I asked if there was an alternative that would work and was assured that there wasn't. We were on our fifth day without air conditioning so I agreed to pay $1,125.00 for three pounds of R22 to be added. Afterwards I checked with two reputable HVAC companies and was informed that there is an alternative to R22 that could be used which is much less expensive. Also, I found R22 online from several sources for less than $50.00 per pound. I feel taken advantage of and will use someone else in the future.

Appearing that the thermostat was bad he had to go to the warehouse to pick up a new one. Once back replacing the old one began. So after so quick troubleshooting in the basement furnace he found a defective in line fuse blown. Replacing the fuse and low and behold, success the thermostat was working. So being the nice guy he removed his unit and put the original back in. Problem solved.
