We have visited Tropical Bay about 3x past 2 weeks or so. Saludos to Joelys that has been our hostess/waitress/ from the very beginning. This place is worth the visit. 1st time: Our waitress was Janayla. It's the first time we have ever seen her, she is new. What a great addition to the team. She was so professional, respectful and you can really see she loves working with people, all smiles, very attentive and helpful. 2nd time: We are on our way to visit family, we asked if they wanted something to eat. We sent them a link to their website menu, and they texted their order. This time we ordered front in the front. Wilson one of the owners was taking our order. That man gets dressed with patience in his sleeves... lol. He was so good to us as we were trying to get everyone's orders right. 3rd time: Today August 22, 2026 - My husband asked me what do you want for lunch as we were driving back from Ukraine Parade in Parma. I said nothing, not hungry. He said what about Tropical Bay! He knew I would change my mind. This time Joelys took care of us. She's been there ever since we started going. Wonderful young lady and I know she's been rightfully going up the ranks at the restaurant and given more responsibility. She does a great job! Already knows what I order and all the intricacies. She's always happy to see the customers. Through every visit if the owners are there, especially Diana she makes it a point to come see us and takes a few minutes to say hello. They are salt to this earth wonderful, hardworking people. My favorite: Fried Pork with Tostones - I love all their food but I'm Latina so I make all these foods, I don't make the pork bites and tostones. These are melt in your mouth. My husbands: Tri Fongo with Shrimp, Cuban Rice, Rice and Bean The food I took my guest that they loved, Beef Pastelillos/Empanadas, Dominican Chicken, Butter Chicken, Puerto Rican Rice and Beans The place looks so cute and celebratory. Music playing, the Tropical Feeling, it's so nice. You will not be disappointed. I have severe food allergies and this is the only place I trust with my life. read more

My husband and I had lunch at Tropical Bay Latin Cuisine on Friday and it was fantastic! We each ordered mojitos, he had the lime and I had the passion fruit and both were absolutely excellent and so refreshing. For food, we shared two appetizers and honestly could have made a meal out of them. The Dominican Flag was incredible: crispy fried plantains, perfectly melty fried cheese, Dominican salami and smoky longaniza, all topped with pickled red onions that added the perfect zing. Every bite was packed with flavor and felt like true comfort food. We also loved the Loaded Yuca Balls; crispy golden yuca stuffed with cheese and topped with roasted pineapple, jalapeños, sour cream, and bacon. The combination of sweet, spicy, cheesy, and savory was amazing. Everything tasted fresh and homemade, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was great. We'll definitely be back to try more from the menu! read more

Tropical Bay is a great spot if you're looking for Dominican and Puerto Rican cuisine. The décor is super cute and has a fun, welcoming vibe. Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and did a great job throughout our meal. I ordered the Garlic Chimichurri Shrimp. While the shrimp was cooked well, it had a pretty fishy taste that just wasn't for me, and I wasn't a fan of the cilantro aioli. Several people in our group really liked the pineapple dressing, though, so I'd definitely give that a try if I went back. Next time, I'd order a different entrée because there were several other dishes that looked delicious. The only thing that felt a little off was when we first walked in. The gentleman at the front just stared at us without greeting or acknowledging us, which was a bit intimidating. It wasn't a huge deal, but a simple "Hi, we'll be with you in a moment" would have made for a warmer first impression. Overall, it was a good experience, and I'd definitely return to try something different on the menu. I also had the flan, which was pretty good and the Tropical Bay House which was tasty! , read more

Really great experience. We were in the area and this popped up so I figured we would try it. I have loads of Puerto Ricans in my family and have had spent my life eating Puerto Rican food. Everything was very well made with plenty of flavor. We had the sampler appetizer platter which, for $25, was a big plate of food. Ithad Yucca balls, Yucca fries, Tostones, Fried cheese, fried pork chunks, etc. Really well done and with some delicious dipping sauces. I had the shrimp Mofongo, which was excellent. It had a garlic cream sauce that was extremely tasty. The Mofongo itself was perfectly seasoned and prepared. My wife had the chicken and rice bowl which she enjoyed. For dessert we got the guava egg roll and a flan. Everything was wonderful and we will definitely be back. read more

Everything we ordered was excellent. Started with a drink. The Frontera was nice and strong. I had the beef mofongo and it came with a little salad on the side. The taste of the mofongo was delicious, it's my favorite of northeast ohio so far, and I've had a lit of it all over. The meat was good, a tiny bit dry, but still tasty. I also had a shrimp empanada. That was excellent too. It had a tasty pastry and full if shrimp. Finished the meal with a tres Leche cake. It's delicious too, and I especially loved all the cinnamon in it. It's a nice smaller size than standard and was great amount for after filling up on entrées. The waitress was fantastic. Before we even asked anything she brought out a little sample for us to try the meat. We had told them it's our first time and weren't sure if it was just carryout or if the dining room was open. It's a small dining room but it's cute with fake plants everywhere. They also have a lit of tvs on the wall. Only bad thing is the restrooms are not handicap friendly. They are very tiny and the chair won't fit. Plus no grab bars either. A nice feature is a small patio out front and they allow well behaved dogs there. read more

this is the fifth time from ordering in this place. The food is good and I have no complaints there. But I have noticed the portion size for any of the meat is extremely wanting. If you're going to pay over $20 for a meal you have to include more than two pieces of meat. This is sad because this place is thriving and I don't want to see it go down because of stinginess. Do better for your customers! Tostones were dry and no oil or garlic given with it. Had to come home and make my own concoction. read more

We had drinks and appetizers that were delicious. Authentic Caribbean food was tasty and reminded me of food we had in the islands.

One of the newer places in Broadview heights and I was so excited to try it! The gentleman behind the counter was very friendly the moment I walked through the door. I ordered the following: - Mofongo with pork $16.99 - Side of plantain $3.99 The pork was very moist and flavorful, while the mofongo was delish. The sweet plantain was just as I imagined it to be! I can't wait to come back and try all their other dishes! read more

Fresh fresh fresh!! This place has quick and delicious bowls, salads and mofungo. I am absolutely going back! The bowls are around $12-15 and they're big. You get rice, protein. (We tasted a variety of the proteins and they were all soooo good!) salad and extras on the salad. They also have plantains and yucca with pickled onions. The owner is the one who served and seriously, you couldn't find a nicer, more friendly guy! He and his wife own it. He even brought my dog a dog dish of fresh water. The inside is so cute! It's very bright and happy. We ate on the little patio (dogs allowed). I'm definitely looking forward to visiting during the winter so I feel like I'm getting some sunshine. Stop here for lunch, you won't regret it! read more

Absolutely amazing food and service was great as well! We will certainly be returning !

This is truly a hidden gem! It's in a strip mall but has a patio out front and is very cute inside. The Monfongo is DELICIOUS! It was my 1st time trying it, and it exceeded my expectations. I got the trifongo with Dominican chicken - sooooo good! (Note: There's an upcharge for this instead of regular mofongo.) Absolutely try the egg rolls - they are filled with sweet plantains and cream cheese - unique and addictive. Really fantastic service with a nice atmosphere (music was LOUD when we got there, but they turned it down when we asked) and excellent food! read more

Ordered take out and was told pickup was 12pm. Selected the option of curb side pickup, that didn't happen. Walked in at 12:10 to order not ready. I was asked are you here for pick up, I said yes. Then they started preparing the order. We are on lunch with minimal time, that's why we order to go. If that were the case we would just walk up and order. She helped 2 people in between finishing our order. Wish we didn't tip ahead read more

We recently moved to Broadview Hts and wanted to try the new restaurants in the area. We ordered to go - Dominican chicken was amazing and the tostones/fried plantains were so crispy. They were thinner than other places, but I liked that. The spicy mayo and garlic aioli sauces were yummy. The pinto beans over rice hit the spot. Reminded me of my grandmas beans! I will be trying the mofongo and egg rolls next time after reading other reviews. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful when making decisions on what to get. I love the vibe of this place- inside and out! Can't wait to go back when the weather warms up to hang on the patio and try the margaritas! read more

Second visit: Food was very good again There were 2 new people at front end: The guy was friendly but was not doing a good job explaining the menu. But at least wanted to appear helpful. Later a woman with glasses came to prepare our plates. She was testy. Started getting annoyed and seemed upset. I think the issue was she not understanding English but Hi! Its ok. If communication is an issue, you make it worse by coming across as rude. We drove 30 min to this place. So disappointed:( Will not revisit any time soon :( Suggestion: Hire people who speak good English at the front end. read more

You order your food from the counter similar tp chipotle. Waitress really friendly and had us sample the different meats. Got the buttermilk chicken and dominican chicken. Both were excellent, fresh, and tasty with the salad, rice and beans. Tried the hispanic egg roll with plantain and cheese, also fresh and really tasty. You need to try this place. Its clean with the tropical vibe. Price was also very reasonable for the quality and portions. Ill be back again real soon. read more

Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. Never been here before. Diane was so nice to take the time to give my mother samples and talk her through everything. That meant a lot to me. We ordered two rice bowls and two empanadas. Everything was great. Bonus point soft fresh cut jalapeños. I can't believe I had driven by so many times with out eating here. The place was also very clean and the prices were absolutely reasonable. read more

Got take out for some friends that were visiting; this was my first time ever eating here. It was *spectacular*. The food is exceptionally fresh and well seasoned; even the side of black beans, which sometimes taste straight from a can in most places, was perfectly and carefully seasoned and absolutely delicious. I am a huge fan of mofongo, and they have some interesting takes on it ("trifongo") and they were all delicious and MOIST! A lot of mofongo just gets really dry at other Caribbean places. This was the best I've had outside the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Every kind of meat was also juicy and perfectly seasoned (we got the butter chicken, Dominican chicken, and roasted pork). I also got a sample of all their different kinds of empanadas; these are the kind that I LOVE, that are fried and not at all dry. Again, each kind deliciously well-seasoned. In addition to the food being fantastic, the service was great. The person who helped us was super friendly and cheerful and paid close attention to detail on a large to-go order, ensuring everything we ordered was correct. Although we took it to-go, while we waited for our order (which was very fast! But I live 5 minutes away so we were there early) we got to check out the ambiance of the place. It's bright and lively and very clean. Looks like a great place to sit at a bar with some good drinks so I'll be sure to try this soon. read more

We loved trying this food! The lady serving us was very helpful in helping us decide what to order. We got the Cajun rice, the Puerto Rican chicken, we tried the plantains, and then we were able to decide what we wanted on our salad. We liked the cilantro dressing better than the garlic, but both were good. You order at the counter like a chipotle. But they have a nice room to sit in and eat. Everything was delicious! We loved the flavor of the chicken. They were the best plantains I've ever had. The flan was good, too. read more

This was my first visit to Tropical Bay even though it isn't very far from home. We started out with beef and chicken empanadas. Both were very tasty. Then I ordered a Monfugo Bowl with buttermilk chicken. Neither me or my dinner guest had ever had Mofongo but enjoyed the dish very much. My friend ordered a Cuban rice bowl with half Dominican chicken and half Caribbean beef stew. Both of these were also excellent. Plenty of other items we want to try on our next visit! We will be back. Service was very good also. read more

Great flavorful food and excellent drinks! It's a cozy place with a casual vibe. You won't be disappointed

First time, ordered for delivery. Most tender, delicious flavorful meats, not an ounce of fat or anything to "pick around." The roast pork was magical. Best I've ever had. Even the onions on it were amazing. We also got a buttermilk chicken bowl with the pigeon pea rice and pinto beans. Beef empanadas, and the house mofongo. These folks better keep it up, because I'm going to need this...often. read more

Overall, we enjoyed our diner here. I had never had a mofongo before, so decided to give it a try and ordered the "tri-fongo" mofongo with Dominican chicken. The chicken was great: flavorful and tender. The side salad was also surprisingly good, with fresh greens and a tasty dressing. As for the mofongo, it was fine; it was my least favorite part of the meal, but I'm glad I tried it. Service was very friendly, offering us samples of the different meat options, providing suggestions for what to order, and checking on us partway through the meal. Definitely more welcoming and attentive than your average fast-casual restaurant. read more
