I stopped here for takeout on recommendation from a friend. It's a small little shop, nice and clean. I ordered 3 wing dinner with tostones with a side of coleslaw and coconut flan for dessert. The wings were big, crispy on the outside an tender inside and perfectly flavored. The tostones were good but the dipping sauce was amazing. Coleslaw was tasty but pretty average. Cornbread could be Jiffy. The coconut flan was delicious! The order took about 15 minutes and service was friendly. I would definitely go back and maybe try the fried snapper next!

Tostones, Caribbean rice, fried chicken and shrimp ceviche. Spectacular! Recommended! Fresh quality food.

Went to grab some lunch and got surprised by the great fresh flavors at this new place. The owner Ramón is a very cordial and friendly person. The ambiance is clean and bright. I loved their rice, fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy (as good or better than kfc) you should give it a try!

The food was bold and authentic. My experience didn't quite live up to the anticipation. The atmosphere had promise. It had very nice African art on the walls that added to the unique accent of this small eatery. To be very honest, the place did not look extremely polished or clean. Service cold and really unlike typical Caribbean hospitality and vibes. That's also compared to local Afro-Caribbean spots. I came at the end of the day (around 8 PM) and was the only customer so maybe that explains this disappointing level of energy. My options at the end of the day were limited. Quick bites menu was available to build my own plate. The ingredients are not upfront within view so it's hard to tell what you'll get until it arrives. I ordered jerk chicken XL plate with all the possible toppings, and asked for a side of plantains (up-charge). The serving was generous but still a bit pricey for $20. I took my order to go. The dinner plate was too spicy for my liking. The plantains were extremely good, very authentically Caribbean tasting. I loved them. The overall experience just lacked that soul I was looking for. Mostly street parking is available in the area. The eatery is within walking distance of the Cleveland State University campus which is convenient for students and visitors. It's always tough to reflect on a less-than-great experience, especially when I want to root for places like this. I know that restaurants--especially smaller, community-driven ones--have off days. Maybe that's all this was. Still, I walked out bummed.

The food on the other hand was horrid. It tasted like it had been sitting in the warmers for over a week and the smell was foul. When I left I had an extreme stomach ache and felt sick to my stomach. Would not recommend but the one worker needs a raise.

A great spot that serves delicious and reasonably priced food!…read more I got the large curry chicken meal ($13) and a beef patty ($3). The curry chicken meal came with a few pieces of chicken, cabbage, plantains, and rice & peas. Everything on the plate was delicious. The chicken was juicy and tender, and it was flavorful but not too spicy. I really enjoyed the plantains, which had the perfect amount of sweetness. And I'm not typically the biggest fan of cabbage, but I like the way Gar and Mar cooks and seasons theirs. But oh my God, THE BEEF PATTY. Next time I come here, I might just make my meal a bunch of beef patties. The curry chicken was good, but the beef patty was absolutely fantastic. The crust was so buttery and flaky, and the filling so flavorful and well-spiced. The patty was so good that I ordered another one for "dessert," though the patty is very much savory. It was a good amount of food for under $20. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was nice and casual.

After coming to sit back down they announced that it didn't go through and that they would need payment again. I offered to pay the bill with my money. But my partner said that this is common in some places where restaurants will double charge people! The said an automatic refund would happen and to give them a call if we never received one! Yeah no more like let's just call the bank and dispute it! Run. Run. FAR AWAY.

For food, we shared two appetizers and honestly could have made a meal out of them. The Dominican Flag was incredible: crispy fried plantains, perfectly melty fried cheese, Dominican salami and smoky longaniza, all topped with pickled red onions that added the perfect zing. Every bite was packed with flavor and felt like true comfort food. We also loved the Loaded Yuca Balls; crispy golden yuca stuffed with cheese and topped with roasted pineapple, jalapeños, sour cream, and bacon. The combination of sweet, spicy, cheesy, and savory was amazing. Everything tasted fresh and homemade, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was great. We'll definitely be back to try more from the menu!

This unassuming spot is positioned mostly for takeout, with few seats for those who choose to dine in, and offers a limited menu. Offers are made at the counter through a takeout window. I often gauge Caribbean or Jamaican restaurants by how well they prepare their oxtail stews. Unruly's stew had a little more heat than I anticipated ( guessing their recipe actually uses scotchbonnets vs. jalapenos), and it was delicious. The server even added in extra jus into my order ... As if she knew my heart. The portion was generous and reasonably priced. There also were bottles of fun, Jamaican sodas available for purchase. Overall, a good restaurant to satiate cravings. If this place were in Chicago, I'd frequent it often.

The location is a throwback of all the great "hole-in the-wall" spots but it's clean and bright! The food: First of all, I'm a foodie. This means I really enjoy every aspect of food. Presentation, taste, ambiance, music. Everything! During the pandemic, with dine-in options reduced significantly, we're all left wondering what food will taste like and if it loses any of its quality or flavor due to the delayed ability to enjoy it immediately. Well, this is not the case with this place. The jerk is spicy, flavorful and absolutely delicious. Be warned, food quantities are limited. So you'll need to get your order sooner than later. Interesting to know: this restaurant used to be located in the Buckeye neighborhood and recently relocated. I not only plan to attend but also recommend trying it for you

Pretty good Jamaican food near me in Lyndhurst! I am a fan of Jamaican food as a whole (Gar and Mar…read moreis the best sit-down place and Irie Jamaican is the best take out place in Cleveland). But I am no expert. I ordered a large portion of jerk chicken, rice and beans, and steamed cabbage. The large gives 3 chicken portions instead of 2. I am out of food at home since I am leaving to go out of the country for almost two weeks but still needed food for today and tomorrow so I got the large so I could have leftovers. The large was $17. My financial and calorie budgets didn't allow me to also get a patty but they did look delish! My to go order was ready for me 3 minutes after I ordered it so I left to eat half at home. My car started smelling a little like cigarettes with the food in the car, for some reason. As a non-smoker, I wasn't thrilled having that smell in my car for the 10 minute drive back home. Isn't take out food supposed to make your car smell enticing and wonderful? Well, hopefully the food tasted better than it smelled! And it did! I liked both the jerk chicken and the rice and beans better at Irie. The jerk chicken I had a month or so ago at Irie was life changing! This place puts way too much sauce on everything. And it was a little too spicy for me! However, the steamed cabbage better at Taste of Jamaica! The large portion did provide me with leftovers that I will eat for lunch tomorrow so I am happy for that! I enjoyed my food at Taste of Jamaica overall, but for a dollar or two more, I'll get my craving at Irie. But the food here is good though and made very quickly so don't be deterred if you intend on trying this place out!
