Very responsive from first communication, and competitive prices compared to other movers for a small job. We were just moving some large furniture from 1st floor up a narrow winding staircase to the 2nd floor, which there was no way we could do ourselves. Several other movers stated they would need 3 people and extra equipment and quoted us over double the prices that JH quoted. Not only that, JH was FAST to schedule and very fast to complete the job!! On the day of they came with just two people, assessed the area and my staircase with the naked eye, and proceeded to fit our large dresser up the stairs at just the right angle so nothing hit or scraped any edges! Very impressed by how efficient they were. They also helped us move some desks up and down and helped my husband lift / install the TV onto a wall stand (wall stand already mounted on the wall) as a last min request, which we would have had trouble doing ourselves. Can't comment to how they are with a full-on move but definitely the best we found for quick, small moving help and we did get quotes from a bunch of places. It helps too that they did not have a 2 or 3 hour minimum charge like some other moving companies, since our job did not take that long. read more

JH Moving was not only professional, reliable, courteous, and careful but they were also among the most reasonably priced service we found when comparing rates. They moved a very heavy (concrete) table and three heavy concrete benches for us and did it with ease. They showed up on time, handled the job perfectly, and helped us set everything up at the delivery location. They also very clearly communicated with us at every step in the process (including confirmation of the job the day before and morning of) which we really appreciated and helped assure us that everything was on track. First things first: I am a very small Asian girl with butter fingers. I've tried moving my furniture on my own before and ended up with a broken table and an almost broken back. Anyway, the lease for my apartment was coming up last month. I knew I needed to find movers so that my spine made of twigs wouldn't snap. I found out JH through a referral, and if it weren't for them I'd probably be dragging my desk with me in the ambulance and using them as moving transport LOL J and H were very prompt with their responses, and on time for moving day. I'm pretty possessive over my belongings so I was really worried they'd scratch or drop something, but they didn't. very efficient AND careful. First, I want to say that the team who completed my move did handle all of my items with care. That being said, I am pretty disappointed based on all of the 5-star reviews. I scheduled a move labor only to load a ~700 square foot 1 bedroom apartment into a 15 foot UHaul. The building has an elevator and the UHaul was parked right outside the building. I have about 10-15 more boxes than average because I have a lot of books and I only needed help disassembling my bed frame, but other than that, easy peasy move. I have moved many times in the past decade (like 11) and it has NEVER taken laborers/movers more than 2.5 hours to load/unload my items. And sometimes I've lived on the 2nd or 3rd floor with no elevator! Somehow the move yesterday took 3.5 hours?!? For a 1 bedroom? I'm not sure if the team was having an off day or what. First, they showed up 15 minutes late. Which was totally fine. They texted a heads up and everything. But then they didn't even introduce themselves and they weren't wearing masks. After they got things going, at one point they stacked boxes on top of my printer box that that had tented flaps taped together because it wasn't able to close all the way, which they ignored and stacked on it anyway and broke part of my printer off. Not sure if it's still going to be functional or not. I might have to replace it. They barely acknowledged my concern and did not even apologize. There would have been resistance when they tried to close that box, which means they forced it and ignored the popping sound when it broke. Later, when I realized they were taping my rented UHaul furniture pads around bulky items, I asked them to stop because I would just have to cut the tape off in a day or so. So I just asked them to use the pads loosely wrapped around items. They ignored me and continued to tape items. At 2 hours and 30 minutes into the move, I asked how much longer they thought they would be because there was a good amount of furniture left and I'd never had a team go longer than this. I was told, "about 30 minutes." After that, their pace seemed to slow wayyyy down and my mom noticed they were often on their phones, walking around outside, and carrying much smaller loads than was warranted (e.g. carrying 3 framed art pieces that weren't heavy instead of the full stack of 5, turning it into two trips). The moving pace slowed to the point that the "30 minutes" left turned into ANOTHER HOUR. Which then cost me more $$$. Prior to my move day I had asked what materials I needed to have ready for them and I had everything he mentioned. Then on the day of they said I needed tie down straps (which I didn't have) and they could use theirs but charge me $30 to replace them. I said that was fine, but I asked that in the future please think ahead and tell people who might not realize that they'd need them. They again barely acknowledged me or even responded to my comment. I don't think they ended up charging me for them, but honestly I haven't even unpacked the UHaul so I'm not even sure they used them after all. Overall, I felt ignored and dismissed and taken advantage of. I'm really disappointed with the communication of this team. If you want your minimum to be 3 hours, then advertise that and don't drain the clock. Or tell people that you only do very small moves and run out of stamina after an hour or so, so people are prepared! read more

I had to move apartments within two days and they were super responsive and accommodating considering the rush. They helped disassemble and reassemble my bed bed as well as carry two big bookshelves. They assembled my bed and were so nice about arranging my furniture to make sure it was what I wanted. I really appreciated how they even asked if I needed help carrying my other small boxes even though I only requested a quote for the big furnitures. These guys are great! I've worked with them at least 5 times in the last 3 years. They've helped me with: -putting things in storage -moving to the East Bay -furniture removal (twice!). They even held my items overnight because we finished late and hauled away the next day for free. -assembling Ikea furniture -clearing out the backyard They're super efficient and can handle small, medium and large moves. I highly recommend getting 4 guys and both trucks. They wrap up all furniture and work so fast.
