It just melts in your mouth and is super flavorful without being salty. The egg is super custardy and flavorful as well. The ramen broth is rich while the noodles have a good chew to them. You can ask for pepper to make it spicy as well and I recommend it. Service is quick and efficient.

I've driven by this restaurant many times and observed the parking lot was packed in the evening;…read morebecause of this, I decided to try it. It's a bit of a conundrum to find the entrance; it's on the back side, up a flight of stairs. The dining room brims with families, couples, groups of friends, seniors--all walks of life. One table away from me, sat a father and young son heartily munching on their dinners. I decided to ask them about the menu. The father told me that they come here once a month because his son is a picky eater, but loves GuGu's cooking, so consumes everything on his plate; and the dad thinks the place is the bomb. Started with the gyoza appetizer and enjoyed it very much. My seaweed salad was fresh and generous although the dressing was not to my liking, however able to change it up with some soy sauce and wasabi. A red curry duck main that I went with was luscious, meaty and satisfying. All dishes were nicely presented. Service is professional. I appreciate the linen-like, deposable napkins that are a part of the place setting--nicely absorbent. I agree with others that it takes time for food to arrive, but worth the wait.

Each bento comes with rice, edamame, two steamed dumplings, miso soup, and a California roll. You can upgrade the roll for $2 so we got the shrimp tempura roll. They thoughtfully packed the sauce separately so that our shrimp and beef would not get soggy. The sauce for the yuzu shrimp was delicious. I really enjoyed the twist on the typical walnut shrimp dish. I liked the fried shrimp in the bang bang dish best. My only gripe about that dish was that there was not enough sauce. The shrimp in the Thai basil dish was small and I would not get that again. The miso soup was on the salty side for us but it is a generous portion. The shrimp tempura roll was good and comes with 5 larger pieces. Overall, I enjoyed the food here and think that they do a really nice job with take-out. Would come back here again when I'm in the area.

We came here after coming back from Hawaii two days ago. We were pleasantly surprised…read more The BBQ short ribs were tender and juicy. The flavor was salty and sweet. The ones we had in Hawaii had a spicy kick at the end. These were comparably good. One flavor all around. No spicy after kick. The Kalua Pork and Cabbage was spicier than what we had at Hawaii. It actually tasted better. They added ginger and it was spicy. I liked the Taiwanese cabbage better than what we had in Hawaii, which was regular cabbage. The ribeye steak ramen was good as well. It makes me want to try the rib eye entree. I like the black pepper flavor. I took the steak out as soon as it served, so it would not cook anymore in the broth. I was impressed that they made it medium rare. The chicken broth was not too salty, which it can be in other places, so I was pleased that it wasn't. The menma bamboo was crunchy. Many places have it too soft. The black seaweed/wood ear like topping was also crunchy. The wavy ramen noodles were perfectly QQ or all dente. There were two doors to open at the entrance. Handicap accessible. No steps. Two gender neutral restrooms. Spacious. Handicap accessible. We found street parking right out front. We came at 7 PM on a Monday after the dinner rush. Our server was very attentive. He also answered all my questions. I asked it they were Pulehu Ribs. When he did not know, he went to ask his colleague. I would come back for the same dishes, get a bigger order of the short ribs, and try the garlic shrimp. Definitely a new staple for us. Before going to Hawaii, we never had Hawaiian food before. This was a good way to revisit our vacation!

We used to love this spot when it was strictly a noodle bar, but quality has completely tanked…read more We tried the karaage chicken, and it was terrible，literally more thick flour batter than actual chicken. When we complained to the waitress, we just got a lazy brush-off: "Different chefs have different styles." That's completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, the Tonkotsu ramen is a total disappointment. The broth is extremely thin, watery, and lacks any of the rich, creamy pork flavor you expect--it literally tastes like basic chicken soup. To top it all off, when the bill comes, the default tip options on the card machine start at 20%, 25%, and 35%! Expecting a 35% tip for mediocre, watered-down food and indifferent service is absurd. Adding sushi seems to have ruined what made this place good in the first place. Save your money and go somewhere that still cares about their ramen or karaage chicken.
