Had a day off and decided to treat myself to lunch. I noticed a Groupon for Jibaro and I love Puerto Rican food, so it was a win win. I came early afternoon and was initially the only person dining in. I let the young lady at the register know about my Groupon when I was ordering and had no problem redeeming it and amount over the Groupon, I was able to pay with another method, no issue. As for the food, it was quite good. I hadn't had mofongo since I visited San Juan a few years back. I ordered the roasted pork with my mofongo and enjoyed crispy pieces mixed in. Hmmm, well this was an experience. New foods for my palate. Staff was very patient and kind, describing different options and making recommendations. Enjoyed watching the place fill up around the lunch hour with my Spanish-speaking customers. Admittedly I was a little surprised that they had so many customers, because the pricing seemed a little expensive for receiving food in styrofoam containers with plastic utensils. My coworker ordered the Mofongo with fried chicken. The chicken was pretty dry and the Mofongo was quite a heap of food! Difficulty was the plastic knife could not cut her chicken. I enjoyed my meal, but confess I can't remember exactly what is was since it's a month later that I'm writing this review. Whoops! It had tasty, juicy garlic chicken and a side of plantains. I do know that it was a hefty serving, which allowed enough for two meals. Will be back to try a sandwich. read more

We came here after a place we always go to closed after going there for years. We got ~arroz con gandules (yellow rice, pigeon peas) ~pernil (roasted garlic seasoned pork) ~tostones (yellow plantain sliced and deep fried) Everything was very good. I wish the potion of tostones could be chosen like a larger size bc they're so good. The pork was VERY good and not just all fat like some places, the seasoning was perfect. Not bland not too salty. Yellow rice was good and you could pick a few different sizes. It could use some salt but that's a preference you can add more but you can't take away. read more

So...when my husband and had had an early dinner here, it was ok. The food was decent. We each got a plate. I got chicken in garlic sauce and he got carnitas. My chicken had good flavor but was VERY dry. The carnitas was a little better, but overall not great. For the chicken, there wasn't a sauce on it, just some garlic flavoring was in the chicken. They were also out of a ton of stuff - white rice (which was fine), cheese, some proteins... The girl behind the counter was sweet, so her service was fine. The inside of the restaurant is really cute tho. They did a nice job fixing up the inside. They have a garden wall with modern lettering, they have fake "windows" with scenes from their country. read more

Ordered the Cuban sandwich (original - just pork, ham, pickles, mustard and cheese). The bread for the sandwich was great and it was a pressed sandwich (as I was hoping). Wish they had a good Swiss cheese. Cheese was nicely melted white American. It did lend a creaminess but missed the flavor of Swiss. Service was fast and the food was served up hot. Please bring Swiss cheese in for this sandwich. It will take the sandwich from an eight to a ten +. read more

I ordered yellow rice with stew chicken. It came with a salad. The puerto rican rice was just okay. The chicken was decent.. a little more on the dry inside for me. I ordered a side of beans. The beans are a must! So flavourful. Cooked just right and full of Spanish taste. I tried their potato salad. Not my favorite was kinda dull in the taste. I also ordered their shredded pork sandwich. The crust on the sandwich was sweet and crispy. The shredded pork was full of flavors. There mayo and ketchup with lettuce onion and pickles set the whole sandwhich off. When I roll into a town I always put Puerto Rican food into the search and it's hit and miss. Lots of times it's not even Puerto Rican food. I am so happy that I found out about Jibaro's. The arroz con gandules is like I was in my moms kitchen. Same with the Pernil. In town 4 days so I had it for dinner twice and breakfast once. Loved this place. The Chicken was also delicious. The dinner was the best ever (and I have eaten in my share of PR restaurants looking for that meal "like mom used to cook". The mofongo and sancocho were the tastiest ever, fresh and flavorful. You can tell it was made with love. The restaurant was beautiful, reminding me of the warmth of the Puerto Rican people. I wrote to the restaurant twice for information on their Cubano Sandwich (what exactly is in it, and how large is it). Their official website does not specify and the Yelp online menu simply says "Ham and Cheese" (which is not all that goes into an authentic Cubano). Anyway, I sent an email to the address on their website, then another using their "contact us" link. Never got any response, so I guess I won't be making the 40-minute round trip to try their restaurant. Seriously, what's the point of allowing customers to contact you, if you NEVER RESPOND? I hate companies that don't follow through. If you don't want my money, just say so up front and don't waste my time. read more

Good breakfast. The portions were good. I ordered an egg, ham and cheese sandwich which was really better than I expected due to the bread (Domplin) which I have never had before. I also ordered Revoltilla Jamon Tostadas which is new to me as well. Both were very tasty. I only ate half of my order on Saturday. I reheated the leftovers today and they heated up nicely. Very enjoyable experience in Parma! Small but pleasant atmosphere, seemed to have a large percentage of to-go orders but we sat inside. This place exceeded my expectations and I enjoyed the entrees, the chicken and especially the rice! Definitely a place I plan to revisit in the near future to explore the menu further! read more
