rice insipid, they served us fast but I would rather wait a bit longer but have hot and well prepared food! Just unpleasant, also unfriendly, dirty especially the bathroom was a mess and lots of ceiling tiles broken, just would not recommend this place to anyone and we will definitely not be going back. read more

Ordered 2 crispy beef tacos and a side of refired beans at 7:45 pm. Picked up my order at 8pm. The tacos were the worst I ever had! The taco shell was STALE and there was little meat and no cheese. The beans were RUNNY like soup and cost $3.99 for a half if a cup. I can buy a can of refried beans for .50 cents at Albertsons. As soon as I left the taco shop they closed up at 8:10pm when they have it stated on the internet they stay open until 10pm. FALSE ADVERTISEMENT! Stay away and go to TACO BELL where the food is better and you get more value for your money. This place is AWFUL and for what you pay, you are getting cheated out of your hard earned money. I often crave the Chile Relleno burrito from Jilbertos. It is my definition of good comfort food and hits the spot when I partied a little too much the night before. This is your spot. I've had their Cali burritos, Carne asada fries, and super nachos. I love their hot sauce (even tho you need to ask for extra) and it's a solid 8/10 every time for me. Their fries are crisp (not soggy), the guac has good flavor, and their Carne asada is flavorful (not blown away again but consistently good). Our food was disappointing to say the least, perhaps the empty parking lot reflects the food quality. Our previous experiences were good , I'm not sure if they changed cooks or inferior ingredients but the food was bland. It is unfortunate that the food was bad, now we have to find another place. I called because I wanted to order an item that takes a while to prepare ahead of time, before going there to pick it up. Was placed on hold 2 times for over 10 minutes each before having to hang up both times because no one took me off hold. I went there instead (only live 1 minute away) and when I got there there was nobody in line and the cashier was just standing there on her personal cell phone. Now for the food: food was definitely overpriced for the quality that you get. The order was bland and tasted watered down. Just moved to Temecula from OC and this place is now down the street from us. We are so happy we discovered it. Authentic Mexican food that is fresh and not greasy. The Jamaica drink is delicious. Had the breakfast burrito and my husband had the carne asada burrito. So good. Can't wait to eat here again. Price is perfect too. It was fast and fresh. Apparently they told another white guy this and thought it was me.... so racism aside. I request that they refund that part of the order and just give me the rest. They refuse. 5 min later they claim to have made my out of stock item from scratch.... surprise everything was ice cold, cheese not even melted, tortillas old as he'll, and nothing was edible. Then the nail in the coffin is I call to request my refund a second time and I'm argued with and given excuses that there was only 1 Cook..... there could have been 10 cooks but if no one cooks the food then it doesn't matter. Came in on a Friday for lunch for the first time. Place was pretty full. One guy working register and one cook. Noticed at least half the people didn't have food yet. Ordered 3 street tacos. Quick and simple...... 15 minutes later a few got their food. Guy that ordered before me took half his order that was done and left after waiting 20 minutes. One older gentleman that was seated told me he had waited over 20 minutes for his food. He didn't have a big order. It was just for him. ????? Food was fine. Salsa bar was fine. Wish it was a bit better experience as it's walking distance from my house but I think I'll make a little longer walk to a different taqueria in the area next time. Came in for a phone order. Upon arrival, no one greeted me or acknowledged me. A simple "give me a moment" or "ill be with you in a second" would have been perfectly fine. The main issue was that whoever was at the register, kept constantly looking over at me standing right in front and got busy with another order, looked at me again and continued once again. Gave them the benefit of the doubt and waited 5 more minutes and not a single word. At this rate, just walked out instead with no food. Customer service sucks.
