Scam artist lied to customers installs not very good craftsmanship they leave messes

Sales pitch inbound! Stay away! Was told my unit was missing half the refrigerant, and there was no point in filling it up. Called TRI County and they fixed up my unit and got my wife and baby AC without completely wasting my time! It also appears the owner likes to berate any reviewer that he wasn't able to shiest.... just check out any of his one star reviews. He loves to boast about his 5 star reviews but hasn't pulled one in 11 months, and the most rated one is from 2014..... Also no masks when they showed up! They do great in your pocket I hear! read more

They are super friendly, came the same day we called, provided a reasonable quote (after diagnosising the issue), explained everything they were doing as they did the work, and completed their work efficiently. I called them up today to have my heating system repaired and they were very helpful over the phone. Jeremy called me up right away and after I explained to him the problem, he knew exactly what to do. He told me to replace the filter and to reset the heating system. Service tech, Josh, up promptly and gave us an honest diagnosis as our 2nd opinion. He wrote us a very reasonable quote to replace our AC unit with same or next day service. Service team was prompt and did good work, however, they overlooked replacing the condensate pump as was quoted and refused to do it after my wife brought it up but we were still charged the full quote amount. I called Josh and he very professionally apologized and came out himself to replace the pump and tubing. Overall we are happy with this company. There's bad seeds everywhere but this was made right and I respect that. read more

As a Real Estate Agent, I'm very disappointed in this company. My customers bought a brand new Carrier unit in May of last year, recommended and installed by JF Maxwell. The evaporator coil, a part that usually lasts for the life of the unit, went bad and they charged them $1195 labor to replace it. This was after giving them a "discount" of $100. That's almost half of what they paid last year to have the unit replaced. I know companies usually only warranty labor for one year, but I feel this was an excessive amount to charge for 2 1/2 hours of labor especially since they sold them the unit. The part was covered under the manufacturers warranty, so this labor charge was totally under their control. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone after this. read more

We purchased our 40+ year old home in 2013. The relatively new a/c unit never cooled the house and my son's room was hot. After living with it for a couple of years, we called a couple of a/c contractors. We received the JF Maxwell referral from the contractor doing my son's bathroom. JF Maxwell installed a heat pump in the attic and a new a/c system in the basement and ran new duct work everywhere. Also, each system has an electrostatic filter installed. (The old duct work had holes, was rusted, had mold in the insulation, and tons of dust, which we cleaned when we moved in) . We are so happy to have worked with Jim, Steve, and Jimmy. They did a fantastic job! They had to endure 140+ heat in the attic and the way the rafters were, deal with some really tight spots. I would highly recommend them for any a/c job. read more

I would not recommend this company to anyone. They replaced a heating system in my rental home. I live out of state. I tried for two weeks to contact them regarding payment of the invoice and did not hear back. When I finally heard back I was given an application for financing late on a Friday. Monday morning before the start of business I received a nasty threatening e-mail demanding payment and threatening legal action. They did not respond for 2 weeks then demanded immediate action on my part. I have never been spoken to the way James the owner spoke to me. He is a bully and not honest. They came out the next day which is what I needed. Thanks to the plumber who correctly diagnosed what the issue was and made it easy for the problem to be resolved. JF Maxwell was quick to solve the problem. They even told me how to prevent the problem in the future. They were very personable and reasonably priced. I will definitely use them again. read more

I was impressed that the company showed up the same day I called. I was told on the phone that the service charge would be waived if a repair was made but that was not honored because they told me a re-charge of my freon was not considered a repair. I beg to differ, the system was not working when they arrived, they added freon and then it started working fine. I consider that a repair since I can't think of another word to use for it. Anyway, they are fast but I would be wary of what they may claim on the phone. read more

Mr. Maxwell resolved an issue caused by the Nest thermostat and also ensured my AC had the appropriate amount of refrigerant.

I noticed my house was not cooling as quickly as it had in the past 2 years- just the other day-so I knew it was time for a tune up. I did my homework and it seemed that for a look it was just overpriced at most other places nearby and reviews were mixed. I took a chance with them and was very satisfied with their service. I used a Groupon so again very leery since their was no real incentive for them to want to give me the best they could offer, but they say a 150 point inspection and in any case I know you pay for what you get. I made the appointment and asked about Freon because my new home owner instincts were tingling that this was the cause. I received the quote and it was fair. I was not home when they arrived, but my wife was there and she called me when they were in the middle of the tune up and notified me that it would require Freon as I expected. I also asked them a few question and they were very knowledgeable, patient and polite. I gave them the okay and the post HVAC report was really detailed about the visit. Overall, I would highly recommend them because even thought it was a Groupon and they didn't really have to give me such a quality detailed report for the price- they did. For this reason, I would use them again. The only grip that I had was that they tried to up charge just a little on the Freon that I had already received a quote about before, but they honored the original price so for this I have to give them a perfect score because they rebounded on this one. read more
