HANDS DOWN the best Puerto Rican food in Cleveland! The service, the food and the atmosphere are all top notch at this restaurant. Extremely well priced food awaits you! Buen Provecho!

This place is such a hidden gem! Came for lunch and Left super pleased with a happy belly. We walked in and were seated right away by a friendly waitress with her mask on. I'd say they're definitely enforcing the no mask no entry thing. As well as the social distancing. Now on the good part.. the food!! I order 2 chicken empanadillas with the yellow rice and habichuelas. My, oh, my!! The habichuelas were soo full of flavor! And the rice never disappoints. The chicken empanadas could've been a little more crispy, but then again I was getting hangry so I'm glad they came out When they did! There house green salsa is very much similar to a salsa verde I make at home, so of course I pour that sh-- all over my plate! Saved half of my huge plate for later. My sister order the roasted chicken with yellow rice and habichuelas. She got 3 nice sized legs on a huge plate and was only able to eat half as well. She also got the tostones with the red sauce they have (Mayo &ketchup mix- tastes a lot better than it sounds!) and I gotta say it was too bad!! It's kind of like using a tortilla to eat. He got the hot pressed chicken sandwich with fries- lol I know, a little plain for a fire Puerto Rican place, but the sauce livens it up! Lol Highly recommend if you haven't gone to this place y

Mofongo Camarones al Ajillo (Shrimp in Garlic Sauce)

I'm visiting Cleveland and my friend's friend recommended we go here and it did not disappoint!! The service was great and the staff were very friendly. We ordered two dishes to share: Mofongo Camarones al Ajillo (Shrimp in Garlic Sauce) and the Arroz Amarillo Habichuelas Con Pollo Asado (Yellow rice with beans and roasted chicken). First of all, the Mofongo alone is the reason why I'm giving them 5 stars. I've never had a Mofongo before so I didn't have any expectations but OMG it was soooo good!! It had a perfect balance of saltiness and sweetness, which I love! My friend and I couldn't stop eating it when we were there. I highly recommend to anyone to order the Mofongo if you decided to go here. The chicken and rice was tasty as well so if you're not feeling the Mofongo that is also a good choice. Overall, I would love to come back here the next time I'm in Cleveland and would most likely order the Mofongo again!

I love love this place. My boyfriend has never had Puerto Rican food before in his life, I was excited to take him to my favorite Puerto Rican restaurant in Cleveland. I've only done takeout here before but they have a decent size dining area with table service. The food was GREAT as always - we both ordered Bistec with white rice and beans. Their food is always deliciuus and gives great portion for the great price, the food reminds me of my grandma's cooking which is why I always have to hit up this place and make sure I pair my dinner with a Tropi-Cola, which they sell! :)

Looking for a super-affordable real-deal Puerto Rican food spot...well this is your place! They offer both take-out walk up service as well as a sit-down experience if that's what you're after. My wife and I had a meeting in the area, so we popped in for a sit-down meal beforehand. The space inside is small, but adequate for what they are doing. We saw other food orders coming out of the kitchen and the plates looked mammoth...so we decided to get a couple of empanadas and share one main dish. We got one each (empanada) of shredded chicken and beef. The came served hot and available on the table were a number of squeeze bottled sauces to put on top. One sauce was a spicy (green) hot sauce and the other was more of a creamy mayo / ketchup style sauce. Combining the two of them on top of the fried empanada shell was the pro move. We both agreed that the beef was the better of the two choices. For our main dish we went with platter #2 consisting of two (thin) fried pork chops accompanied by yellow rice and habichuelas (beans). Again, the two bottled sauces mentioned earlier were a great combination with both the cops and sides. So glad we only got one main dish...it was all we could do to finish it together! We had saved just enough room to squeeze in a dessert. I am a huge lover of flan, but alas they were already out for the night. So, we settled on a bread pudding and dug in. The pudding was so dense and thick with a great sweet taste but not overly so. It was a really solid meal and for an incredibly affordable price. We will soon be moving to the neighborhood, and I now know this will be one of my regular spots.

A small hole in the wall Puerto Rican place that was so good! The chicken fell off the bones and tasted amazing with the rice and beans. I've never had Mofongo before and it really blew me away. It had the perfect balance of flavors. The place has a cozy atmosphere and the staff are all very nice!

Combination #5: beans, yellow rice, chicharonnes. What a great deal, only $10!

I was looking for a unique dinner spot this past Saturday in Gordon Square and came across Rincón Criollo. Walking past the windows of Rincón Criollo, my friend and I knew we were in for a treat since there was a line out the door. Luckily, there were only two of us, so we quickly got a seat by the front windows. The restaurant was busy, but they had enough servers and we were attended right away! I ordered the combination #5 consisting of yellow rice, beans, and fried pork skin and a Cola Champagne. As the server mentioned, the Cola Champagne is sweeter than the regular cola, but when I actually tasted it, there was a fruity hint to it. Our order was put in and shortly after our drinks were brought over, the food arrived right in front of us. I was really curious for the chicharonnes, as there is a similar dish in the Chinese culture called roast pork. When roast pork is made correctly, the skin is super crispy, as if you are biting in a potato chip, but the remainder of the meat is flavorful and tender. The chicharonnes was a different in its own way. The skin was a bit hard and chewy and the remainder of the meat had flavor. Aside from the chicharonnes, the beans and yellow rice had a good bite to it! Very affordable for a filling meal!

We were visiting Cleveland from NYC and heard about this eatery. Great Puerto Rican food. My sister and nieces were beyond ecstatic about the food since they're from Guanica Puerto Rico. Nice and friendly place. Decent prizes for soooooo much food.

    Shrimp Mofongo

Every so often I get an urge for Mofongo and I head for Ricon Crillo at Gordon Square. Located in a couple of storefronts on Detroit is a wonderful Puerto Rican restaurant. The decor is nothing special, but the room is clean and comfortable, service is friendly and helpful. Although the menu provides a number of options and they have specials on the weekend, I have always gotten the Mofongo with the garlic shrimp. The Mofongo is a large helping of mashed plantains mildly seasoned and topped with a good number of medium sized shrimp in a mild garlic sauce. The plantains are dense with just a bit of a crunch on the outside, the shrimp are pink and perfectly cooked, the garlic sauce works perfectly with the plantains. I ask for the hot sauce, which is a homemade green sauce with a bit of heat and a hint of jalapenos. I mash the plantains into the garlic and hot sauce and it is a great combination. I highly recommend trying Ricon Crillo. Great food in a casual atmosphere at very reasonable price. Be aware that the restaurant closes early so get there for an early dinner.

Potato ball and chicken empanadilla. They were both great!

Don't let the security bars over the door fool you. I like the food hall atmosphere that's more and more popular nowadays, and while Las Tienditas doesn't have the prime retail space of Ohio City Galley or flashy signage, it's got character and soul to make up for it. How can you not be uplifted by the cheerful Latin American music playing through the speakers? As Georgina G. mentions, parking on the residential street right off W 25th was easy to find. Unfortunately, the business hours make it difficult for anyone but locals and people who work in the area to visit except on Saturdays. Las Tienditas itself has a pretty open floor plan, a central room filled with seven good sized tables and a small stage-like area against a wall. And a COUCH. Everything is open, communal, familia-oriented. Let your kids run free. The first round of businesses to occupy the space are Cafe Social Latinoamericano, Pura Cepa, and Ortiz Art Drafts Designs. All the business owners are extraordinarily friendly, hardworking, and bilingual - fear not if you don't know any Spanish beyond "gracias"! At Cafe Social, you'll get caffeine and delicious pasteles served on beautiful hand-crafted ceramics. My Latte was nothing special (perhaps a little too milky), but the Pastel de Parchita (passionfruit) was yummy. Pura Ceda is a one-woman show of Puerto Rican comfort food, mainly soups and sandwiches. I would highly recommend any soup that owner/chef Haguit Marrero makes, it'll make your Cleveland winter that much more bearable. I didn't get much time to browse the Ortiz Art store, but they had some cool snapback hats and other apparel on display. For me, coffee and tables instantly make me want to park my butt down and camp for a while, and luckily the building has free Wi-Fi to support my cafe nomad lifestyle. There aren't many outlets around (unless you want to sit on the stage), so make sure you have enough battery to last or bring an external battery. I'm looking forward to seeing these businesses grow and for future events at Las Tienditas!

You can get 50% off a pastry with your coffee purchase. I was absolutely full when I arrived at Cafe Roig. I just wanted a petite coffee drink. Cortadito was a perfect treat. It was $3.99 for a medium (just a shot), which is pretty standard price (cheaper than Starbucks). The employee explained to me that it's traditionally served sweet.
