I usually have a good experience here. But today, not so much. They told me that my skid plate…read morewasn't usable -- as they wrote on my receipt the "skid plate bolts were missing on arrival," and the "skid plate being held up by zip ties." They told me that they would have to take off the screws and then couldn't put it back. They showed me one of the screws that they say were stripped. Since I've only come here for oil changes (and once at the College Hill Valvoline), and I don't change my own oil, it had to be Valvoline themselves in the past who stripped the bolts and put on the zip ties, without telling me there was a problem. And their only solution was to chop off the bolts? They don't have any replacement bolts they could use? They did ask if I wanted the oil changed, before they took off the skid plate. I did agree, because I needed an oil change and, yes, they did the work. They said that the car probably would be okay without a skid plate. When I asked if the problem was that they don't have the bolts or if the problem is a bad skid plate, they replied that it's "either" that they don't have the plates or the skid plate is bad. Huh? In other words, they don't really know which is wrong, and didn't care to go the extra mile & try to find out and try to replace my skid plate. They really weren't that concerned that I was losing a car part here and a protection for the underside of my car, nor did they really take responsibility for the problem. And it wasn't an easy communication: the person handling the case spoke very quickly, with poor enunciation in between his words, so I needed to keep telling him to slow down & speak clearer. He hadn't really learned how to use a "customer voice." For the price, not sure I got good value here. I lost a skid plate, & will need to go back to my dealer to get a new one put on. (Correction: after calling the dealer, I went back and got the skid plate, which Valvoline had already thrown in the dumpster, and the dealer is going to see if they can put it back on, using Honda's bolts). As I said, I usually get good service here, but am totally unimpressed by the current crew they have working there.

I'll preface first by saying this is my first ever Yelp review. I'm normally the type to genuinely…read morenot care enough to "slander" a business because I'm hurt I didn't get my way. So just know I'm not "one of those" customers. I'm a girl in her 20s, and I used to only trust Monro with my service. I felt great knowing there was a woman working there, it made me feel like I wasn't being ripped off or taken advantage of for being young and ignorant. But I never really spoke to her, I'd only speak to this man who may have been manager/owner or just the primary desk person. He always seemed a bit condescending to me, but I chalked this up to being tired of angry customers mad they have to pay to maintain their car. I really did think I was getting the best service, and I would convince myself my instincts were wrong and maybe I was insecure because I was in a place with experts on something I didn't know much about. It has been 2 years now since I got a new battery from Monro. I had this battery replaced for a pretty penny, and now 2 years later it needed to be replaced again. The technician told me they used a cheap, low quality battery. They fixed it for about 3/4 the price Monro did without me even mentioning what Monro charged. Also, this is funny to admit but I was told during the battery replacement at Monro that my windshield washer pump was going to cost around 300-400 for service and parts. I declined doing this because I only could pay for the battery at the time. 2 years goes by, I finally decide I want my wiper fluid again. This shop charges $200 for install and parts. All the while telling me what codes were read and what they meant. The FARTHEST from condescending. I feel that Monro was taking advantage of the fact I had little knowledge of how to take care of my car and would purposefully ignore issues so they could charge me their base service rate to come back again and add it onto the bill. I don't know if this is a management issue or the mechanics I dealt with specifically, but either way. I'm hoping to save someone the trouble of being over-charged and under-serviced.

So I knew I had a puncture or tear. Took the car to the dealership and they saw a nail in the tire, but said I had to get a whole new tire versus doing a flat repair even though the nail was in a repairable area. They refused to repair it because it is a run flat, even though they had done it in the past. I've gone to tire discounters before I got this new car and always had a pleasant experience. I called the tire discounters at this Kenwood location from the dealership and asked if they could squeeze me in to do a flat repair. Mind it, it was already 5:15 PM and they close at 6 PM so I knew I was asking for a lot. However, the gentleman on the phone was very nice and asked how far I was and when I replied 6 minutes away, he said to come on in. Once I got there, the gentleman inside was very polite and helpful. He reassured me that the tire could be fixed based on the picture I showed him. They took me in right away and confirmed that the tire was repairable. Less than 20 minutes and I was out the door, barely sat down. To top it off, they didn't even charge me anything and had me on my way. This tire discounters location really knows how to lift people up when you are having a bad day since having to fix a flat is inconvenient and just starts your day off in a sad mood. I will definitely be coming back here for any future needs like this. Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience. You made my day!
