0 or -5 Star. The WORST JIFFY LUBE!! Now I love Jiffy Lube. My sister works at one. Now I work in the Bay Area and needed to get my oil changed and didn't have time to take it to her to get it done for the family discount. It's NYE weekend and I was on a time straight. Her manager tells me to give any jiffy lube I go to the store #, her name and my sisters name and they would be able to call and verify it to give me the discount. When I get there as I'm telling the gentleman what my sisters manager told me to relate this manager slides his door open and says that's ain't how it works with a rude attitude. I say oh how does it work then because she said I shouldn't have a problem. Went on to say if I want the discount I need to go have it done by my sister that he's a different franchise and was very rude didn't approach the situation as a manager should. I told him he didn't need the attitude responded with you think I have an attitude I'll show you an attitude. But now as I read the past reviews this seems to be a problem you guys haven't fixed. I say it's fine I'll pay the full price. Goes outside and stands at my car the whole time it's being worked on to make me feel like the job isn't getting done correctly or he's going to do something to it. As I'm paying I turn around and 4 of the workers are just staring at me including the manager. Told me there's a check engine light on the car but there wasn't before I got there but I guess that was a "mistake" there's no light. As I'm leaving the manager stands 3 feet from my car with his arms crossed just eyeing me in my car I roll down the window and tell him I'll be calling corporate that's not how you treat your customers. We exchanged some foul words as I left he pulled out his phone and continued to make a call. Good thing I have a old mailing address on file. The worst DO NOT GO HERE!!! I've been bringing my Honda Element here since 2015. Every time the guys there are professional, quick, efficient, personable. I have never felt they were trying to urge me to spend more money but gave me all the info I needed. Best of all, I know my car is better than I rolled in, AND they do the windows too. DO NOT GO HERE! I went to Jiffy Lube on University ave., Berkeley, CA for an oil change and my car's engine would not run after their staff replaced the engine's oil. The engine would start for about 8 seconds, and then it would die. I had to call a tow truck (on my own expense) to remove my vehicle out of their stall #3. The staff made me feel very uncomfortable. Every few years I give Jiffy Lube another chance hoping that they have gotten their act together. And every few years, I my experience with them tells me...nope, they haven't The local guy I usually go to was really busy today so I went up the street to J.L. The guy who welcomed me was cool - very professional. But my first red flag was when I heard an employee yelling at another (hopefully, he was just kidding...but he wasn't smiling.) Then I pay and leave and notice the windows have some of the same gunk they had when I came in. I saw a woman spraying them but did anyone actually try to clean them? And either the inside wasn't vacuumed or it was done so horribly. If I can't trust employees to manage the little touches, how can I be sure they are doing the oil change right? I presented the man that works at this jiffy lube a coupon for an pennzoil oil change for $22.99 and I noticed that after I got home and looked at the receipt, it said that they used formula shell oil and NOT pennzoil. I called this jiffy lube and the guy said that the oil used was formula shell pennzoil. I did a google search and I didn't find such an oil that existed under that name. I think it was just regular formula shell oil. So, i'm basically warning people that if you go there expecting to get a pennzoil oil change at the discounted $22.99 price, that you need to ask them if actual pennzoil is gonna be used and not formula shell. read more

I didn't read the reviews first. My bad. I got an oil change here last Saturday. Of course they tried to upsell me on all this crap. They left my car with gook all over it. They were supposed to do all the minimum extras like wash my windows, and most importantly for me (after the oil) was check the air in my tires. I'm girly in that I don't really do that and expect it done properly at my oil change. Well, I went to get my car washed later that afternoon. When I came to pick it up, the guy had pulled it over to the air pump and told me he had to fill my tires with air b/c he noticed they were low. It makes me suspicious that Jiffy Lube didn't even change my oil. I won't go there again. Shameful. read more

Quick and friendly service. I recommend coming early so you don't have to wait in a long line. Current magazines, free coffee, and they'll even let you change the channel on the TV in the waiting area. Plus this jiffy lube is a short walk to bette's to-go and you don't have to wait while your car gets a lube job. I like that they, like all Jiffy Lubes keep a service record of your vehicle so that you can keep your services up to par with what your factory warranties warrant, and it's much cheaper than taking it to a dealer for an oil change. Also, Jiffy Lube rotates tires. I like the convenience of having and oil change and tires rotated together at one location. read more

I went there on 9-11-2017 for oil change. The technician gave me a Customer Authorization Form for their Multi-Point Complimentary Inspection includes: -Operating condition of lights, wipers, headlights, belts, cabin air filter, air filter, horn -Fluid level of coolants, brake fluid(if accessible), engine oil, gearbox fluid, battery fluid(if accessible), Diesel Exhaust Fluid(if applicable) -Check/Adjust tire pressure, tire tread depth -Status of dashboard warning lights -Battery test(if accessible) I filled in the form with my car's model , mileage and my signature. After a while, it was my turn, I was asked to leave the car and they will take care of it and then I was escorted to the waiting room. Later the manager came back and told me that the 3 break lights ( 2 at the tail and 1 in the middle of the windshield) are broken and need to replace. It would cost me $10 each to fix it. He then printed out the break down of the total cost. I was stunned when I saw the total would cost me over $75 with extra labor cost when I just came in for a $39.99 oil change job which included parts and labor! I drive night time a lot and it's unlike for me not noticing my break lights not working when I drive into my garage while applying break. So I asked the manager to show me the problem. I found that the 2 tail main break light was ok. Only the back wind shield break light was not working! I didn't like these kind of deceptive practice, so I asked the manager print me another estimate just for the oil change and not fixing any break. The manager was very upset. He tear the first estimate apart and throw into the trash bin. So at that time I decided not to have any oil change work done there. He said it's too late. They already drained my oil. I asked who gave them the authority to change my oil. He said when I came in with my signature on the that form(Customers Authorization)! I said heck no, that's for the Complimentary Inspection only, not for oil change yet!Without any estimate of the cost I would never give out any work order. But he insisted that was the authorization for them to change my oil! He even threatened me to go ahead and drive my car away with no oil in the engine! At this point I have no choice but let them change my car's engine oil! At the end I requested to see the oil level after they had filled it up from the oil stick to make sure everything is ok and he wouldn't let me see it either from them or do it myself. He said I can see it only if I drive my car away from their shop and not in their territory! I think this manager is crazy and was practicing unlawful business! I would never go back to this trap and these crazy people again! read more

They replace your oil which is what you ask for. They offer you 20 other things that they can also do for your car, which is fine. The problem I have is that they try to convince you that you need all or at least some of those things, when you don't. They told me that my transmission fluid really needed to be replaced (very pricey) b/c it had darkened some - they were "very worried" about it. I've gone elsewhere and even after 5000 more miles it's been dubbed 'fine for a while longer'. FYI if it still has pink color you're fine, darkening is normal. Trying to sell me stuff I don't need is kind of what I expect from places like this, but they also left the transmission fluid dipstick unmounted, which if I hadn't noticed soon after leaving, could have gotten a lot of junk in there and been a real problem. Whether it was negligence or intentional, I can't say, but I know that I will not go back to any Jiffy Lube and recommend that no one else does either. read more

Worst service. Told us 30 minutes for everything but we waited for over an hour. Richard, the rude front desk person made sure to not answer our questions about payment and wait times so we were stuck there. The first auto mechanic also told us that it would be $37.95 and then Richard tried to upsale us and became borderline hostel when I explained we didn't want that. The absolute worst service EVER!!! I went in for an oil change and tire rotation and left with every single light on in my dash board. Upon my return I spoke with Thamma who identified himself as the manager. We filled out an incident report in which they accepted financial responsibility for any damages. I was advised by Thamma to return the next day to receive payment to have a diagnostic done on my vehicle by my mechanic. Conveniently Thamma was not there the next day. Instead I was dealing with Richard, who by the way is VERY disrespectful. During our encounter, he became upset that I was advising their customers of their unethical business practices. He began putting his finger in my face and even used his body in an attempt to push me out of the waiting area. I do have all of this on video, as I was recording the entire time with my cell phone. I did contact Jiffy Lube corporate office and was able to obtain the franchise owner name (MC LLC) and phone number. Upon further research I discovered that these particular owners, Anthony & Joann Fanticola, happens to own approximately 40 Jiffy Lube locations and were under investigation by the California Bureau of Automotive Repairs for charging people for services that weren't rendered or unnecessary and also for damaging customers vehicles. This location most definitely should have its license revoked and part of their staff should be replaced, especially the unprofessional manager and inexperienced techs. If anyone is interested in contacting the owners the phone number is 714-444-4940. Also make sure to file a complaint with the state so we can work together to have this location shut down! read more

I had my oil changed here recently, and the service was quick and cheerful and friendly. However, the Jiffy Lube team overfilled my oil by a LOT! I only discovered this because the next time I started my car after the oil change, my car began up-shifting really hard (jerking, sputtering, making weird sounds), there was a burning smell from excess oil flooding the AC, and all of my gears were lit up and flashing so I couldn't see what gear my car was in. My check engine light came on, and my car sputtered and died in traffic, then in a parking lot. My dipstick was about 1/3 over the full line. I somehow drove it back to Jiffy Lube and they let out some of the oil, while the whole time telling me that it must be because I drive a European car, and they're so fussy, and excess oil wouldn't do that, and they only overfilled it a LITTLE, etc. After talking down to me for twenty minutes, they finished up and I left. No apologies, no concern for possibly permanently damaging my car, no refund, etc. My check engine light is now off and my car has driven just fine for the past week. Horrible. I went here to get my oil changed. My car is an '02 and it doesn't have an oil leak but it burns off oil so it needs an oil stabilizer to be added. I brought it last time I went there, I gave it to them they put the right ratio in ( stabilizer to oil.) All good. This time I gave the gentleman the bottle of oil stabilizer and said that you got a put some of this in and explained why. Had a very pleasant experience even joked around with this guy named Neville who took the bottle, took me over to the waiting room and cashed me out. Drove away happy and then I realize, "I wonder where the bottle of oil stabilizer is? They probably just forgot to put it back in the car." When I called I got Richard who I also realized from the paperwork was the person who worked on my car who is unbelievably rude. When I asked about where bottle of stabilizer was, he said we put it all in. I was shocked and asked why since i had said some and it is a ratio, not supposed to be the entire bottle, and he said you didn't say exactly how much you wanted, so we put the whole thing and I said well the last time they just put the correct ratio in and he yells at me that I didn't tell him exactly how much and I try to explain that it depends, I can't tell him exactly much it depends on how much oil he's putting into my car, how many quarts of oil to how many quarts of stabilizer, it's a ratio it's right on the bottle and the guys last time already knew what they were doing about it and he starts going on and on about how I'm disrespecting him; it was crazy and when I asked to speak to a supervisor he said he was the supervisor and then hung up the phone. I went back in because I called my mechanic who had said check the oil if it's above full then have them drain some of it; of course it was above full because Richard put in the amount of oil the car calls for, plus an entire bottle of oil stabilizer which he shouldn't have done and if he had some sort of question about it he could've just asked; it was like he was being spiteful and there's no reason for it, i never even met him before. When I got back to the Jiffy Lube he went on the same bend about me disrespecting him and then he got in his car and drove away. He also mentioned that they are not allowed to put anything else in the car. Funny, because when i called to ask if they could add oil stabilizer they said they don't have any and i would need to bring it in. He could've seriously damaged my car (having too much oil and fluid is as bad as having too little and I was driving around for over 30 minutes just from leaving the shop initially to when I called and got crazy Richard on the phone to when I got back.) I will never go back to that Jiffy Lube again, I will never go back to a Jiffy Lube again and I'll definitely be contacting their corporate headquarters to report this unprofessional, messing-with-people's-cars-supervisor-from-hell. Since Richard ran away from the issue Neville dealt with draining the right amount of oil out of the car (realize the ratios are still off which is not OK but at least it's not over filled) and was very nice and apologized to me several times for what had transpired. read more

I guess every body visit is different i wasn't even a custumer and in went to oil changers for an oil change and proceeded to take a trip to Sacramento on the way back my car started smoking and knocking turns out the oil changers didn't screw my oil filter on all the way.Causing all the oil to leak out the car. The lady who was there was so nice she had the tech fix my oil filter and fill up my car for free she then proceeded to explain to me what happen . as i watched her interact with the rest of the customer's she was so nice and helpful. there was nothing about the store that was "ghetto" and sounds like the previous comment is by a racist individual who needs to get with the times ....... I for one plan on becoming a regular besides all the comments i read cause jiffy lube help me in a time of need. read more

My car was serviced at Jiffy Lube Berkeley about 3 months ago. Unfortunately my experience with them was unpleasant. They showed me my air filter, and they said it was very dirty and it needed to be changed. I decided to do it on my own, and went to Kragen to buy a new air filter. I found out that Jiffy Lube was actually showing me somebodyelse's air filter instead of mine. My air filter was still very clean compared to what they showed me. Very dishonest business practice. I just took my car to another place for servicing, and I was told that the place who did my oil change last which is Jiffy Lube Berkeley did not put a new rubber sealant when they did the oil change, and there was major oil leak in my car!! How awful to hear, and I had to have a new oil change of course, and I strongly discourage anyone patronizing Berkeley Jiffy Lube! read more

Paid $60 dollars for the first oil change on my brand new car. Noticed a small oil leak an hour later which was not present before. Either the filter was improperly installed or the plug wasnt put on tight or damaged by the technician. Also my tire presure light just came on for the first time which was stated as checked on the invoice(obviously not). Never again. I shouldve read the reviews here. read more
